Weekly Reads (03/03/17)

Well, March sure came in like a lion here at The Farm.  We had storms on and off the whole night and day and poor T had to take some doggy Xanax (actually it's human Xanax - it's just in his name) to calm down.  Poor fellow can't catch a break.  Other than that though he and Cass are doing just fine and things at The Farm remain uneventful.

I've started working on the spare room that is to be my library again.  I took too long of a break from it over the holidays and never jumped back in.  I'm trying to throw a bunch of stuff out and am having fun discovering books I've set aside and forgotten all about.  I can't wait to paint and order some new shelves (Guess what color?)

We watched Dr. Strange the other night.  I have to admit I'm not that familiar with his story but Mr. Barb remembers him some. It was a pretty decent movie but the whole time it was on I kept thinking "Is this ever going to end?"  And then when it went off, I was like "It's over already?"  Very strange.  We also watched "Shut In."  I liked it a lot but Mr. Barb had it figured out and said he wasn't impressed.  It has an awesome winter setting though which is one of my faves for thriller/horror themed books and movies.

I have been managing to read some here and there and since my March TBR isn't any shorter than last month's, I better get a good jump on it this weekend and into next week.  Here's what's up on the stack.

Oh and we also finished watching "Taboo" this week.  I spent the entire season saying "Just one more episode" and now that season one is over, I STILL don't know if I liked it or really what know what it is all about.  #colormeconfused  However, Bates Motel kicked off last week and if the rest of the final season is even close to the first episode, it will be the best season yet!

So what are you planning this coming week???

  1. Poor Booker T! He's really having a bad time of it at the moment. If I win the lottery I'm buying a nice rural farm property and he can come for holiday visits to chill out! At the moment I'm starting to go through my books and get rid of the ones I won't be reading again even if I liked them. I just don't have space as I keep buying more zombies! I'll probably look at Dr Strange if I ever get time for film watching but it won't be priority at the moment. Books first!

    1. I know what you're saying about space. I'm trying to figure out how many shelves I can put in the room I'm working on and if it will be enough. Booker T would love to come visit and I think a rural farm would suit him just fine :)

  2. We had storms here but maybe not as bad as you had, but we did have to bring the outside dogs in cause Scooby (Great Dane and named correctly he is a afraid of everything), he gets anxiety with storms and thinks he needs to sleep with me, which isn't happening so I have to fight him off all night when it storms. (I don't need no hundred pound dog squashing me while I try and sleep...lol)

I want to see Dr. Strange, I don't know much about it either and I am curious about Shut In.

Your books look interesting so I hope you enjoy them! :)

    1. Well, I've already started The Night Ocean and so far I have a missing man and a lot of pages about Lovecraft's supposed sex life - strange. I really enjoyed Shut In and would recommend it for people who like snowy thrillers. Actually our town got pretty lucky and a lot of the heavier storms seemed all around us but we did have plenty of thunder and rain.

  3. I kept looking at Dr Strange thinking I should know something about it - but I can't remember ANYTHING! I want to watch it now. :)

Proof of Lies looks good on the cover and I also like the vibe of Supernatural Pet Sitter!

Hope you have a great reading week. :)

  4. I just started going through my books again and have several boxes full to get rid of. But I keep thinking I should go through them again to make sure. LOL Hang in there, ya'll. Spring is almost here.

  5. We had storms here this week and my youngest dog, Molly, is terrified of them. I may need to ask the vet about doggie Xanax. I am jealous of the fact that you are going to have your own library...I want one!

    1. It really has helped Booker and I was hesitant to put him on them but now I'm grateful.

  6. I liked Dr. Strange! Originally I was a bit skeptical of the casting because Dr. Strange has always been one of my favorite characters and I just didn't see Benedict Cumberbatch as a good fit for the role. His awesome performance changed my mind though!

    1. I think he did a good job. He really did seem to fit the role. I can't imagine anyone else portraying him.

  7. Poor Booker T! He really can't catch a break. I won't have a library until one of the kids move out but I'm looking forward to having floor to ceiling, wall to wall shelving and a big comfy chair and a door that I can close to block out the world! Good luck with yours!
