Weekly Reads (09/14/18)

Another week in the books.  I tell you I don't know where time is going.  Everything has been great at The Farm and the pups and I really want to take a moment to send good thoughts to everyone in the path of Hurricane Florence.  Stay safe guys!

So it seems we've been watching quite a bit of recorded TV as some of our faves are either in full swing or starting.  We started watching "The Purge" on USA because Mr. Barb loves those movies and I have to admit that after 2 episodes, I'm intrigued.  Also, "Mr. Mercedes" continues to be a weekly draw.  We also recorded the first episode of "American Horror: Apocalypse" but haven't watched it yet.  The trailer dropped for "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" for Netflix and I can't wait to watch it over the Halloween holiday.

Booker T and Cass are fine and Booker T gets his stitches out this weekend.  He never bothered them ONCE and for that I'm grateful.  I still don't think he knows he has them.  Oh well, fine by me.

I have been getting some reading done and it has picked up since football started.  I love reading and watching.  Plus it rained all last weekend so it was a good excuse to stay inside.  I was going to do a TBR but really am just in the mood to grab things this month so since it's already the 14th, I figure I'll just go with it.  These are the books I do plan on starting next though.  Consider it a mini-TBR.

Well, hope everyone has a great week ahead and again - stay safe!

  1. I'm so glad Booker T has come through the operation with little trouble. It must be such a relief. My dad loves the Purge films but I haven't seen them yet. Hopefully I'll see them next month! Cabin at the end of the world is still on the tbr.

  2. I really want to read The Cabin at the End of the World - the library wait list is moving really slowly!

    1. It usually does when you really want something. I started it last night - so far so good.

  3. I didn't really like Tremblay's last book so I probably won't read this one, I'll just wait to read your review😃

  4. I didn't finish Give the Dark My Love. I thought it was boring and there was some animal cruelty to rats so beware.

    1. Okay, I don't even know that I want to read about rat cruelty now. I think I'll let my First Reads book expire and grab it from the library someday.

  5. the Hollow of Fear looks creepy - hope you enjoy it and look forward to your thoughts.
It's so much nicer when your dog is blissfully unaware of these procedures -even if we still get totally stressed by them.

    1. That series is great and I can't wait to start it. Yes, it was definitely a case of us being more stressed than Booker T.

  6. My dog had a similar procedure and never slowed down or bothered his stitches either. Glad to hear Booker T is all better now. I've been watching Once Upon A Time from the beginning as they just added another season on Netflix. And I ordered the DVD set for Game Of Thrones as I want to be ab;e to watch them whenever I want and get ready for the final season.

    1. You and Stormi are both caught up in OUAT lately. I'm dreadfully behind on that one.

  7. If I can I'd like to check out Give the Dark my Love as well, since I was able to snag an audio copy. And curious what you'd make of Cabin at the End of the World. It was not what I expected.

    1. I had to go back and read your review again when I finished it. I'd say both of us were a tad disappointed in it.

  8. My husband and I have been watching a lot of baseball and some football together. I love to watch and read myself. I have a copy of Give the Dark My Love from First to Read but I am not sure that I am going to get to it before it expires. I may have to grab a library copy later.
