Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books. It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! You know how sometimes Cass and I would sneak on the computer when Mom wasn't looking and feature books about/with dogs? (and birds adds Cass). Well in 2018 we're getting our own feature! It won't take the place of any Can't Wait Wednesday memes but once a month, we'll be doing "Books to Bark (and crow) About!"
We won't just be sharing books that are yet to be released, but sharing other books we've discovered and which Mom might be interested in. We're trying to convince Mom to run it the third Monday of each month but as soon as sometimes is finalized, we'll let you know.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program....
FROM GOODREADS: Sep, Arkle, Mack, Lamb and Hadley: five friends thrown together one hot, sultry summer. When they discover an ancient stone box hidden in the forest, they decide to each make a sacrifice: something special to them, committed to the box for ever. And they make a pact: they will never return to the box at night; they'll never visit it alone; and they'll never take back their offerings.
Four years later, the gang have drifted apart. Then a series of strange and terrifying events take place, and Sep and his friends understand that one of them has broken the pact.
As their sacrifices haunt them with increased violence and hunger, they realise that they are not the first children to have found the box in their town's history. And ultimately, the box may want the greatest sacrifice of all: one of them.
WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I'm always on the lookout for any horror, and this YA horror sounds like it will be pretty good. Plus I want to see what each one offered and how it comes back to haunt them.
WHAT BOOK CAN'T YOU WAIT FOR THIS WEEK???
Awesome news Booker T and Cass! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, the book sounds awesome. I can see why you chose it.
Yea I kind of stumbled on it and hadn't seen it before this week but I agree, it sounds awesome.
DeleteI do like the sound of this book - and your new post idea sounds excellent.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Thanks Lynn!
DeleteThis sounds like a perfect summer read. I think that the mysterious aspect of this one will definitely keep you turning pages. I hope that you enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with the cover and the fact that it contains some horror elements sold it to me.
DeleteOoh great news Booker T and Cass! You guys deserve your own feature at last! The book story sounds good...until it says YA. I just avoid YA books coz of all the tropes!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about YA. I don't mind reading it as long as it's good but love triangles are a staple in it it seems and they drive me NUTS.
DeleteI love your new feature! And great title😁 I like the sound of your pick this week too. I need to read more horror this year!
ReplyDeleteI hope to read some more horror as well. Even when I'm not reading it, I find I'm missing it. However, there are other genres I want to make time for.
DeleteThis book sounds amazing! I love a good horror book. Your new feature sounds fun. Have you read the books, Alex and Me or The Parrot Who Owned Me? Great true stories about birds and their owners.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of your new feature. And I like your pick this week. It sounds like it will be a little different.
ReplyDeleteDifferent is always nice huh?
DeleteI do love a good horror book and this sounds like a good one. Love the new feature idea!

I think the cover is what initially caught my eye - but that happens with a lot of books with birds on them.
DeleteYikes looks freaky! And go Booker T and Cass!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Greg!
DeleteOooh! I love the look of this cover! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog

ReplyDeleteI know. What's happening to the weather world!
DeleteHmm, YA horror...I'm intrigued! That's sometimes a hit or miss category with me, but I'm definitely going to be keeping my eye on this one!
