So it's been a busy book week here at The Farm but we are all bookworms and love books so that really shouldn't be a problem huh? First up are two books I won in Goodreads' Giveaway and the third in a book an author sent me unsolicited. I won "Mr. Flood's Last Resort" which sounds kind of quirky and is a mystery to boot and "Smothered" from Goodreads. Diane Moat contacted me earlier this week about her new release. I've been waiting forever for a sequel to "Dog Gone" and didn't even know she had one coming out. She graciously sent me a copy of "Dog Fight" and it arrived Thursday. I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT!
Next there were a couple of books I wanted but my library didn't have them. They have an on-line form you can fill out for requests and they actually ordered them and as of yesterday, I already have them in my greedy little hands. I remember the late 80's and early 90's all too well and always thought Samantha Fox was an interesting character. I like memoirs and it's fairly short so I think "Forever" might be interesting. I've wanted "Outpost" since I first saw the cover and the dog lover in me couldn't resist the wolf on the cover of "The Wild Inside."
And finally it seems the Netgalley requests have been pouring in. In my defense, I didn't get all of these this week and haven't showed the Netgalley books in several posts. "The Witch of Willow Hall" is a historical fiction about witches so yep - sign me up. "A People's History of the Vampire Uprising" doesn't sound like sparkly vampires so I'm on board for that too. And a lot of people know I love Hunter Shea so I had to grab "Jurassic Florida."
"Grounds for Remorse" is the second book in a cozy series, "Ghost Virus" is horror and "Burning Ridge" is in the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery series. I couldn't pass it up.
So what books did you grab this week????
I'm excited because I also got the new Hunter Shea. I've been wanting to try him since you are such a big fan. You made me do it! Outpost was fantastic, I hope you love it as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteI remember your review which is one of the reasons I asked my library to get a copy. I hope you like Shea. His books are kind of like 80 creature films.
Deletewow! lots of great looking books and I like that most of them have dogs on the cover. I haven't requested much from NetGalley lately. I do have two requests that I hope I get. Enjoy all your books.
ReplyDeleteI just got a new one this week which is a non-fiction about dogs. I bet you requested that one :)
DeleteI'm so looking forward to Jurassic Florida when I can grab the paperback!
ReplyDeleteHe has some good looking books coming out this year.
DeleteThe Witch of Willow Hall caught my attention too! Enjoy your new books and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy Weekend Wrap-up post
Gotta love witches!
DeleteI got a lot of books from NetGalley and Edelweiss last week, too!
ReplyDeleteSeeing Samantha Fox on that cover definitely brought me back to my youth :) I hope the book about her is interesting, Barb.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

Me too. I really thought she was fun back then (even if she wasn't extremely talented) so I hope to find out a few interesting things about her.
DeleteI remember Samantha Fox!! (80's anyone?) I hope you like that read, congrats on the wins!! I got a couple this week too!!

Yep, I'm a total 80's gal!
DeleteWhat a selection of books! :-) Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely quite a variety.
DeleteVampire Rising one is EYE catching ;-) Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny - and yes, it is.
DeleteSamantha Fox memoir? Cool! Jurassic Florida- oh my gosh I love that!!!
ReplyDeleteHave you read Shea? You should give him a try.
DeleteSo many books that I'd like to read too! I pre-ordered Jurassic Florida and then found it on Netgalley so requested it there and don;t have to wait. LOL
ReplyDeleteWaiting is no fun huh?
DeleteI've heard a lot of great things about Outpost, it's apparently quite a hidden gem. I'm also curious about that Vampire Uprising book, so looking forward to see what you think of that.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I remember Tammy loving Outpost so I hope I do too.
DeleteI never win books from Goodreads, and I just figured out if I move books from my "want to read" shelf to my wishlist shelf, it voids my entry. :( I only like to keep books I own on my "want to read" shelf. I'm going to have to figure out a system if I want to ever win anything.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do win them, they always come in waves of 2 or 3. I wonder what's up with that?
DeleteOoh, that wolf cover is cool. I hope you have a great week and love your new books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I've always loved wolves so yea, it got my attention too.
DeleteJurassic Florida sounds like a great book.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
It should be a fun read.
DeleteI have been chilling off of NetGalley for a while, and I am happy about that :) just hauled one book this week, can you believe it!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, happy reading :)
Good for you! I should practice more restraint.
DeleteOh gosh. I've heard of none of these. Yikes. Hope you enjoy them though. Thanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Farm as well.
DeleteI've interested in Mr. Flood's Last Resort.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all of your delightful looking books...and thanks for visiting my blog.
I love the cover on the arc so much. The one on the actual release - not so much.
DeleteLast year I got super behind on my challenge and started reading a bunch of random cozy mysteries, and I discovered I really liked them. Who knew?! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun to break the monotony with some of my darker, scarier reads.
DeleteYou added plenty this week Barb. That's great to hear that all your requests came through. The Witch of Willow Hall looks interesting. Enjoy all your new reads.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jovita!
DeleteLooks like an amazing haul for you this week...and your post inspired me to play one of my favorite games on Netgalley: How low are the publisher's standards? (I have an abysmal feedback percentage right now, but there are some books I just have to at least try to get.)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week. - Katie
Hmmm...I think I play that game as well :)
DeleteMy library also let's us recommend books for them to buy but I can only do one book a month :( I'm so jealous you can order more than one LOL but happy to hear your greedy little hands are filled with all these so desired goodies :) HAHA funny how I also wanted "Outpost" since I saw the cover! Isn't it just SO US? ;-) I think I requested "The Witch of Willow Hall" too. Or I hope I did! I may have not because I'm falling behind with my ARCs due to a mini slump. :(
ReplyDeleteOnly one - that stinks!
DeleteLooks like Netgalley got you! I've been very successful with my promise to myself to stay away from there :) Enjoy all of your reads this week.
ReplyDeleteYep, it definitely attacked when I wasn't looking ;)
DeleteQuite a haul! I need to look at Ghost Virus, just because it has virus in the title. :D Studying diseases is my thing, so horror based on something viral sounds entertaining... Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt might be one that you would enjoy then!
DeleteCongrats on winning some books, and that's awesome the author sent you a copy of one you've been looking forward to! That vampire book sounds pretty unique!
ReplyDeleteYep and I already had another author send me one this week. I'm on a roll!
DeleteCongrats on the wins! I love it when I actually win a book or two :) I hope you enjoy all of these!
