What's Happening...(03-16-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So I hope you all are well.  Everyone is great here at the Farm.  My cold is almost 100% gone.  Also, Mr. Barb is almost healed but still on restriction from work (because he works at a potentially dangerous job) until the 26th because he can't risk getting injured.  So basically he's at the annoying stage where he feels well enough to resume normal life but can't which means he just might be driving me a tad bit crazy!  Also, Booker T experienced his first thunderstorm of the season Thursday night which meant we were up with him in the middle of the night for three hours.  I guess I didn't get him enough Benadryl and also we need to get him some more sedatives from the vet.  But he is fine now so don't worry.

Movie/TV wise things haven't been that great this week.  Not many movies left to watch after we went on a binge last week.  We did watch "The Green Book" which I enjoyed and a Van Damme movie called "We Die Young" which was just okay in my book.  I did get a ton of reading done though which I am super pleased about.  This weekend I need to knock as much of these two out of the way as I can as I am in the early stages of both.

I did get a few review copies from Netgalley (what else is new huh?).  Seems I'm determined to make myself like Riley Sager since I have a copy of the newest "Lock Every Door." I couldn't resist the car on the cover of "Mahoney's Camaro."  It must be the drag racer in my blood inherited from my dad.  And finally, "Bad Axe County" sounded too good to resist.

And finally I want to announce that Jan over at Notes From a Readerholic won the giveaway in the They Call It Puppy Love Challenge.  Congrats Jan and thanks to all who participated!

  1. Aw, poor doggy. Our dog used to be scared of thunder, but not anymore. I guess he finally got used to it.

Bad Axe County does sound really good!

    1. Booker has gotten more used to it but it still scares him. When he was a pup, lightening struck a pole near our house and it was LOUD. We joke and say it was the night The Farm fell because it was the same night Herschel's farm was overrun by zombies on The Walking Dead. Also, little known blog trivia. Booker T's Farm is a nod to Herschel's farm. We actually live in town :)

  2. Poor Booker T! I have sympathy for him because I'm very nervous of storms too. Thankfully we don't get many and they rarely last long enough to disrupt my sleep! I'm glad Mr Barb is feeling better now. Enjoy your reading this week!

    1. They scare me too but I've had to try to keep it under wraps because I've noticed when I get scared, he feeds off it and it makes him worse and then Cass joins in.

  3. My boy Otis hates thunder and hides under the bed, so I can't comfort him☹ While Ginger could care less! Lol. Here's hoping it's a mild storm season.

  4. My dog is 14 now and his hearing has virtually gone. It's not great news and we have to be careful with him, can't let him off lead for example because he just wouldn't hear us shouting him to come back! But, on the plus side, he can't hear fireworks or thunder anymore.
    Happy reading new week.

    1. Well, there's one good effect about pups getting older huh? It's great he's 14. Boxers have shorter life spans so I always get anxious as they get older.

  5. I hope the Riley Sager goes well!! Poor Booker T. I had a dog who hated storms. It's heartbreaking. It's good you can get meds for him. I read a couple of dog books last month and the dogs kept getting killed! That is *not* puppy love. :/

    1. Yea, I hate drugging him but when I see a bad one on the radar, it really is the best thing for him. Oh no, dog deaths. How horrible!

  6. Congratulations to Jan! 🎊

Oh no, I missed about your hubby, but I'm glad to hear he's doing well; and that you are better, too. 👍✨

    Poor Booker T. 😞

Enjoy your books. I'll be looking for your Prince interview review. 📚

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  7. I'm just relieved my dogs are pretty inured to thunderstorms, firecrackers and loud noises. Hope you got some rest after that night!

  10. I am glad to hear that everyone is on the mend. I am glad that Mr. Barb is being careful but I can imagine how hard it is to follow the guidelines. I will be curious to see what you think of the new Riley Sager book. I gave up on the author after that terrible first book but everyone else seems to love his work. Have a great week!

    1. Between Riley Sager and CJ Tudor, which everyone seems to love, I've just not been that lucky. I did give Shari Lapena another chance last month and it worked out fine so here's hoping.

  11. Storms are scary for puppies...and their people, too.

Enjoy your week and your books. I also watched Green Book, and was glued to the screen.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
