Stacking the Shelves (106)

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.

So no long introduction or any excuses...JUST BOOKS!

I grabbed a few freebies and deals from Amazon.  Not to mention I was enabled by some fellow bloggers. I couldn't resist grabbing "Emily" when I saw it offered for free.  "Turner Street" was a recommendation from Michelle@Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life (and check out her autism appreciated inspired header).  I grabbed "Crimes Against a Book Club" as my Amazon Prime First Read pick this month and "Bone Song" was on sale and I checked it out from the library YEARS ago and never read it so I finally grabbed it on the cheap.

Of course I also have a few ARCs to share this week.  "Just Add Water" is the new book coming out by Hunter Shea and I really enjoyed "The Jersey Devil," plus it was the first buddy read for Stormi and myself so I couldn't help but request it. You might recall I featured "The Unquiet Grave" a few weeks ago on a Can't Wait Wednesday feature so I was thrilled to finally receive my approval.  And "Death by Vanilla Latte" and "Bearly Departed" are new cozy mystery books being released and I totally blame Stormi for my latest cozy mystery phase #Stormimademedoit.

I made another trip to my local libraries and came away with a few - SHOCKER!  What's even worse is I have 2 more on hold and just received notice Friday they are ready to be picked up anytime this coming week.  I know I've featured "Rabbit Cake" on the blog before and I've seen good reviews for "The Apartment."  "Animal Envy" was one of the books they showcase on an end cap to catch you attention - hey, I'm proof that tactic works and I can't wait to dive into the graphic novel "Wythces."

And finally, we ran to the mall Sunday because Mr. Barb had to go to the local sporting good store.  I took the chance to run into Books-a-Million because I rarely visit an actual physical book store.  Of course I bought some new things.  "Gizelle's Bucket List" is a beautiful book and a wonderful addition to my dog book collection (just need to read it) and the cover of "God Save the Queen" totally caught my eye.  My pre-order of "The Most Beautiful" came from Amazon on Tuesday (actual release day I might add) and I'm already more than half through it.  And finally, I picked up "The Beast is an Animal" at Walmart because sometimes visiting the book and magazine section is the only thing that makes Walmart bearable.

So, there you have it. Have you read any of these and what did you add to your shelves this week???

  2. Nice big haul this week Barb! I had my eye on Just Add Water, having first tried the author recently and liking his Bigfoot book! (Swamp Monster Massacre)That poor bear on the cover needs medical help! That makes me sad! I tried God save the Queen but it wasn't really to my taste so I hope you have a better time with it. Hope you all have a good weekend!

  14. Nothing wrong with stocking up on freebies and on-sale novels! I can never resist the freebies especially - Sourcebooks Casablanca offers freebies every now and then and I am always downloading them, even if I'd not heard of the books before. o_o The only one here that I've read is The Beast is an Animal! I liked it a lot. :D I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fantastic week, Barb. =)

  15. I just grabbed Emily (still free!) thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to a real bookstore tonight to meet up with some friends but I rarely buy anything which is strange. Years ago, I couldn't leave without a bag of new stuff. Now I'm "meh, I can wait". Watch me come home with 10 books tonight after this post, lol.
