Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week I am featuring two pre-orders (one physical and one for my Kindle). I rarely pre-order so these are pretty special circumstances.
FROM GOODREADS: At the one-year anniversary of his death, legendary musician Prince's first wife shares a uniquely intimate, candid, and revelatory look inside the personal and professional life of one of the world's most beloved icons.
In The Most Beautiful, a title inspired by the hit song Prince wrote about their legendary love story, Mayte Garcia for the first time shares the deeply personal story of their relationship and offers a singular perspective on the music icon and their world together: from their unconventional meeting backstage at a concert (and the long-distance romance that followed), to their fairy-tale wedding (and their groundbreaking artistic partnership), to the devastating losses that ultimately dissolved their romantic relationship for good. Throughout it all, they shared a bond more intimate than any other in Prince's life. No one else can tell this story or can provide a deeper, more nuanced portrait of Prince--both the famously private man and the pioneering, beloved artist--than Mayte, his partner during some of the most pivotal personal and professional years of his career. The Most Beautiful is a book that will be returned to for decades, as Prince's music lives on with generations to come.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: First of all, it's Prince and I must add this physical copy to my growing collection. Secondly, I always thought this was one of the most beautiful (not intended) relationships and now I'm a tad worried that Mayte is coming out with this book on the anniversary of his death. He would have never allowed it to be released if he were alive so I'm either going to love it, or hate it AND her for capitalizing in such a tragedy.
FROM GOODREADS: Pit Bulls are Sweet . . . and that's no mystery!
Shifter Lily Mason and her pit bull Smooshie are once again on the trail of a murderer and this time close to home!
The Money Pit, Book 2 of the Barkside of the Moon Mysteries from USA Today bestselling paranormal cozy mystery author Renee George, is a gripping murder mystery that keeps you guessing from beginning to end!Cougar-shifter Lily Mason is trying hard to live as a human in Moonrise, Missouri. But renting a garage apartment from Parker Knowles, her boss at the Pit Bull Rescue Shelter, is making it difficult to keep her secret, especially with the upcoming full moon just weeks away. Desperate to get into her own place, Lily immediately makes an offer on a “fixer-upper” with a checkered past and begins work on getting the place ready for her and her dog Smooshie.
Smooshie proves primed for demolition when she scratches a hole in a wall and yanks out a human bone. The investigation brings Lily unwanted attention from the local police chief who has an ax to grind and a murderer desperate to keep the past in the past.
With the full moon just around the corner, the police breathing down her neck, and a murderer on her heels, Lily needs Smooshie and Parker more than ever if she wants to keep her secret and prevent another killing!
This paranormal cozy mystery contains cougar-shifters, shifters, lovable pit bulls, and supernatural beings.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I read "Pit Perfect" at the end of last year and I can't wait for more Smooshy in my life. I'm sure this will be as cute of a read as the last!
So what can't you wait for this week???
I haven't hear of the Pit books but I'm glad you enjoyed it last year and hope this one is just as cute! My WoW
ReplyDeleteI have great hopes for it and am just glad it's coming out so soon after the last one.
DeleteSmooshie just sounds so cute and I love the book covers! I don't read this genre but I am slightly tempted by this.
ReplyDeleteYes, give Smooshie a chance!
DeleteI cannot believe it's been a year since Prince passed! Woah. Books like this can be a perfect tribute or suck majorly, so I am hoping for the first. FRingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI'm know, I'm either gonna love or hate this book. I doubt there will be any in between.
DeleteNever was a Prince fan but I know you will enjoy that one. :) I have the first Barkside of the Moon book on my wishlist cause I know you liked it so I hope you like book two! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope book 2 is as good as well.
DeleteI'll be curious to hear how you like (or don't like!) the Prince book. Very interesting timing indeed:-)
ReplyDeleteYea, there has been a ton of controversy with the fans. She wanted to write one while he was alive and he would never allow it. I just hope it isn't trash. It won't take much for her to fall from my graces with this book.
DeleteOh wow, that sounds like a very interesting book to read. I'll have to put it on my TBR list. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Can't Wait Wednesday pick
Thanks for visiting Lisa!
DeleteI didn't know about this book about Prince!! I was not a big fan so I didn't know there was a famous love story there. I can tell you are a big fan so I hope you enjoy it Barb :)
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan and I hope this book doesn't smash my positive feelings about his ex wife. I don't think she ever got over him and the loss of their child, but then again, the timing of the release makes me think she might be smelling dollar signs. I don't know - #confused!
DeleteThe Most Beautiful looks so interesting, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that :) Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for visiting my WoW earlier :)
I just wish it was already released. I'm getting tired of waiting!
DeleteYou do make a point about her possibly publishing only to capitalize on his death... it's difficult to determine either way but will still be worth checking out since you're such a fan.
ReplyDeleteYea, that was kind of my thoughts. I knew I would want to read it for myself and see which is why I preordered it.
DeletePrince was such an intriguing person/artist. I'm definitely intrigued by his relationships. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI know. I know not everyone cared for him but many can't deny his talent.
DeleteOh, it'll be interesting to see what you and Prince's other big fans think of that book! Could be great... or like you said, could seem like "cashing in." Hope not - that would be sad!
ReplyDeleteIt would be sad...and maddening!
Delete"At the one-year anniversary of his death, legendary musician Prince's first wife shares..." It's hard to believe it's been one year already. I'm always skeptical of the intentions behind books like these, but I hope it ends up respectful of his memory.

I know. I saw a special on him the other day and I told Mr. Barb it seems just like yesterday.
DeleteInteresting picks, particularly the first one. I hope they both end up being really good!
ReplyDeleteTressa @ Wishful Endings
Thanks Tressa!
DeletePrince's love story with Mayte is so heartbreaking. I'll wait to read a few reviews before I check it our (or not).
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope to definitely read this one when it arrives so you won't have too long of wait to see what I think. We'll see...
DeleteI'm very much interested in "The Most Beautiful"!! What a lovely cover, too! It certainly looks like Prince and Mayte had a wonderful relationship, and it's so sad that it ended.... It seems to me that Mayte never got over Prince, even though they divorced. Just from looking at the cover, I think this is a good assumption to make. I'm reminded of Cher. Although she and Sonny divorced, I know she never stopped loving him....
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when Prince died.... I used to listen to his music A LOT in the '80s. So I think this book is most likely a fitting tribute to him. I've already added it to my Goodreads shelves! Thanks for featuring it!! <3 :)
Also, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my own CWW post!! Hope you're having a GREAT day!! I also hope that the boys are behaving and getting along! And I hope "T" is fully recovered by now!! HUGS!!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
I think the loss of their child at 7 days is something that drove a barrier between them neither could overcome. I do believe she has always loved him so it will be an interesting read for sure.
DeleteBooker T is doing better and we've been watching them when they eat (separating them) and not leaving anything laying around. Guess time will tell.
The Money Pit looks like fun. The book about Prince scares me. I don't think every story needs to be published. I will be curious about what you think of it.
