The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but starting this week, they are handing over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE. Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.
This we we are sharing books we fell in love with, but as time has passed, we don't remember a whole lot about. Anyone who has been an avid reader for any amount of time should not have much trouble with this one. Sometimes, I'm lucky if I can remember yesterday. Anyways, here we go.
I adore horror and find John Saul to be a wonderful writer in the genre...so why don't I remember more about this book?
I know I loved this book and I think it's a very underrated series. I still need to read the last 2 in the trilogy but you know what's stopping me (besides the fact that my library has book 3 and
not book 2)? I don't remember what happened.
Ever amaze yourself when you're doing these lists? I loved Buehlman's "The Suicide Motor Club" and have wanted to read more of his stuff. This is even on my TBR. But I just discovered I already read it in 2011 and I guess I didn't really love it. I think a re-read may be in order because I can't imagine not loving this.
A 5/5 read for me. Wish I remembered more about it because it would make continuing the series much easier. I know it was about werewolves.
I remember this as a horror book which wasn't really horror - it had A LOT of humor in it. And I loved this one and the second. Then why has the third been on my nightstand for 5 years? I don't remember a lot and can't bear to pick it up. Actually - it may have fallen beneath the bed by now. Such bad book treatment I know.
Come on - you knew there would be a dog in here somewhere.
Apparently I liked book 2 better than book 1 - but I couldn't tell you why (but apparently not enough to read book 3)
Hmmm...witches maybe?
You know what I remember about "The Hunger?" David Bowie. Nope, he wasn't in the book, but he was in the movie - which I really don't remember either. But I loved both for some reason.
Utterly clueless.
So there you go. I've realized I need to make a point to read the third book in the Married With Zombies book, start the Cherie Priest series over again, and re-read the Christopher Buehlman book again. Was that the point of this TTT - I think not!
(BTW, you can click on the covers if you want to learn more about these books)
Heh yup we all have that list. The pup one looks very cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sweet read - I do remember that much!
DeleteI have a few of Julie Kagawa's books but am yet to read any of them - if this list was books you forget you have on your shelves, I definitely would have featured her on mine!
ReplyDeleteMost of your choices are books that I'm interested in, but keeping forgetting about (especially Married With Zombies, which I've wanted to read for the longest time). There are just too many books to remember them all.
I totally agree Alyce.
DeleteI've read a few of these too and can't remember much about them even though I liked them. It shows how much we read when we forget why we liked them. LOL
ReplyDeleteHow true.
DeleteI remember thinking I should read Those Across the Water, but I just haven't had time. And I don't think I've read The Wolf Gift, but I may have a copy😀
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it but there's just been too much time between it and the sequel. In fact, I think I liked it better than her vampire series - which wouldn't surprise me. I liked the witch series better too!
DeleteWell, you're doing better than me. I LOVED that Cherie Priest book but didn't even know there were two more ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! But hey, I'm just surprised I found someone else who has read it!
DeleteI have the Cherie Priest book on my bookshelf. I picked it up after meeting her at an event at my local library. That was too many years ago. :D
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!
She's one of my favorite authors. I'd love to meet more authors but most don't come to my state for events.
DeleteI remember trying two John Saul books and not taking to them at all, though I don't remember why. I have DNFed a few of these books over the years but remember nothing about them!
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely not one of favorite horror writer. I've read several of his books but remember very little about them.
DeleteSuper cute post title :) I find this list topic to be so funny because no one remembers the books very well - it's hard to get recommendations out of it! I enjoyed making mine though. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll be by to check out more of your content!
ReplyDelete- Megan @ The Hungry Bookworm
Thanks Megan, I look forward to seeing you here at The Farm.
DeleteI love this entire post. Sadly, I haven't read most of these. John Saul is someone I've been meaning to read for a while now. I could just put this entire list on my TBR! The Lucky Dog might have to be first. How cute is that cover?
ReplyDeleteI remember that book being really sweet. Not sticky cute but a nice light read nonetheless.
DeleteHaha, I totally relate to sometimes having trouble remembering what happened yesterday :) Hope you'll get to re-read some of these this year!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lindsey.
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these books, but I may have to check some of them out when I have some time to indulge in my love of horror.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. - Katie
Yes, people should read more horror so I'm glad I could enable you.
DeleteI've often thought the Eternity Cure sounded cool, but I haven't read 'em yet.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, it's not a bad series. The vamps are sweet and sparkly and I always consider that a plus.
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but I like the sound of Married with Zombies. Sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteIf you want a humorous read, definitely give the series a try!
DeleteI'm the same. Once I finish I've been known to forget the main characters name within hours. lol
ReplyDeleteFor What It's Worth
I've done review before and had to look the names back up. Guess I'm not a detail person.
DeleteGreat list and I don't really know any of those but I like the looks of some of them. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you'd love the Cherie Priest one. I'm planning on reading the trilogy sometime this year and will have to reread this one.
DeleteYeah yesterday is definitely kind of blurry! I haven't read any of these but it's crazy the books we forget. Periodically I'll have one random memory of the book and that's it.
ReplyDeleteI can fully understand. Some books really stand out and rarely leave...others, not so much. Do you think we are more apt to remember the books we read we DIDN'T like?
DeleteOh the eternity cure has been on my tbr for a long time. But I understand I don't remember most things in life but I can remember a plot or series from years ago easy peasy...
ReplyDeleteI really should finish that series.
DeleteI have not heard of any of these books. However, I have heard of Julie Kagawa. In fact she might have been at a convention I was at once. But I didn't buy her book lol.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the only series by her I've read. And even then, I didn't read book 3. I think she wrote Talon though and I also have that one.
DeleteHaha, I'm with you on The Wolf Gift. To be fair to the book, I didn't love it and only thought it was okay. Still, I barely remember what happened in it, just the general gist of a guy who goes to some house in the woods and yes, something something werewolves :P
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I forgot - yes there is a house, but for some reason, I remember it being on a cliff. Maybe that Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.
DeleteI usually remember more than I think when I actually start a re-read but I am bad at remember books. I don't think I have read any from your list but I know I have a copy of Married With Zombies on my kindle.
ReplyDeleteYea, I start rereading and then it comes back. Not enough to skip them and finish the series but enough that I want to put them down - so not good!
DeleteI almost included The Wolf Gift on my list too, but had to narrow it down. I'll definitely need to re-read it if I want to continue reading that series.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday I'll pick it up again. I will always be in love with the cover though.
DeleteI've not read any of these, but some look very interesting. And again my tbr grows!
ReplyDeleteGlad to help :)
DeleteI haven't read any of these but they do look quite interesting :) I hope you get to re-read a few of them soon :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Deletewow I'm so sure I left a comment here yesterday! So weird! I had said that I didn't participate in this TTT because I would have to list ALL books I read more than a week ago because of my Dory Brain! :) Isn't that sad when we don;t remember a book?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to locate your missing comment :) I knew where it was all along!
DeleteI didn't enjoy Those Across the River either. Wow, I've had a copy of Wither forever. I need to read it someday. I can't remember what it's about either. I hope it is about witches. Haha!
