I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted byKimberly@Caffeinated Book Reviewer. I'm hoping to discover some new blogs to love.
I had to make a library run this week because I requested "Snotgirl" and it finally came in. Excited to see what this one has to offer and I've heard a few good things about it. I saw "Royce Rolls" while I was there and have been curious about it since Clare at Duel Reads read it. Finally, who can resist a new Joe Hill graphic novel so I grabbed "Tales from the Darkside" too.
I grabbed a few books for Paul Anka from Amazon. "Stillhouse Lake" was my Kindle first pick for the month of June. I loved the Veronica Stillwell series by Deanna Raybourn so when I saw "Silent in the Grave" for less than $2.00, I knew I wanted to give it a try. "Slippery Souls" was a free book and I couldn't resist it once I read the tagline. Tell me if you agree:
Welcome to a whacky world of vampires, werewolves & zombies!
...oh and a sarcastic, talking dog."
Finally I received a few review copies. "Shark Island" is one I'm thrilled to get especially since I feel in love with "Jaws" all over again on Memorial Day weekend. "How I Lost You" sounds like a pretty decent thriller. And "Einstein." Let met tell you about "Einstein." Charlie wakes up one night to find an alien in the house who tells him it's the end of the world and he is there to save Einstein - Charlie's dog. This book has me written all over it!
I like the sound of Slippery Souls...the cover had me thinking of the Sin De Jour books. Big Yes to Shark Island and I LOVE that cover! I'll check out both books on Goodreads. Nice mixture of books this week!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd love Shark Island and thought of both you and Stormi when I saw it!
DeleteEinstein made me laugh out loud! And I am so jealous you already have ac opy of Stillhouse Lake! I have to ask though what is the tagline for Slippery souls? I think it must be right in front of me, but it's not registering
ReplyDeleteIt's "Welcome to a whacky world of vampires, werewolves & zombies! ...oh and a sarcastic, talking dog." I tried to bold it so it would stick out but I think most people looked for it on the book cover. I'm so excited to have a copy of Stillhouse Lake too.
Deleteyou always find the best books! I went and got Slippery Souls. Love that cover and that title! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 more in the series I'm going to have to grab as well.
DeleteI didn't realize that Stacking the Shelves has another blog hosting, cool:-) Shark Island looks like lots of fun, and I love that cover!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I'm on a shark kick - I watched Jaws 2 this afternoon after seeing the first one on Memorial Day.
DeleteAwesome stack of books this week. I hope you love all of them.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Thanks Grace.
DeleteI have no idea what Snotgirl is about, but it looks like whatever it is, it's a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy all the books you've added to your shelves!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure either but I've heard good things.
DeleteEinstein is the name of the dog in Dean Koontz's Watchers. :) I look forward to seeing what you think of Shark Island. I noticed this past week there was only one review on Goodreads and it was a 1-star, but the review made me really want to read the book. It sounds like bloody good fun.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I enjoy a "b-movie" read and that's what this reminds me of.
DeleteSnotgirl....you have me really curious about that one. I picked Stillhouse Lake as my Kindle First pick this month as well. It wasn't a tough choice like it usually is. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think that many of the choices sounds good this time around but I would have picked this one anyway.
DeleteOh I want the shark one!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you might!
DeleteThat Rachel Caine book is calling to me! I'm curious how she handles mystery/thriller.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I hope well. Some of her other books are hit and miss for me.
DeleteYay for a good library run! The Raybourn cover is AMAZING! I picked up the Caine, too. Love her. Happy reading this week!
