So it's been quite a while but today I'm once again participating in Friday Face-Off, which originated over at by Books by Proxy. Probably assisted by the fact that it was an easy topic.
HALLOWEEN - A SCARY COVER
So honestly, I've never read this book but I do own a cover. But it is by one of my favorite authors. And technically it DOES feature a dog.
1. 2003 German
2. 2011 English (Hodder)
3. 2016 Portuguese
4. 1993 Belgian
5. 2000 Spanish
6. 2011 Spanish
7. 2016 Enlish (audiobook)
8. 2016 German
9. 2007 (Hodder paperback)
So I knew there would be no shortage of covers and this is just a hint. I actually like quite a few. #1 strikes me more as a cover for a mystery book. #8 freaks me out because it's a cartoon dog with a real mouth and on #9, why is Cujo's tongue yellow?
I think my favorite just adds to my suspicions that in my past life I was a Portuguese librarian. No matter who does these posts, about 90% of the time my favorite is the Portuguese edition. So what's your favorite????
Nice pick! I like the 2000 Spanish. Just something about that toothy snout emerging from the darkness.

Yea that version is probably the most realistic looking one.
DeleteI haven't read the book either but remember watching the movie with my family when I was young. Scarred me for life! This is why i was terrified of dogs until I was in my 30s!!!
ReplyDeleteHow horrible. Glad you got over your fear. Look how much you've helped dogs now!
DeleteI like the Portuguese one, too, I think that one and and the 2000 Spanish one are tied for scariest for me!
ReplyDeleteYes, the Spanish one is pretty great. And I always like black and red on covers.
DeleteI think 2 and 5 are the scariest, but #1 is weird for me because it looks like a happy dog story, lol. I read this so long ago I don't remember much about it! And I know what you mean, I often love Portuguese covers for some reason😁
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I think all #1 needs is a bowtie and a cigar. He doesn't look scary at all.
DeleteWe must have been fellow librarians, Barb - because I also love that Portuguese cover, too:)). Great choice for this week's FF. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope you had an awesome one as well!
Deletenow that's a lot of covers. 2 5 and 6 are awesome and the portuguese one jumps off the page with that red cover

Red always grabs my attention.
DeleteThe Spanish cover wins my vote! I read the book and watched the movie. Both of them were harrowing and sad and hard to swallow. That's King for ya!
ReplyDeleteSeems like the Spanish one is quite popular today.
DeleteWho knew there were so many covers for Cujo? I think #2 and #5 are the scariest and my two favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteThere were so many more but I got tired of posting. I kind of went through and picked my faves.
DeleteI've noticed that I quite frequently like the Portuguese covers and also the French ones. This week - No.5 and No9 (in spite of the yellow tongue) for different reasons. No.5 is just a very scary dog! No.9 feels like a typical King cover.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Yea #9 is part of a whole Hodder series I've seen on Booktube. I think the covers are all kind of abstract. But a yellow tongue!
DeleteCujo isn't one of my favourite Stephen King books. It sort of dragged in places for me! I like the Spanish and German covers best!
ReplyDeleteI've not read it but I've heard it is definitely one of his slower works.
DeleteOh, gosh... I don't like any of them. 😂
ReplyDeleteI think it's probably the subject matter right? It's probably also what keeps me from reading it.
DeleteI do like the Portuguese cover! The German one is good too. Some of these are kind of weird though.
ReplyDeleteYes, some are definitely weird.
Delete#3 is definitely my favorite! You're totally right about #1 looking like a mystery novel!
ReplyDeleteI know...all he needs is a pipe in his mouth.
