This top 10 weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and can be found HERE. Each week they focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading. Today I'm sharing with you authors I'd love to meet. Since I pretty much live in the middle of nowhere though, I don't see this happening.
Everyone knows Stephen King is "King" of horror. Well, at least that's my opinion and he's probably my all-time choice for author's I'd like to meet - but I'd probably fangirl too much!
Yes, I'd like to have a cup of coffee with Lauren Graham. Technically I can include her on this list because I've read both her non-fiction and fiction works. I imagine it would be such a fun conversation.
I've communicated with Stuart through emails and he even did an interview here at The Farm. So I feel like I've sort of met him. He writes such interesting characters and I'd love to sit down and learn more about him. Plus I want to ask him how his dog's recovery is going.
I've loved everything I've ever read by Lucy and she even sent me a tweet once after Booker T left a review about a dog in one of her books. I think she is a really great lady!
Moore's books make me laugh, giggle and think. I think that's a good combination so I'd love to chat with him.
There's a catch here - I'd like for Anne Rice to give me a tour of a graveyard in New Orleans. I think she would weave a great tour and it would add to the spookiness I think of when I think of her - which is a good thing.
I've read so many of Harris' books and would love to see if she ever considers revisiting Bon Temps. Plus, I NEED to know if there will be any more Midnight, Texas books.
Along with King, Koontz is a writer I loved to devour when I was a teen. I think his older works are still some of his bests. I've also always admired the bond between him and his dogs.
Simply would just want to thank her in person for "The Others" series and express my gratitude that there is going to be a spin-off series.
Anyone who knows me knows I love the Sin du Jour series. Wallace writes such awesome fantasy books that I'd simply want to know what he is thinking. And I think there might be alcohol involved.
So there you have it. I probably could have added a few more and I really wanted to put Poe on the list and then realized that sent the wrong message about my mortality so I didn't. Maybe in the afterlife. Who made your list this week?
I'd love to meet Stephen King and Anne Bishop too! And, of course, Lauren Graham. I've only read her novel, but eventually I'll get around to her memoir.
ReplyDeleteI think she'd be a lot of fun. I would probably freak out if I got to meet Stephen King and would have no idea what to say. I'd probably ask him about his dog who I see on Twitter quite a lot.
DeleteI've never really been a 'meet the author' kind of person to be honest! As a kid I wanted to meet Stephen King especially after my Pennywise obsession! Now, I don't honestly think much about it!
ReplyDeleteMe either and I actually had to really think to come up with a list.
DeleteDean Koontz! And Charlaine Harris! Lightning was one of my faves of Koontz's and I like Harris' other works but not a fan of True Blood lol I'm weird like that! She's got a new series out soon too. Bit of a dystopia I thinlk
ReplyDeleteI just saw the info about the new Harris series yesterday. It sounds quite different from her other stuff. I actually like the Midnight, Texas books better than her True Blood ones even though I enjoyed them as well. The series got to be ridiculous the last few seasons.
DeleteSo some of those I know and some I don't. I have never read a Christopher Moore book but seen a little excerpt of one of his novels and now I want too...lol. Some others are on your list I want to try too. I would love to meet Stephen King and Dean Koontz and of course Charlaine Harris! Great choices!
ReplyDeleteChristopher Moore is hilarious. I recommend starting with the Bloodsucking Fiends books. I think there are 2 in the series, maybe 3.
DeleteSo Lauren Graham is the only one I probably would want to meet from your list... so far. I haven't read anyone but her and Koontz, though. Most the others are on my TBR, though!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun list to make but I also found it kind of hard.
DeleteI was just saying on another blog that I wish I'd done this top ten, because I've met SO many authors. Stephen King and Anne Rice are two that I've never met, however, so I'm right there with you! But I have met Dean Koontz and Christopher Moore. I met Christopher when he had just released his first book many many years ago. It was pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't. I bet Christopher Moore is a blast. I think Matt Wallace would be interesting and surprisingly enough, I think it's be really easy to connect to him.
DeleteA great list and I wouldn't mind meeting some of them too, especially King and Koontz.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I learned that King was in a neighboring city bookstore toward the end of the last year and if I hadn't found out so short notice, I probably would have tried to drag Mr. Barb out to it.
