Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this funny, action-packed sequel about a coven of witchy babysitters who realize their calling to protect the innocent and save the world from an onslaught of evil.
Esme Pearl's life used to be all about bumming rides and babysitting. Sure, it wasn't glamorous, but it was predictable. All that changed when Cassandra Heaven came to town, and they discovered their complicated, and connected, legacy: Esme and Cassandra are Sitters, supernaturally-gifted teens armed with an ever-changing grimoire of Sitter witchcraft to help them protect the innocent and keep evil demons at bay. You know, the typical teenage stuff.
But just as Esme is starting to adjust to--and maybe even like--her new normal, life lobs another glitter bomb her way. The Synod--the Sitterhood's governing circle--has called a Summit, a once-in-a-generation gathering that promises training, education, and whole lot of ice-breakers.
Esme should be excited--a Summit might mean she can finally get the answers she desperately wants--but she can't shake a building sense of panic. Especially since Cassandra's not acting like herself; Esme's dad is MIA; Pig is out of dog food; Janis is scared to be alone; and there's a guy who seems too good to be true, again. Worst of all, it soon becomes clear, there's no one watching the kids. It's obvious the Summit is a haute mess, but will it be a deadly one, too?
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I had tons of fun with the first book in this series and can't wait to see what happens next with this group of witchy teens. I also think this cover coordinates well with the first one.
CASSIUS'S PICK
FROM GOODREADS: An irresistible chapter book series from the New York Times bestselling author of A Dog's Purpose Puppy Tales featuring Lily, a rescue dog who rescues other animals!
Lily lives with her girl, Maggie Rose. Once a stray, Lily was rescued by the kind people at the animal shelter run by Maggie Rose’s mom. Now she has a very important purpose: to rescue other animals in trouble.
On a camping trip with Maggie Rose’s dad, Lily gets sprayed by a skunk. But the skunk has no stink! That means it can’t defend itself against big animals. Can Lily find a way to help? It’s
Lily to the rescue!
WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT: Mom bought the first two of these children's books to read to me and Apollo for the Dog Days of Summer Challenge hosted by La La in the Library this month. I'm sure after we read those, I'll be anxious to see what Lilly is up to next. Mom has also warned me about skunks but I've never met one. It looks kind of cute. MAYBE I can convince Apollo to find one!
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
Wow, I did not know there was another W. Bruce Cameron dog book coming out! Didn't even know there is a children's series.

He has so much on the go it's hard to keep up!
DeleteFor Better or Cursed sounds like it's going to be a fun read!
ReplyDeleteThe first one was a blast!
DeleteI didn't even know The Babysitters Coven had a sequel. I need to read the first book. And stay away from skunks, Cassius!
ReplyDeleteI knew one was coming out but I had no idea it was so close. Of course I also can't believe we're close to September!
DeleteI enjoyed the first babysitter's coven book, too! It was fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. So excited to see what this one brings.
DeleteLol... I LOVE the idea of a Babysitting Coven! And that blurb is adorable. Thank you for sharing this one, Barb - I shall be looking out for it:)
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome and do go back and read the first one too. So much fun!
DeleteHope you will enjoy your picks. Happy reading and stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteYou too my friend!
DeleteI wouldn't want to get that close to the skunk...keep your distance Cass!
ReplyDeleteSo far the boys have all managed to avoid skunks over the years. I hope my luck holds!
DeleteFor Better or Cursed does sound like quite a fun read. I hope that you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lori!
DeleteCute dog. It makes me nervous to see a skunk so close to it, though! Skunk smell is not easy to get out of a dog. I hope you enjoy these books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I've heard. I think they make a special shampoo for it but I'm sure it's not that effective. I've always heard use tomato juice.
DeleteThese look fun. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg.
DeleteThey look good. I love both covers. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI need to read the Babysitter's Coven first book still! And the cover of the 2nd book makes me think of how easily I would then be having to clean up two stinky dogs. LOL! Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post on Lisa Loves Literature earlier!
ReplyDeleteYep that cover would never work in real life!
DeleteI read the first Babysitters Coven book. I didn't love it, but I liked it enough to read book two. I like you're other pick too. :)
ReplyDeleteTressa @ Wishful Endings
I really liked the first one and hope the sequel is as good.
DeleteFor Better or Cursed sounds good and I don't know why but the whole idea of the coven, etc, kind of put me in mind of Bewitched.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I used to love Bewitched as a child. No real surprise there. I always wanted to be Tabitha.
DeleteThe babysitting coven sounds interesting. I'll have to look into that series. Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoy all of your picks!
ReplyDeleteIt's super cute. I grabbed the first one from my library Overdrive so maybe you can snag it there!
Delete*facepalm* There's another babysitter's Coven book coming out? I *need* to read the first one asap! TY for the reminder!!!
ReplyDeleteSeem's we're always behind right?
DeleteI thought The Babysitters Coven was a standalone. How exciting. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI love the name Lily for a dog. Maybe someday you'll have a girlfriend named Lily, Cass! 💜
My #DDOS post should be up tonight or tomorrow. I had a bit of a bumpy road last week. 😛
The name Lily is awesome. But Cass prefers HUMAN girlfriends and he is super smitten with EMMA.
DeleteI loved hearing about Emma.😀
DeleteThanks so much Sherry.
