FROM GOODREADS: Welcome to Oddity, New Mexico, where normal is odd and odd is normal.
Ada Roundtree is no stranger to dodging carnivorous dumpsters, distracting zombie rabbits with marshmallows, and instigating games of alien punkball. But things haven't been the same since her twin sister, Pearl, won the town's yearly Sweepstakes and disappeared . . .
Along with her best friend, Raymond, and new-kid-from-Chicago Cayden (who's inability to accept being locked in the gym with live leopards is honestly quite laughable), Ada leads a self-given quest to discover Oddity's secrets, even evading the invisible Blurmonster terrorizing the outskirts of town.
But one of their missions goes sideways, revealing something hinky with the Sweepstakes . . . and Ada can't let it go. Because, if the Sweepstakes is bad, then what happened to Pearl?
Join a tough eleven-year-old as she faces down zombie rabbits, alien mobs, and Puppet Cartels while trying to find her missing twin in Sarah Cannon's imaginative middle-grade debut, Oddity.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: This middle grade tale sounds like tons of fun. I really want to learn more about zombie rabbits and Puppet Cartels, don't you? Also, aren't those zombie rabbits on the cover adorable???
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
This one sounds kind of amusing! I don't generally read middle grade books but I'll be interested in seeing reviews of this.
ReplyDeleteI like middle grade once in a while, especially when I am drawn to the subject matter. I don't even remember "middle grade" books when I was that age so I guess I missed out on a lot :)
DeleteI don't read much MG, and if I do it's usually by one of my favorite authors trying cross-genre. But this does look interesting!

I was attracted by the cover and the subject matter.
DeleteThe cover is adorable. Zombie rabbits! It sounds really good. Great pick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Can't-Wait Wednesday
Thanks Janea!
DeleteThat sound really fun! I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Jill!
DeleteI don't read many middle grade books, but this one sounds good. It sounds like it has elements that even an adult would enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYea, I love the supernatural elements and really need to know more about those rabbits.
DeleteThe cover looks really great! Alone for that I would get it *smile* Hope you´ll have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes

They did do a great job with the cover.
Deleteoh I haven't read a good middle grade in a while! I can't wit to hear what you think of this one! Zombie rabbits??? omg
ReplyDeleteCan't help but think of Bunnicula - even though he was a vampire bunny and not a zombie one.
DeleteOh my gosh...zombie rabbits?!!? I am quite tempted just for that :)
ReplyDeleteRight?
DeleteInteresting pick this week, Barb! I don't normally read middle-grade fiction, but I might give this one a try, even though there are zombie rabbits included. I don't like zombies, but I must say, the ones on this cover are cute! Maybe they just walk around like robots, and don't try to eat anybody. :) Besides, it sure sounds like there's some humor in this story.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it, which I think I will, also!
Thanks for commenting on my CWW post!! You and the boys ROCK. HUGS TO YOU ALL!!! And, of course, WOOF, WOOF!! Lol. <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
I can't imagine they would be that horrific. The cover sort of makes them look like sick rabbits with their little green faces - of course I guess you are sick if you are a zombie.
DeleteThis does sound like a lot of fun and I hope you love it.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Thanks Lynn.
DeleteThis sounds like such a fun read. That cover is adorable too.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is.
DeleteAwww...that book looks so cute!!! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW !

Loved your pick this week as well.
DeleteThat looks interesting. Zombie rabbits and carnivorous dumpsters? Fun!!
ReplyDeleteI think it might be a fun read for Halloween. If I had younger kids to buy things for they would definitely be getting a copy of this book.
DeleteThat does look fun! Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it's a fun as the cover.
DeleteThis sounds so fun! One book that I'm very impatiently waiting for is Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. I've been on the waiting list at the library for quite a while now, so I'm hoping it's my turn soon! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I've heard mixed things about Meddling Kids but I think it sounds fun so I still plan on reading it. Library wait lists stink!
DeleteI never read MG. Not because some of it doesn't sound cute, but I suppose more because I cannot keep up with the genres I do follow/read. Into that mix I do not need to add something else. ;) Hope you enjoy this one, Barb - and thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland!
ReplyDeleteIt can be hard to work everything into the reading schedule huh?
DeleteThis sounds like such a fun MG book! LOVE the cover!
ReplyDeleteThe purple doesn't hurt either.
DeleteI don't read a lot of middle grade, but I hope you like it! You're right, the zombie rabbits are adorable! This sounds like such a fun read. :D
ReplyDeleteI hope it is!
