FROM GOODREADS: The first part of the World Fantasy Award-winning anthology, The Dark Descent
In addition to nineteen superb stories of dark fantasy and horror, The Color of Evil includes a long, insightful introduction, which delineates the evolution of horror fiction and for each writer, notes which say something about the literature and the author's place in it.

WHY I'M WAITING: October is a perfect time for horror (as is the rest of the year IMO). I love anthologies from time to time and since this one is from Tor, it's bound to be good. Plus, Stephen King, what can I say?
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR THIS WEEK???
This looks like a great collection. I was pretty much raised on Ray Bradbury LOL and I really enjoyed some of Stephen Kings books, too! Thanks for sharing about this one!
ReplyDeleteOh interesting, this goes into how each writer came to horror? That's going to be great insight into their work! Here's mine http://editingeverything.com/blog/2016/09/07/waiting-on-wednesday-the-next/
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of short stories but with that list of author I think it will be hard not to at least give it a try...lol. :)

This is completely new to me, but it sounds like a solid collection. Although I probably already have some of these stories in other collections since I've been collecting books for so many years
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really good anthology. Thanks for sharing it! Adding it to my TBR. My WoW
ReplyDeleteFantastic cover! I'm not much for scary stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for ... vacation! I just went and bought a bunch of new books, including the new Harry Potter, so I've got lots of reading to keep me going while we're away!
I just love all of the books you pick, Barb! This is one I haven't heard of but would totally pick up.
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of The Dark Descent packed away somewhere. I need to find it!
ReplyDeleteOctober sure is the time to read horror - I've already got several books lined up for next month. Anthologies aren't usually my thing, but I'll probably keep my eye out for this one!

yesss horror is FANTASTIC. And I don't really do Halloween (it's not huge in Australia?!) but I do enjoy all the creeptastic books that come out around this time! *happy dance*
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! Looks like quite a few of my favorite authors are included so I'll have to add this to my creeptastic reading list :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this before, but sounds good!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE that cover!! The title is especially GORGEOUS! As for the contents.... I don't like the horror genre at all, so I wouldn't be reading this book. Ironically, Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite SF writers. He's an AWESOME prose stylist, as well as a very imaginative author!! I like some of his books, but avoid those with an undercurrent of horror. My favorite is "Fahrenheit 451".
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy reading this collection! :)
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my own WOW!! Sorry for the late comment back.... Have a WONDERFUL week!! :)