DeleteYou have THE BEST writers in this list and I haven't read any :(
ReplyDeleteLove Kings and Anne Rice's stories but can't get through King's writing. I've never read Interview with the Vampire but loved the movie so I should try. AND FOR GOD SAKE WHEN AM I GOING TO START THE OTHERS?? SMH!!!
Good question. Probably after you read the other books I've recently added to your TBR! :)
DeleteYou have great authors here! I need to read books by Dean Koontz!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
Thanks. I've loved Koontz for years.
DeleteGreat List. My husband is a huge christopher moore fan. I'd love to meet stephen king myself.

Christopher Moore books are so fun to read. I need to read his latest sometime soon.
DeleteLauren Graham is such a great one I didn't think of!! I have read both of her books and love her in general!
ReplyDeleteI know. I'm sure she would be so much fun. I was off sick one day last week and watched the entire revival series that day.
DeleteI've never read a Stephen King (can you believe that??) but I bet he would be amazing to talk to!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you've never read a book by him? Is there a reason. I can't recall if you like horror or not. If not, I would still recommend Joyland and I've heard the Bill Hodges trilogy is more crime fiction than horror.
DeleteI hope you meet all the authors on your TTT list this week. The cool thing is that I made a TTT post a couple of years ago of all the authors I wanted to meet in person some day and I ended up meeting three of them in person within a year!! I'm hoping to meet the rest of the authors on my TTT list some point in time!
ReplyDeleteThis week I choose to focus on the eleven authors I can't believe I've already met! Here's a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2017/03/top-ten-tuesday-ten-authors-i-cant.html
That's awesome!
DeleteI also want to meet most of the authors on your list! I do get to be in the same room as King in just a few months (squee!), but Harris and Koontz would be wonderful. Odd Thomas is one of my all time favorite literary characters, and I'd just like to thank him for creating my Odd one. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday
I'm so envious. I just know I'd end up saying something stupid to him.
DeleteLauren Graham would be so much fun! I've been to a Stephen King event so I count that as a meet... breathing the same air as him totally applies. Lol If I had to actually talk to him I would be a mess.
ReplyDeleteYep breathing the same air totally counts.
DeleteI would love to meet a few of these too. Yes please to Stephen King and definitely Christopher Moore! Who am I kidding - all of them.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
It's nice seeing so many other people liking Christopher Moore. I don't really hear much about him on other blogs and booktube.
DeleteGreat list! I went to a Charlaine Harris event but it was huge so we didn't get to actually meet her. I was stuck way in the back so I couldn't even see very well but I did have fun anyway.
ReplyDeleteSometimes all the interaction can be the fun part anyway. Too much pressure meeting some of these people :)
DeleteSome heavy hitters on your list there! I would love to meet Stephen King and Anne Rice, but I doubt I'd ever be fortunate enough to have the chance :)
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a lot to say to Rice, but I would like for her to give me a graveyard tour in New Orleans. I think it'd be pretty terrifying.
DeleteI have never met any authors. I just don't do cons, or signings or anything fun I suppose. Neil Gaiman can to my hometown but I was out on business; that would have been one I made the trip for.
ReplyDeleteI'm not actively seeking out to meet any of these either. Matt Wallace connects with me some on twitter because I'm always reviewing his Sin du Jour series which I love. I don't like crowds so I can't see me going to too many events.
DeleteI'm torn about meeting authors in RL. I did so once and thought the author was really snooty. I haven't been able to read one of her books ever since :(
ReplyDeleteI should add that I toted out my toddler on a snowy day and was the only reader at the signing (at the time) and she could barely give me the time of day and gave me the strained/fake smile. Ugh, so disappointing!
DeleteGood picks! (Although I must admit, I don't know a couple of them.) I would love to meet Stephen King - especially if he brought his adorable corgi along!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes he has some really cute dogs and I love that he mentions them in his tweets and stuff.
DeleteMeeting Stephen King is THE DREAM.
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Anne Bishop's books - they bought them in to the library specially after I suggested them for stock, and I haven't even borrowed them yet! Whoops...
You should definitely start them - I love them.
