Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
FROM GOODREADS: Instagram-famous triplets Cecily, Amber, and Rudy—the children of home renovation superstars—are ready for a perfect summer. They’ve just moved into the site of their parents’ latest renovation project when they begin to receive chilling messages from someone called The Follower. It soon becomes clear that this anonymous threat is more than a simple Internet troll, and he can’t wait to shatter the Cole family’s perfect veneer and take back what’s his. The Follower examines the implications of what it is to be watched in the era of social media fame—as well as the lies we tell and the lengths we’ll go to uphold a perfect image, when our lives depend on it.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I'm reading some great thrillers this year and I hope that continues into 2021. I really like when social media plays into books so we'll see how the author addresses it in this one.
CASSIUS'S PICK:
FROM GOODREADS: It all started with a bet thrown down by my husband, Jimmy. If I ran thirteen miles, I could bring home our first family dog—any kind of dog I wanted. The perfect dog.
Like every other decision in my life, this required hours of research and planning, complete with a last-minute flight to Chicago in a blizzard. Countless emails to various breeders across the country eventually led me to Brody, a “show-quality” wire-haired fox terrier puppy with champion lineage. But my plans changed as Brody’s bad behavior and multitudinous medical mishaps took us for a wild ride.
BrodyMonster is a candid and heartwarming story that you’ll find at the crossroads of Marley and Me and The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k. How living with a “terrible” terrier taught me to embrace life’s imperfections.
WHY CASSIUS CAN'T WAIT: I can't wait to read all about this terrible terrier. I bet he has NOTHING on Apollo!
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
I just went and added The Follower to my Goodreads watchlist. That premise sounds awesome!

I hope it's as good as it sounds.
DeleteThe Follower sounds so cool! I love books that explore social media.
ReplyDeleteI know Angela. I'm always drawn to those kind of books too!
DeleteThese both sound good! I'm really curious about The Follower and the idea of kids of famous home improvement stars!
ReplyDeleteI know. Kind of random but still really intriguing!
Deletecertainly sounds like she got way more than she bargained for
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Now that's an understatement!
DeleteCassius has a great pick Barb! It sounds like a fun book and I'm interested in whether Cassius thinks Apollo is more terrible than Brody! The Follower sounds a little too scary for me! Though I do like the social media aspect of it. Good picks, Barb.
ReplyDeleteApollo is mellowing - some. Cassius likes him unless he's eating a treat and then he wants him no where near him. We have to keep an eye on his food aggression. Although he's not really food aggressive, just treat aggressive.
DeleteLulu is a wire fox terrier mix but she is such a good girl.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
Lulu is the cutest thing too!
DeleteDon´t know which one to pick *smile* Both sound intriguing. I hope you will enjoy them. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks and sorry for such a late reply back. I'm so far behind.
DeleteThis sounds like a really creepy thriller, Barb - and I laughed when I read about Cassius's pick this week. The description reminds me of my mother's naughty little poodle, Darcy...
ReplyDeleteWe had a poodle growing up. He was an odd dog. I liked him but man, he barked ALL THE TIME.
DeleteThe Follower sounds SO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteI love it too when social media plays a role in a good thriller. This sounds quite good.
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg and sorry I've been a tad MIA lately. Trying to catch up!
DeleteApollo is of course beyond compare :) The Follower is creeping me the hell out, but like you mentioned, I like that it involves social media in its plot. I'll definitely be looking out for your review.
ReplyDeleteI hope I can get my hands on an arc.
DeleteThe Follower sounds like such a great thriller! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome Ashley!
DeleteOh, The Follower sounds very creepy. Hope both of these end up being good reads!
ReplyDeleteThe Follower sounds really good! The second I love the cover! Great picks! Thanks for stopping by my Wednesday post at Lisa Loves Literature earlier this week.
ReplyDeleteI was able to get an arc of the dog one so I'm really thrilled!
DeleteNever mind Cass, as he gets older he should calm down a bit-we hope!
ReplyDeleteCass says he's sure you're right Auntie Chuckles.
DeleteI love it when social media plays a role in the story too so The Follower sounds like one I'll enjoy. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI love books with social media in them as well!
DeleteI love the sound of the Follower and the dog cover is great - but then I'm partial to fox terriers (my dog Jack aka Jacky Paws was a fox terrier).
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I love the name Jacky Paws!
DeleteI had a Skye terrier for a while, and yes, terriers are a handful! Ha ha. 😁
ReplyDeleteI've always heard they can be but they are so darn cute!
