Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: Based on one of the most successful paranormal podcasts ever, with over 10 million streams and downloads to date, Unexplainedconsists of ten chapters focussing on a different paranormal event, from Australia to Germany, the UK to Zimbabwe, using the stories as gateways to a journey beyond the veil of the uncanny, exploring what they reveal of the human experience.
Taking ideas once thought of as supernatural or paranormal and questioning whether radical ideas in science might provide a new but equally extraordinary explanation, Unexplained is The Examined Life meets The X Files.
'A grisly treat' Financial Times on the podcast.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I saw someone hauling this on Booktube and I have to admit, I became very curious. I'm not big on podcasts but can see my trying to get hold of this one for the Halloween season.
WHAT BOOK ARE YOU WAITING FOR THIS WEEK?
This would be fun for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm thinking. Wish it came out earlier in the month.
DeleteI never watch podcasts or thinks like Booktube I must admit. I just don't have the time! Spooky stuff for Halloween season is always fun though. I'm already planning a month of horror books and films!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really caught on with the podcast craze. I do listen to Books in the Freezer sometimes to get indie horror recommendations.
DeleteThis looks interesting -- I've just been getting into podcasts, and the mention of Australia here was unexpected!~
ReplyDeleteThat would probably be super interesting for you. I love to find true horror/paranormal stuff in my area.
DeleteYou always find such creeptastic sounding books! This one would probably give me nightmares. Not a big fan of paranormal. Hope you like it though.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in at least checking it out.
DeleteThis sounds tempting, I have to admit, and I never read non fiction. I hope you get a hold of it so I can read a review😁
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to read a tad more, but not a lot. I like my books fictional - real life is non-fiction enough.
DeleteOh man, I couldn't add this to my TBR fast enough. I hadn't heard about this one, thanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could enable you for a change!
DeleteI don't read a lot of non-fiction, okay, I don't read any - but this one interests me, truth being stranger than fiction sometimes. Definitely intrigued.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Awesome. Hope we both get a chance to check it out.
DeleteHi, Barb!
ReplyDeleteOMG.... "a grisly treat"? I guess I should stop right there, right? Lol. On the other hand.... I could get this book from the library some time in the future (after it's published, of course), and just read part of it. I looked it up on Goodreads, and there's a story about demonic possession included. THAT I would skip. But there are other stories I am DEFINITELY interested in -- UFOs in Rendlesham Forest, and reincarnation in Middlesborough. (Sounds like most of the stories took place in the UK.)
So yeah, this is one for me to check out of the library, and only read the NON-GRISLY parts! LOL.
Glad to see you pick a nonfiction book, btw!! :)
Thanks for featuring this book!! Thanks as well for commenting on my own CWW post!! HUGS TO YOU AND THOSE ADORABLE PUPS, AND "WOOF, WOOF" TO THEM!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Well, the good thing about this one is you could hit or miss what you want to read and still get the jest of the book.
DeleteI very rarely read non fiction, but this one sounds like it'd be really interesting!
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteSounds interesting. Although I don't usually read non-fiction.
ReplyDeleteMe either. At least not too much of it.
DeleteI have watched a few podcasts. Sounds like a creepy book. I will have to check this one out. Great pick this week.
ReplyDeleteMary my CWW!
I may check out the podcasts sometime.
DeleteThis does sound like it is a bit spooky and perfect for fall reading. I hope that you enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThis sounds really interesting! I have never heard of this before but I am definitely interesting. I hope you love it :)
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across it on Booktube. Seems I have no trouble finding books.
DeleteThis sounds really interesting! It sounds absolutely perfect for an October read.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteI agree that it would make for an excellent Halloween read.
ReplyDeleteYep, the release date is perfect.
DeleteWell this one is a bit different - and sounds like an ideal read over Halloween - enjoy, Barb:)
ReplyDeleteThanks SJ!
DeleteI'm not familiar with this one or the podcast it's based on, but I'm very curious. I can't believe October is right around the corner. I need to start working on my TBR for the month. Any book in particular you're looking to pick up this Halloween season?
ReplyDeleteI've preordered one from Cemetery Dance called
Delete"On This, the Day of the Pig" from Josh Malerman. Should be here in October. I'm also hoping to do a re-read of "Christine" by Stephen King as it's been YEARS since I read it. Any certain types of scary you like?
Oh yeah. I love this stuff!
ReplyDeleteGlad to help!
DeleteOh, wow, I am completely fascinated by this one. I am adding it, too. I hope you are able to read it, Barb!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and am glad you like it!
DeleteI used to love these types of books and stories as a kid! As an adult, I don't read as much non-fiction anymore, but I would love to get back into something like this.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
It has to be certain types of non-fiction for me to consider it. Not big on medical or self help books.
DeleteYou know I've never listened to a podcast either but this does sound kind of interesting. For sure could be fun around Halloween to get in the spirit!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteAre any of them ghost stories?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think there are some gathered in it.
DeleteThis does sound intriguing! I don't listen to podcasts myself, but I do love stories about the paranormal. I will have to check this one out--and maybe the podcast too. Thanks for sharing, Barb!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome. Thanks for stopping by The Farm!
