So I'm back with another round of Friday Face Off, created by Books by Proxy. This week's topic is children.
“There are children here somewhere. I can smell them.” A cover featuring children
1. Penguin movie tie-in (1999)
2. Scribner (2018)
3. Penguin Readers (2018)
4. Greek edition (2001)
5. Turkish 2dition (1988)
5. Italian edition (2018)
This week I'm sharing Stephen King's "The Body." It was originally a short story in "Different Seasons" but after the release of the movie adaptation, "Stand By Me" they began releasing it more and more on its own.
I think my favorite is #2. I love the contrast of the black against the teal. I do like the font on #6 because it's giving me the "Stranger Things" vibe but it is pretty disturbing, which isn't bad. It bothers me that #5 has a doll head on the cover. Ummmm, it was a real person right? It's been a while since I read it or saw the movie but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a doll.
So which is your favorite???
I loved this book and the film! Ooh Kiefer Sutherland was so gorgeous in it! I quite like the Italian edition but the one you picked is decent too.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Keifer Sutherland, no matter what he's in. Although as he gets older, he looks more and more like his father.
DeleteYeah, #2 is the best of the bunch.
ReplyDeleteI love the color too which always helps.
DeleteOoh I like that cover for The Body, with the kids running across the bridge!
ReplyDeleteI really like some the cover redos on older King books that have come out recently.
Delete#2 is cool, but I think I like #6 the best! I do like those Stranger Things vibes!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to see #6 in person but it does look cool.
DeleteMy pick for favorite is number two as well! I agree with you on the color, the teal background really makes it stand out.

Teal and black is one of my favorite color combos.
DeleteI think that I am liking the Italian version best. It does have a Stranger Things look to it doesn't it? I have seen the movie hundreds of times - maybe I should read the story too :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been YEARS since I've seen the movie or read the book but it's such a classic movie..."Wanna see a dead body?"
DeleteI have never heard of this one! The only cover I like is the top middle. 😅
ReplyDeleteYou've probably heard of "Stand by Me" which was what they called the movie.
DeleteGreat choice - and I hadn't realised this had a different title - or more to the point the film had a different title than the book. I do love the film but I haven't read the book so it would be interesting to see how they compare.
ReplyDeleteI love your cover choice. Such an iconic scene and I like the use of colour.
Lynn :D
It would be a quick read because it was really just a novella - before novellas became popular.
DeleteI agree, #2 is my fave as well!
ReplyDeletewow I had never heard of this book! SMH! My fav is number 2 as well! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was initially in one of King's short story collections and is the story "Stand by Me" was based on. I'm sure you were aware of it and didn't even realize it.
DeleteYeah I think the one you picked is my favorite. They're all a spot creepy. lol
