So for the Dogs Days of Summer Challenge, the hosts suggested that you can even share some dogs stories so I told Mom it would be great if Cass and I could share our Homecoming tales.
So I was basically a present for dear old dad. I used to have the best brothers in the world - Cooper and Barkley. Well Cooper suffered from separation anxiety and Barkley was starting to get older. Mom and Dad feared that if something happened to Barkley, Coop couldn't handle being an only child so they had been talking for several months about adding to the family. Mom knew a woman through her old job and learned that a family in Ohio was having a litter of pups. So one day she and Dad drove to Ohio to a vet office to "just look." They both stated that just because they were looking didn't mean that they were buying - but Mom had cash in hand "just in case."
The family has 12 pups so they kept bringing them out in groups to meet Mom and Dad. I was part of the first group and I crawled on Dad's shoulder and proceeded to fall asleep. I was no fool and my instincts were on target - I knew these were awesome dog people. Well Mom and Dad proceeded to look at all of the pups and Mom told Dad to pick the one he wanted and it would be his gift. Well, he looked at her and said "I don't think I have much of a choice, this one hasn't moved since he first came out." They woke me up, put a leash on me and off I went. I was thrilled! My plan worked. I went home and the next day they threw me a huge party (yea, it as also July 4th but I know it was for me). I had two awesome brothers, Cooper and Barkley, and then when Coop passed, we eventually got Cass (don't tell him because it will go to his head but I love him too - even if he did try to eat me once).
So I've been with Mom and Dad a tad over 8 years and it's been awesome. I have plenty of toys, plenty of beds and blankets throughout the house and plenty of food and snacks. I also go on lots of walks and car rides. Dad says I was the best pup they ever had because I never did tear up anything. Mom says I'm "golden" and Dad just refuses to remember and that I just got away with more. So I blew the porch door off the hinges one day - what's the big deal? I still managed to get my own blog.
Make sure to stop by next week and get Cass' Homecoming tale.

ReplyDeleteI will have Mom do another post soon. I will tell that story as well as the one where I threw up in Dad's shoe - and STILL remained golden.
