Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: Fasten your seatbelts for an anthology of turbulent tales curated by Stephen King and Bev Vincent. This exciting new anthology, perfect for airport or airplane reading, includes an original introduction and story notes for each story by Stephen King, along with brand new stories from Stephen King and Joe Hill.
About the Book:
Stephen King hates to fly.
Now he and co-editor Bev Vincent would like to share this fear of flying with you.
Welcome to Flight or Fright, an anthology about all the things that can go horribly wrong when you're suspended six miles in the air, hurtling through space at more than 500 mph and sealed up in a metal tube (like—gulp!—a coffin) with hundreds of strangers. All the ways your trip into the friendly skies can turn into a nightmare, including some we'll bet you've never thought of before... but now you will the next time you walk down the jetway and place your fate in the hands of a total stranger.
Featuring brand new stories by Joe Hill and Stephen King, as well as fourteen classic tales and one poem from the likes of Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, Dan Simmons, and many others, Flight or Fright is, as King says, "ideal airplane reading, especially on stormy descents... Even if you are safe on the ground, you might want to buckle up nice and tight."
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I got an email from Cemetery Dance a week or so ago advertising this book. I'm usually not big on limited editions or mega-expensive books but when I saw King's name, and then looked at some of the authors, I had to preorder it. Now I just have to wait - and the wait is real!!!
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR????
LMAO, I have to laugh at a book about the horrors of flying otherwise I'd go whimper in a corner! I'll wait for your revoew on this one!
ReplyDeleteA little secret is I don't travel much and have never flown. Thus I know these shouldn't bother me too much:)
DeleteI'm glad you're as excited about this book as I am...and I can't wait, either!
ReplyDeleteI know. I wish the wait wasn't so long.
DeleteOh I got that email too😁 I'm tempted to preorder it as well, it sounds like a great collection of stories, some familiar and some not!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist and I think it's almost sold out so I'm glad I did.
DeleteThis does not help me not wanting to get on a plane. Lol... But is sounds like a great read! 🙂
ReplyDeleteI don't fly but I can imagine this might be a tough read for people who do.
DeleteNo, no, no - I don't think I could read this book, I don't need any more reasons to dislike flying! But it does sound like a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela!
DeleteI'm not a comfortable flier either. You know, I think that Stephen King has often written about things that scare him. Guess that's how he deals with the fears. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of cool that he does that. I know he prefers the land to the sky. Although I know his book Tommyknockers involved flying and I have to admit, that's one of his books I couldn't get through, and there haven't been many.
DeleteOH NO. I am already afraid of flying and I will have to get on a plane for a trip we are planning, not happy about the ride. I think I'll have to wait on this one.LOL
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Yes, don't read this until after your trip.
DeleteSounds like a really good collection. Looking forward to your review of it! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura.
DeleteI've not heard of this, but it sounds interesting! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Natalie.
DeleteOoooh, a lovely new hardcover from CD and King! Great choice.
ReplyDeleteThey have such cool books and luckily, I didn't think this one was too high!
DeleteI haven't heard about this one before but I really need to read more King! I hope you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn.
DeleteI love Stephen King so this is a must get for me. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteMary my Can’t Wait Wednesday!
King is my fave so I couldn't resist.
DeleteI wouldn't choose to read this on a flight - but it looks a wonderful anthology:)). Many thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy it, Barb.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine some of the stares you would get from other people if you read this on a plane??? That would be kind of funny and sounds like something I would do.
DeleteOh man, I hate flying too. I'm not sure this would be the best read for me. lol But a new Joe Hill story too? I might have to give it a shot then.
ReplyDeleteIt has such great authors. I'm so excited.
DeleteOh this would be awesome as long as I was NOT on a plane. I hate flying anyway :)
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I don't fly so this book really won't effect me much.
DeleteOooh! A Stephen King novel! Awesome pick!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!

Love you choice this week as well!
DeleteOh my, I think this would give me a heart attack. I'm terrified of flying as it is, lol. Great pick though. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI haven't seen this one before but it looks like a great collection. I hope you love it, Barb!
ReplyDeleteMe too Carole!
DeleteThat list of authors with stories in this anthology has me wanting to read it as well. Definitely not a book for my husband--at least before we fly again. Haha I bet this will be good.
ReplyDeleteYes, not a book to sell in airports huh?
DeleteEek, no thanks! I have a fear of flying...I don't think I'll be able to handle this one! :D
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Yep, you should probably stay away from it then.
DeleteIt's been awhile since I've read a Stephen King book! His stories always make me want to *not* do something, so I'll probably never want to fly again.
ReplyDeleteDo You Dog-ear?
You have a very valid point about King books. He's good at getting us to "not" do things.
DeleteJoe Hill's story is really disturbing. Steve & I hope every airport bookstore stocks this one!
ReplyDeleteI mentioned above that seeing this book on a plane and in airports would be hilarious. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting - you've made my day!
DeleteAH! This sounds awesome!!! I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI thought you might like this one!
DeleteI never read anthologies as they are so hit and miss but I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time reading anthologies on my Kindle and usually have to have them in physical form.
DeleteThis sounds good but I'm going on vacation in a couple of months, so maybe I shouldn't read it.
ReplyDeleteWait until AFTER vacation!
DeleteI do tend to fly around quite a bit so I probably wouldn't read this - it would give me too many fears. I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Probably not one you are anxious to pick up then. I can totally understand.
DeleteOoh this sounds like an excellent read!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley.
DeleteSo this is one that you don't want to read if you are planning a trip that involves flight! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not!
Deleteomg I get nervous about flying with no extra help! TThis would be a true horror story!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read King...but I do hope that you love this one!
ReplyDeleteOooohh....Steven King is involved here? Let me run the other way! :) But seriously, I would not be able to take this, because I'm one of those people who is THE BIGGEST CHICKEN EVER when it comes to flying!! Lol. But of course I do hope you enjoy this one!!
