This week we are looking at 10 books from (any genre) I recently added to my TBR. Anyone who has made a visit or two to The Farm know I read all sorts of genres and while I could easily come up with 10 dog-related books or 10 horror books, I decided to share a different interest this week. Therefore, I'm sharing my love of urban fantasy (which I do not read enough of)!
You may be asking, "Gee Barb, have you read the first 10? Did you enjoy them? You must have to have added this to your TBR. Answer - NOPE. Don't Judge.
I've read other things by this author and absolutely love her so I'm thrilled there's a new series starting out. It's about a demon hunter who is paying off a debt to free her ancestor, Lilith, from imprisonment. Sounds awesome right?
A story about a surfer chick who meets an odd boy who swims with sharks. You all have been warned, I'm on a real shark kick this summer!
This series features a graphic novelist starts writing about a troll who then suddenly appears in Manhatten. Sounds fun to me. Plus, I like trolls (but like gargoyles more). They seem kind of related to me. Plus, book 5 is called Sand Witches in the Hamptons - that kills me!
I already own the first book in this series (which puts me ahead of the Moonbreaker game) and have heard great things about it so I went ahead and picked this one up so onto the TBR it went!
Magic, science, witches and werewolves. All add up to a decent urban fantasy in my opinion. I've heard good things about this one too.
I have actually read the first one in this series and feel in love with the concept of the 4 Horses of the Apocalypse being demons in muscle cars. Can't wait to see what happens next (and I even have an ARC so I have no excuse not to jump back into this one.
I saw this for free a while back and since the first one is on the Kindle, I added this to the TBR as well.
It mentions "horror, humor and fast-paced action collide in a thrilling urban fantasy..." Sign me up.
"Hard work will pay off later. Laziness pays off now." Don't we all have days where we feel like that? I know I do.
So I really love urban fantasy and used to read it a lot. It seems to take a backseat a lot of the time on my TBR so I'm going to have to remedy that. Have you read any of these and what made it on your lists this week?
Wow, I haven't heard of a one of those. I don't mind UF but I find it's best for me to listen to than read, all that world building is much better when someone reads it to me...lol. Some of these look pretty good so I might make a note for later. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it when I read it but it seems I don't get around to it much.
DeleteI need more urban fanyasy. Westward to Strange and Blood Kissed both look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm just going to have to make a point to pick some up. I always seem to push it to the side.
DeleteI love these covers. Urban Fantasy is not my genre but nice covers. Hello from #getsocial17
ReplyDeleteThey do have some great covers and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBARB. Simon R Green is HILARIOUS! OMG! The Whole secret histories series have names that are a play on James Bond, which is what atrtacted me to the series in the first place. And then I got into it and it's brilliantly funny. And the snark! You should try his Nighside series too!!
ReplyDeleteYou've sold me - I love snark!
DeleteGreat list! Blood Kissed sounds really good! I'll have to add it to my TBR! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGlad to help :)
DeleteI have not heard of most of these. I have read Simon R Green but unlike your reader above found them too over the top for my taste.
ReplyDeleteIt seems I don't hear a lot about this author so I'm just going to have to try some myself.
DeleteOh you have put some good ones on your list! I have the Crossbreed series ready to start on my TBR. I just picked up the first one on sale a week or two ago. Also I'm reading the first Dru Jasper book right now, with book 2 already on my kindle. Great picks! #getsocial17
ReplyDeleteI loved the first Dru Jasper books and I've heard really good things about the Crossbreed novels. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteMost of these are new to me, but it sounds like you've got plenty of UF choices to last you a while:-) I especially love the sound of Trolls in the Hamptons!
ReplyDeleteYep, now if only I had more time to read them - haha.
DeleteI love UF, but I haven't read any of these series! I just added the upcoming Urban Enemies anthology to my GR shelf.
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog, visiting with #getsocial17 event.
I've seen that one as well and am very curious. Sometimes I find anthologies difficult because some authors include stories set in their series universes and if I haven't read them, then I feel lost. Hope that isn't the case with this one.
DeleteA bunch of new to me books. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
You're quite welcome!
DeleteNot familiar with these but some pretty covers as always! I hope you get some of these finished from your TBR I know mine grows faster than I can check them off lol My Top Ten
ReplyDeleteI think UF has some of the best covers around.
DeleteI've never seen that Troll book. Off to do a search because it is calling my name!
ReplyDeleteI am back after my 30 seconds of research and am saddened to learn that the romance is not with the troll :) I'll wait for review since they seem to be a little mixed.
ReplyDeleteYea but the whole series at least sounds like fun reads. Hopefully I'll at least get to the first one soon.
DeleteLilith is one of may favorites legends. My WIP is based on it so I'd read ALL THE LILITH books is I could :)
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in the Lilith stuff as well. Great minds think alike. Can't wait to learn more about your WIP.
DeleteOh my. I don't think I have heard of any of these books. I'm so behind on my tbr pile. The baby has been taking up every single second of my time lately.. I can barely keep up with it all! I am headed over to Goodreads to add some books to my tbr pile now! Great list (:
ReplyDeleteBabies cam do that but they bring so much joy as well!
DeleteI haven't heard of any of those but happy reading. Looks like a bunch of good books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Mary.
DeleteI'm looking forward to A Kiss Before Doomsday too and Also like the look of Slouch Witch.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Slouch Witch comes out tomorrow so I'm hoping to grab it.
DeleteI'm so excited about A Kiss Before Doomsday! I had a really good time with the first book.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
The first one was tons of fun!
DeleteUrban Fantasy? I'm in. Thanks for sharing. #getsocial17
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the post.
DeleteYou have some great looking books on your list, Barb! I'm particular to Keri Arthur's and Dannika Dark's. ;) I hope you get to them all soon! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brandee!
DeleteOh I love Keri Arthur! I hadn't seen that series yet. I'll have to check it out. It's been probably 6 years since I read her.
ReplyDeleteI think I read something by her years ago as well. I need to remedy that.
DeleteBarb, I always get the best recommendations from you! I've added over half of these books to my TBR. You're going to be the death of me.
ReplyDeleteI also add late books in series to my TBR - I'm glad it's not just me, because I've always felt so strange about it :P
Now we can both feel better huh? Sorry about adding to your TBR....not :)
DeleteI haven't heard of the majority of these but they all sound fantastic. I think The Spawn of Lilith needs to go on my TBR... and a few others. lol
ReplyDeleteI think that's one of my faves on the list and the author's other series was really good as well.
DeleteIf you like urban fantasy, have you tried the Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch? Best series ever!
ReplyDeleteAlso, nice to meet you, I'm visiting from #GetSocial2017 :)
No but I've always been interested in it. I'm gonna see if my library carries it.
DeleteI love Danika Dark, but I haven't started this new series yet! I will have to check it out. #Getsocial17
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look into some of her older stuff.
DeleteI really want to read Blood Kissed but havent' bought it just yet. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. Hope you end up grabbing it soon.
DeleteTruthfully, I haven't heard of any of these books before but they do sound good. Thanks for the info. I love your blog's appearance. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliment!
DeleteI need to get the Ann Christy book as I was intrigued by the story in the first one. Hopefully it appears free again at some point. I'm not a great fan of Keri Arthur or Dannica Dark but I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI see urban fantasy for free from time to time. I pretty much his centslessbooks.com every day to see the free listings and that's how I stumble across a lot of them.
