Stacking the Shelves (99)

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.

Once again, I couldn't help but 1-click on Amazon.  I bought two of these books for $.99 each and then grabbed two for free.  Chuckles shared that "Goofy Newfies" was on sale yesterday and who could resist those pups.  "To Hell in a Hand Basket" is a horror book that simply sounded to good to pass up.  "The Sense of Death" and "Witch" were both free.

I grabbed two books from the Penguin First to Read program.  I find these books are usually hit or miss but I hope these ones work out well.  "The Night the Lights Went Out" and "Gone Without a Trace" both sound like solid thrillers (and this week now I'm singing "That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia.....versus last week's Cher song).

Finally I received a few ARC's for review.  "Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore" has been getting some buzz while I'm hoping "The Silent Corner" by Dean Koontz is better than his last few - it's the start of a new series.  "Duels and Deception" sounds cute and fun and those who know me know that while I can't stand Peter Pan, I have a fondness for Captain Hook so I can't wait to see what "Hook's Tale" brings.

So clearly I have a problem.  What did you add to your shelves this week???

  1. Ooh what is Hook's Tale?! I'm tempted to go request that. Did you see my review for Peter Pan last week? I think we might have very similar thoughts and I'd love to know yours if you've read the original.

    1. I'm going to have to go back and look at your review. In all my drama, I must have missed it. I've never read the original but did read "Alias Hook" a few years back.

  4. Some interesting covers and titles here. I haven't heard of most of them but Hooks Tale has me intrigued maybe because I adore Hook in Once Upon A Time! My Shelf

  7. Wow, quite the assortment of books you got! All of them are new and unfamiliar to me - with the exception of Duels and Deception (that rhymes, hehehe). I loved Love, Lies and Spies, and I am really looking forward to reading Duels and Deception. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a lovely weekend, Barb. =)

    Check out my STS post!

  10. I haven't picked up any First to Read books in quite a few cycles. I already had a copy of Gone Without a Trace from NetGalley and I did consider the Karen White book but I really need to catch up on my backlog. Enjoy all of your new books!

    1. I've not always had the best luck with First to Read books but the last one I read, Nemesis, was really good so maybe my streak is ending.

  12. Ooo, I'm going to have to check out some of those sales/freebies because I need more books . . .

I hope the Koontz works out for you. He used to be one of my favorite authors but now he's pretty hit or miss for me.
