This top 10 weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and can be found HERE. Each week they focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading. The host is taking a break for a couple of weeks so I figured I'd go back and do some older ones I never did before. This week I want to share some of my favorite horror covers!
This book was pretty decent but in my opinion, the cover was much better!
I still need to read this one but that cover gets me every time.
Don't know about you but I never want to run into this thing on Christmas.
Clowns...need I say more?
I love the simplicity of this one.
Clive Barker's mind scares me.
Read this years ago and still love looking at it.
This book still gives me chills.
I just adore this and find it very twisted - which I think is a good thing!
Had to work in Lizzie somewhere. This cover remind me of Natalie Portman for some reason. I think it's gorgeous and love the colors and the ax.
So, if you love horror, I definitely recommend The Birthing House. I stumbled across it accidentally at the library and it remains one of my favorite novels. Do you have any favorite horror covers?
Clowns always creeped me out and that was before I read IT! I never wanted to go to the circus or go anywhere near clowns and mimes...*shudder* Love The Thief of Always cover for being really creepy!
ReplyDeleteYou know what scares me more than clowns? Stilt people - you know, the circus people who walk around on the stilts (do they have a better name?) I shudder whenever I see someone doing that on TV and couldn't stand to see one in person.
DeletePride and Prejudice and Zombies is on my list to read this year. I've already seen the movie, but I still want to read the book!
ReplyDeleteI liked the movie although I know a lot of people didn't. I did want more zombies in it though.
DeleteI have to agree with you on the Graveyard Apartment, the cover is way better than the book:-D You seem to prefer horror covers with houses on them...
ReplyDeleteI didn't even realize that but you are right. I guess haunted houses have always been a favorite of mine starting all the way back to The Shining (even though I guess it wasn't a house).
DeleteGreat choice for your TTT. I love this https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/89724.We_Have_Always_Lived_in_the_Castle?ac=1&from_search=true cover for We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Creepy kids, creepy cat, just perfection.
ReplyDeleteI have that book. I think I bought it around Christmas from Amazon last year because I could never find it in our local libraries or at the local bookstore and I wanted a copy. Haven't read it yet though.
Deleteoh I knew I could count on you for some good horror covers Barb! The replacement is one of my top covers of all times. I love Brenna's writing but it was a DNF when I tried it the first time. I'll try it again though
ReplyDeleteI think I've read a different book by her but I can't recall. I've always loved this cover.
DeleteClive Barker is scary but damn I love his books. Need to get my hands on more of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a lot of him but his movies can be downright terrifying!
DeleteI love the cover for The Replacement. So creepy, love the juxtaposition of such an innocent thing (the cradle/stroller) and the weapons as a mobile!
ReplyDeleteI know. I think that's what makes it that much more creepier.
DeleteI love the cover for The Replacement. That baby carriage is just creepy. I will have to add The Birthing House to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it and need to find some more of his books.
DeleteLovely topic. Some of my favorite horror covers are those that are not overtly "horror" at all but are more subtle and sinister. You have some great choices there.

I think Krampus is kind of over-the-top but in reality, I think that's the way he's portrayed. It's still an awesome cover!
