Waiting on Wednesday (20)

Chalelwood (The Borden Dispatches #2): Cherie Priest

From Goodreads: Birmingham, Alabama is infested with malevolence. Prejudice and hatred have consumed the minds and hearts of its populace. A murderer, unimaginatively named “Harry the Hacker” by the press, has been carving up citizens with a hatchet. And from the church known as Chapelwood, an unholy gospel is being spread by a sect that worships dark gods from beyond the heavens. 

This darkness calls to Lizzie Borden. It is reminiscent of an evil she had dared hoped was extinguished. The parishioners of Chapelwood plan to sacrifice a young woman to summon beings never meant to share reality with humanity. An apocalypse will follow in their wake which will scorch the earth of all life.

I loved the first book in this series and can't wait until September 1, 2015 when I can finally get my hands on this one.  I think I am really drawn in by the covers as they are beautiful, yet creepy.  This series tends to get mixed reviews, but I really liked Maplecroft and hope this one measures up.  At least I don't have a long wait.

    I haven't read the first book yet, but it's been on my TBR since last year. I hope to get to both books soon, they sound amazing! Great pick!

      Tammy they are amazing but I know not everyone liked the first. You should at least give it a try.

    OMG I haven't heard of these, but wow sounds like the dark kind of read I am into these days. I need to check this series out. Thanks for sharing!!

      Sarah, you really should check them out. Seems I have been on a dark, horror trend this year and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I have to read a romance or cozy mystery once in a while to break things up.
