October's Down for the Count...

...or previously known as my monthly wrap up.  So I've continued on with the revamping and this just seemed fitting with my new Monthly Contenders feature so I hope you all like it.  October seemed to fly by.  I planned on reading ALL of the horror - seriously, all of it, but somewhere along the way life got in the way.  That being said, I still managed to read 7 full-length novels so heck, I'll take it.  On to the books!

An Easy Death: Charlaine Harris 5/5
The Boy at the Keyhole: Stephen Giles 2/5
Slender Man: Anonymous 3/5
The Elizas: Sara Shepard 4/5
The Bus on Thursday: Shirley Barrett 4/5
Coraline: Neil Gaiman 4/5
You May Now Kill the Bride: R.L.Stine 3/5

My favorite read was definitely "An Easy Death" closely followed by "The Bus on Thursday."  My least favorite was "The Boy at the Keyhole" and if you read my review, no surprise there.  I have to look and see what's on the stack for November.  I know there will still be some horror but I have some cozies and Christmas books I need to work in as well.

How did you do this month????

  1. That's pretty good when the majority of the books you read rate 4-stars or higher. :)

  2. So excited for your 5/5 rating for Charlaine Harris' book! I can't wait to read it! And I didn't get to read as much horror for October as I wanted, but it was mainly poor planning on my part.

  4. How is it already November?! I am really wanting to pick up the new Charlaine Harris book. Life often does get in the way doesn't it?

  5. I'm sorry you didn't like The Boy at the Keyhole! I recently won a copy, but haven't had a chance to read it for myself. I've seen a few mixed reviews for it, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

  6. I started another Pegasus Quincy book by Lakota Grace. I just love the Pegasus detective character. (Not a real detective . . . it's kind of half cozy, half police procedural.) Pegasus is such a NORMAL, relatable woman.

    1. I think when I try to read a lot, I end up doing worse than when I don't try!

  9. I wanted to read all spooky books in October, but the same thing happened to me. Life (and tempting new releases) got in the way. Have a great November!

  11. Life's always getting in the way of our reading time! I'll have to go check out your review for The Boy at the Keyhole--I've been interested in it, but haven't heard much about it so I'd love to see why it didn't work for you. I love Coraline, it's such a great October read! Hope you have a great November!

  12. I can't wait to read Charlaine's new book. It sure is getting a lot of praise. I'm doing cozies and light mysteries this month. A break after all that horror. LOL But I'm sure some will sneak there way in:)

  14. I'm afraid to look and see how I did in October. The month really did fly by, and things were crazy around the Book Den household. It looks like you did great despite the month flying by!
