TTT - 10 Books To Read If Your Book Club Likes Historical Mysteries

This top 10 weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and can be found HERE.  Each week they focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading. This week we are looking at book club recommendations so here's some things to consider if you like historical mysteries. Some of these may have a slight paranormal twist to them as well.

I really never read a lot of historical fiction until the past 2 years but I have found that when it involves mysteries or paranormal elements, I really enjoy it. In fact, I have quite a few more on my TBR!

So what books should my book club read?

  4. Ooh I like historical mysteries- and yes so much the better if it has paranormal or mysery elements. Couldn't agree more! The Taxidermist's Daughter and A Study in Scarlet Women both look good!

  6. I'm not HUGE into historical mysteries, but I really love one with paranormal aspects. Sadly, I haven't read any of these other than The Daemoniac. I need to read them!! Great list & topic!

  7. I love historical mysteries! I actually own a copy of The Ripper's Wife but haven't gotten to it yet and A Study in Scarlet Women looks great! I'll have to add the rest of these too. Great list!

  8. I love historical fiction in general, but I definitely have an extra thing for historical mysteries. I actually had "A Criminal Magic" checked out from my library in Ohio before the move and didn't get to it, and of course the library here in Hawaii doesn't have it. :(

Have you read "The Diviners" by Libba Bray? It's historical ('20s) and paranormal, and I think you might like it. I really enjoyed "The Diviners" but the second book just did not do it for me so I decided to abandon the series. Still, I can definitely recommend "The Diviners"!

  10. OMG!!! I've always LOVED historical romances, and have recently discovered a new love -- for historical mysteries, ESPECIALLY if they contain paranormal elements! There are some series that feature female detectives teamed up with male detectives in Regency England that I REALLY want to get into !!

ALL of these look GREAT, except.....I must confess I'm not at all interested in ANYTHING related to Lizzie Borden. I'm much too chicken for stuff like that! It sends chills right up my spine! Lol.

I already have "The Dark Days Club" on my GR shelves. This is one of those Regency detective books I'm VERY interested in reading!

Since I'm a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan, "A Study in Scarlet Women" is also already on my GR shelves. I need to get to it VERY soon, too!!

As for "The Ripper's Wife", forget it! Lol. That must be terrifying in the extreme!

I will be checking out all the other books. If a book has nothing do to with the horror genre, then that's fine for little ol' chicken-hearted me! Lol!

Thanks for sharing!! Hope you're having an AWESOME weekend!! <3 :)
