What's Happening (11-16-19)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

MAN, WHAT A WEEK!  And it pretty much boils down to phone issues.  We keep a landline for two reasons...we've had the same number for over 25 years and everyone we want to know it knows it and secondly, my Gpa can hear better when I use a landline vs. a cell phone.  It was out on the 7th for some reason.  Submitted a ticket. They were coming Tuesday and we to call me when they were en route (they gave me an 8 hour window) so I could meet them there.  I'm not wasting my vacation to sit around and wait for them!  So Tuesday I get home to a note saying, it was fixed.  Nope, it wasn't.  So I called again.  Nope, they didn't follow directions but I had to wait 2 more days for another appointment - and another 8 hour window.  The icing on the cake was when I was filing a complaint and a woman told me they didn't make it out Tuesday because there were busy.  Ummmm, that was a lie.  That ticked me off.  And every time I was on hold for a supervisor, I got "accidentally" disconnected.  It's finally fixed but I'm surprised my head didn't pop off I was so angry.

Everything else is fine but PUPPY ALERT.  I think Mr. Barb has finally decided he's ready to add to the family.  I've left it up to him since T's death was so hard on both of us, but EXTREMELY hard on him.  So we've been looking.  It will happen in time but don't be surprised if you see a new addition to Booker T's Farm in the next few months.

We watched "47 Feet Down Uncaged" this week and it wasn't bad.  I like shark movies and this one had blind cave sharks and dumb teenagers.  It was entertaining at least. I also have  A LOT of reading to get done before the month is out.  At least next week starts my vacation!

I added a few books this week too.  I love Silvia Moreno-Garcia and I hope I feel the same way after reading Untamed Shores.  Bottle Toss sounds like a cool YA horror and I couldn't resist The Last Human.

So how was your week?  Anything new and exciting?

ADDITION:  I almost forgot.  Cass almost caught a cat. The neighbor have a cat named Noel they let run around outside.  They say she won't stay inside but it's debatable if they are just irresponsible.  Their Jack Russell has escaped into our backyard twice in the past week and then can't find his way out.  Anyway, I let Cass out and Noel was hiding under the picnic table.  Cass saw her and she took off. I was yelling for him to stop but they made two laps around the yard and Noel faceplanted into the side of a back building trying to jump on the roof.  I didn't want her to get hurt (and she was ok) but she also still has her claws and I don't want Cass to lose an eye!  The neighbor says "Don't worry - she's not afraid of dogs."  Doesn't mean Cass is used to cats!  Neighbors!!!!

  1. These companies are quick enough to take your money but when it comes to repairs they couldn't care less!

Ooh how exciting that there could be the patter of extra paws at the Farm! I'm so keen to see any new arrival! Just assure Cass that I love him to bits and new puppy won't change that. Well done for nearly catching a cat Cass! Bloody things are a menace!!! I couldn't stop laughing at the faceplanting!!!

    1. I will pass on the message to Cass. Yes, I want him to know that any puppy will be his little brother but won't change his position at all.

  2. I have an issue with neighbors who let their cats roam free... probably because when I was a kid, my dog ended up with a cat claw stuck in his nose. And it wasn't because we let him out of our yard!

    1. Poor thing. When Cass was a pup that happened as well.

  3. Oooh! I would love to see photos if you guys gain a new addition to the crew! <3 I'm still pestering my husband about adding to our family. :)

  4. LOL when an actual phone company can't even keep you connected to their customer service long enough to fix an issue, that's not a good sign at all! And wow, so exciting that you guys might be getting another puppy!

    1. You know, I said the exact same thing to several different employees.

  5. UGH I can't believe they can't narrow it down to 4 hours at least. That's just lazy scheduling. I realize things might take longer and that's different but yes, I've experienced the lying too. On the phone you're anonymous so they aren't worried about lying, being rude, etc. Yay for a new puppy? We took our time, about 9 months after Gina to get Lulu. The timing wasn't perfect but almost. Most important, she is the right one. And not a puppy about 1.5 years old. My neighbors cats used to come and sit on my doorstep and poop in my flowerbeds. Now I only have dog neighbors - yay. I'm allergic to cats. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your vacation!

    1. We have dogs and cat neighbors. I like them all - but stay in your own yard. I am so glad the phone fiasco is over. It was way too stressful.

  7. We keep a landline, too. I feel better about having it while the kids are young. PUPPY. Good luck on your puppy search. I know the right puppy will find you!!

    1. In our area, you can't always count on cell service so we've never considered getting rid of it.

  8. *cringes* Those waiting times sound so painfully stupidly familiar. We go through the same things here. And, oh my gosh, I'm so glad Cass wasn't hurt any more by the cat! Not to mention: new puppy! Good luck!

    1. Thanks. We're making sure it's the right time and the right fit. It will probably be after the holidays because I've done winter pups and 3am bathroom breaks in a foot of snow are no fun.

  9. Oooooo so exciting! A new puppy! Are you going to go through a rescue?

  10. That whole phone incident would have made me head pop off. Absolutely without doubt. My other half has to deal with those things because I just become a mess.
My dog has never liked cats, well, he's a terrier and they basically chase anything that runs, and if it runs away then so much more fun. But it's always a worry, my next door neighbour had three cats and I was always worried in case anything happened.
These days though, he's too old to bother and being mostly deaf he wouldn't hear a cat if it was sat next to him purring with delight.

    1. I think my head severed a tad during the whole ordeal. I have a minor BP issue and a small heart defect and I actually can tell it took a toll on me physically. I love terriers and have considered adopting them in the past.

  11. We got rid of our home phone years ago. I just couldn't deal with the phone company anymore. Oh, puppy! Do you think Cass will like having a puppy around? It is such a big change. I hate it when neighbors let cats run outside. I also hate the whole...don't worry thing about their pets. We tend to encounter a lot of unleashed dogs on our walks that come rushing up to us but "don't worry they are friendly" Well, my Cookie wasn't and it was a problem several times. Have a great week!

    1. I do think Cass will be excited because he loves seeing other dos when we are out. However, he's also a mommy's boy so I worry about him getting a tad jealous. That's why we are really only considering pups as much as I'd like to rescue an adult dog. I think he'll take better to a puppy.

  12. Don't you just love those eight hour windows? Ugh. Happy to hear your phone is fixed though! πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

I am a huge supporter of keeping cat's inside 24/7. They are huge devastators of bird populations. Plus, I saw a neighbor of ours cat get taken by an owl. I don't think people realize that happens. 😯It

I am so happy to hear Cass will be a big brother soon! 🐾✨

I hope you are having a great week. 🌞

    1. Yes, I really do worry about that cat. They say she won't stay inside and I have to bite my tongue not to say it sounds like their problem, not the cat's.
