TTT - Review Books I WILL Read This Summer

The top 10 weekly meme used to be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish but starting this week, they are handing over the reins to ThatArtsyReaderGirl who can be found HERE.  Each week she will focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading.

This week's topic is books to read by the pool or at the beach.  I do neither.  I prefer "Porchville."  I nice shady place where the dogs can relax and Mr. Barb and I can share a drink or two.  In addition, if there is too much heat, Porchville has an electrical socket so I can always BYOF - Bring Your Own Fan.  So I'm going to share some review books I must make time for this summer - perhaps will relaxing in Porchville - not to be confused with Margaritaville, though they might be neighboring countries.

I love this cover and you guys know I love Hunter Shea so "Rattus New Yorkus" is a definite must-read.

Gotta have at least one dog book - although I'm sure they'll be more.  "In the Dog House" is the start of a new cozy series.

Described as a Gothic read, "Girl at the Grave" is a historical mystery I'm super excited for this summer.

I think summer is perfect for some middle grade and "Rules of the Ruff" fits that bill.  Plus, I never tired of seeing that adorable cover.

Since thrillers seem to be popping up around every corner, I might as well as "Sister of Mine" to the summer TBR.  It's about two sisters bound together by murder.

I'm hoping "The Mermaid" sits better with me than "To Kill a Kingdom."  I'd hate to give up on mermaids altogether.

Hailed as a combination of Sharp Objects and Stand By Me, "Big Woods" has some mighty big shoes to fill.

"You Lucky Dog" is on standby for when I need a lighter read.  Plus, the cover just reminds me of summer.

So many people are already raving about "The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle."  I can't wait to get started.

I can't believe I haven't read "Trail of Lightning" yet so I must remedy that this summer.

So there you have it.  Of course, there will also be more mystery, horror and dog books as well as library books abound - looks like it's shaping up to be a good summer.

  1. Girl at the Grave is one of my "Mights" this summer, to borrow your wording from your blog feature :D Trail of Lightning, however, is a definite "MUST!"

    1. Couchville is awesome too. That's probably where I do most of my reading to be truthful. Seven Death is getting a lot of hype - we'll see. I don't have great luck with hype!

  4. Wow, great list. I'm reading The Mermaid right now and it's really good. I haven't read To Kill a Kingdom, but this one is more historical than fantasy. Trail of Lightning is also on my TBR and I have a copy of Girl at the Grave so I'll probably read that too😁

  9. I have The Mermaid, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet! It's been awhile since I've read a really great mermaid book. Sister of Mine looks really good, too! I'm going to add it and Girl at the Grave to my list. <3

  19. I'm sure that fan will come in handy this summer! I'm probably more likely to read on the porch too--until it's too hot. Then I'll just open the blinds and stay inside where it's air conditioned.

As always, I find myself wanting to copy and paste your entire list onto my wish list. A couple of these are already on my TBR pile, but they all sound so good. I hope you are able to get to them--and love them!

  22. Looks like you have some good review books lined up! I keep going back and forth about requesting Rattus. It look spectacular but I have too many books already that I must read. I don't want to fall into the Netgalley sinkhole again :) I also wish I had a Porchville. We have a pool but it's a PIA most of the time because it's either too cold outside, too buggy, or isn't working correctly. Boo hoo, I know but seriously I'd so much rather have a porch at this point in my life.

  23. Reading with the pups is the best, in any season. Rules of the Ruff looks super cute :)

  24. The Mermaid sounds interesting. I'm not too familiar with the other books yet.

  25. I used to love the pool and beach, but at this point in life, I definitely prefer porchville. Insideville is even better. :-P Some interesting looking books here! Hopefully you'll find a mermaid book you like!

  26. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is also on my TBR. So is Trail of Lightning! And uh-oh... To Kill a Kingdom wasn't good? I took a chance on a random YA and picked a copy of that up recently... I really just need to stay away from YA, I'm sure I'd be happier. lol Happy reading!
