TTT - 2016 Releases I Meant to Read but Didn't Get To (but TOTALLY plan to)

This top 10 weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and can be found HERE.  Each week they focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.  This week I am sharing with you books that came out last year that I honestly PLANNED to read, but just didn't make it. HOWEVER, I will make time for them in 2017.







I even have a nice new hardcover which Mr. Barb and the pups bought me for Christmas.

I am still deeply in love with this cover and have to make time to read it.

I bought this one to help me get out of a reading slump...slump gone, book still unread.

Had hoped to read this one in December but then a little thing called CHRISTMAS got in the way!

I've heard really mixed reviews but I still want to get around to this one on 2017!

I've had this on request at my local library since it came out but the first person to check it out is over a month overdue on returning it!

I still need to find out more about this brutal princess.

Not my normal read but I've heard so many great things I have to give it a chance.

Another book I've only heard good things about.

This one is also still waiting in the wings..."Must make time, must make time."

So this week's topic was WAY to easy which also means it's WAY to scary how many books I still need/want to read from my backlist.

    And I Darken was pretty good! I have also been thinking of adding Diabolic to my list because I’ve been seeing it around so much recently and that cover is pretty! Great list and yes always time in 2017 My Top Ten

    OMG, drop everything and go read My sister Rosa. That book is subtle and ultimately mindblowing at the same time. JL the author has reached this level of subtle and scary that gave me the shivers!

    Diabolic has been on my shelf since May and I still haven't gotten to it either :( Hopefully this year!

    I snorted when I read your comment about Scythe. I guess just having it on your shelf cured the slump ;)

    That stinks about My Sister Rosa. I hope they return it soon and it's not lost :( It'd be a shame for it to be lost so quick after it was released and purchased.

    At least 2 of these books would be on my list as well. I have ARCs of The Fireman and And I Darken that I still need to get to. I will make sure it happens this year! Great list!

    I plan to read The Fireman at some point but I'm not sure it will be next year as there are so many I need to get to!

      It is a mammoth book and while book size never scares me, I know it will take a while unless I read it when I'm off work.

    I also recently added The Hating Game to my TBR - I hope we both love it when we (eventually) get to it!

      Yea, I was super excited to get to it last year, but again, too many books. I LOVE the cover though!

    I've heard really good things about The Fireman. A Murder in Time is new to me! Love the title though, must invesigate more. :) And I agree about The Hating Game- not my usual read but the reviews I've seen make it sound fun and cute.

      The second book to The Murder in Time comes out soon. I've seen it on Netgalley but knew I still needed to read the first one. I'm going to try to grab The Hating Game from the library soon!

    Definitely read "The Fireman" -- I know you'll like it. It's long, but it reads so fast. I couldn't put it down! "A Murder in Time" was decent; I didn't love the very beginning, pre-time travel, but the rest of the story was good. The writing could've been a bit better, but I still enjoyed it -- and there's a sequel coming out this year!

    I added "The Hating Game" to my to-read list after seeing so many bloggers rave about it the past month!

      I'm hoping to grab "The Hating Game" from the library this weekend. I'm pretty sure I'll like "The Fireman" and long books don't intimidate me, I just want to have the time to enjoy it!

    I've seen Scythe on many lists this week, and it's on mine as well. Funny how that one kinda came out of nowhere for me, but now I really want to read it!

      I honestly haven't heard much about it now that it's been released either come to think of it. I know many love the author, but it just hasn't been that talked about. Hope we both enjoy it!

      Yes, we will! And think of all the books we'll have to put on next year's list since we will be reading so many from 2016 this year (this sounds like the making of a vicious cycle - haha)
