What's Happening (12-28-19)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

So I've been a tad missing this week and will definitely blame the holidays - and Apollo.  I will be getting caught up on comments and replies hopefully early next week.  Sorry for the unannounced break.

So I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful time with family and friends.  Our Christmas was pretty low-key and very nice.  Mr. Barb cooked and we stayed home.  We both received lots of great gifts and the pups got lots of toys and snacks.  I will be posting a complete haul and hopefully pictures on next week's post.

Speaking of, there will also be lots of Apollo.  I've managed to post a few on Instagram but I'll be honest, he's kind of wearing us out.  I forgot how exhausting puppies can be.  However, he is doing great, Cass is getting used to him and sort of likes him (I know it just takes time and he doesn't HATE him) and growing already.

I have been getting some reading done and still have a few reviews to post to be caught up.  I'm also looking forward to all of the new books that the new year's reading will bring!  I also wanted to add a few comments from Cass and figure he will continue contributing to the weekend post for the next few weeks.  So on to Cass!

CRAZY S**T MY BROTHER DOES:

1.  Apollo touches me!  Seriously, I'm okay being near him, and am always making sure I know where he is at all times, but right now I draw the line at touching me.  I am not ready to cuddle yet.

2.  Anything that looks like a dog - a yard statue, a stuffed animal, the bulldog statue in our home - he thinks is a real dog and he's a mixture of afraid and unsure of it.  He barks, sneaks up, approaches and hides.  It's almost funny and who know a Scooby Doo stuffed animal could be so terrifying.

3.  He bites everything and all the time.  Mom was napping and he decided to take a bite out of her neck.  Now while it may be cool that he knows about Vlad the Impaler already, he needs to realize that he is NOT Dracula.  Although with his ears flopped back he does resemble Gary Oldman in the Dracula remake with Keanu Reeves.

So tune in next week because I'm sure I'll have more crazy s**t to report.

  1. Ha ha. After living in a dog show family I need no reminders about puppies! I promised myself no puppies ever again, only adult dogs. 😂 If I want puppy therapy I go to one of the shelters and pet puppies. Then I get to go home. Sort of like a grandparent and grandchildren. 😆

Apollo is super cute. I'll have to hop over to IG to see what I have missed. 🐾✨

Have a wonderful new week and a happy New Year. 🎉

    1. If we were getting a dog and didn't have Cass, we definitely would have adopted an adult from the shelter. Since Cass has had territorial issues in the past, even though he's now "fixed" which has helped, our vet stated a puppy would be the way to go. I need to get more photos of him posted soon.

    1. Hope you had great travel weather at least. I ran food down to my Grandpa Christmas afternoon but it was only 1/2 hour each way so no biggie. Yep, he bites everything.

  3. Aw, glad to see the pups are settling in to a life together. I know Cass will be a great big brother once he gets used to having the puppy around. And yes, they can be exhausting! One of my neighbors got a new puppy last year and he was sooooo cute and fun to play with...but I definitely don't envy my neighbors having to wake up every few hours to let him out, and the chewing!

    1. Yea, right now I've been getting up between 3am and 4am each night/morning and letting him out. It helps that it's been fairly warm which is changing this week. I dread going back to work and we are trying to crate train him some this week.

  4. I'm glad that Apollo is settling in and that Cass is getting used to him. Maybe you should've called him Vlad! Oh I did laugh at that story from Cass!

    1. I wanted to name him Stoker but let Mr. Barb pick since he lost Booker T. He makes an awesome Vlad though.

    1. When I was younger we used to do everything on Christmas Eve. I liked it but it was because I was impatient.

  6. Love Cass's comments! Yeah, puppies are sort of like babies. You lose a lot of sleep and are exhausted all the time. Luckily that phase doesn't last long 😁

    1. Yep and I try to keep reminding myself it doesn't last long and eventually we'll miss it.

  10. Apollo sounds like a rambunctious young pup. Hang in there Cass, and Barb. I hope he didn't draw too much blood. LOL Can't wait for photos!

    1. He actually didn't draw any blood on the neck. I can't say the same about my arms and fingers :)

  11. Haha yes we did NOT want a puppy. We deliberately chose a 1.5 yo when we went to rescue. But it is fun to hear all about Apollo and Cass. Enjoy your new reads and have a very Happy New Year.

    1. If we didn't have a dog already, we would have definitely looked into adopting a pup. Now I know why pups go so well with children - they need children to wear them out.
