So I accidentally did NEXT's week post last night so while I can say I'm ahead in a way, I'm actually still behind so I'm cranking out today's actual topic which is new-to-me authors I read in 2017.
Not sure I can come up with 10 but let's try!
Sylvia Moreno-Garcia - Loved this book and can't wait to read more by her.
Kit Reed - I know this got mixed reviews but I really liked it and am looking forward to more horror from Reed.
Most of you know by now that I didn't like this book. However, I have wanted to read some Cutter for ages and I'm sure I will appreciate his other books more.
Bethany Blake is definitely becoming a new favorite cozy author.
Meg Kassel - I'm excited to see what she comes up with next!
Christina Henry - Lost Boy was my first book by this author but definitely not the last!
Meg Gardiner - I already have this sequel to read so I guess you could say I was pleased with this author's work.
Debbie Burns - This was such a great read that when I am in the mood for romance (and dogs) I will look to see what she has coming out for release.
Nnedi Okorafor - I feel in love with this book and thus, the author as well, in 2017
Jacqueline Frost - Can't wait for the next one in this series.
So there you have it. I can't wait to see what made everyone else's list this week!
Ah, look at that and you didn't think you could come up with ten. I think almost all my reads are always new authors...lol.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read books by any of these authors yet, so looks like I'll be discovering some of them in 2018. Thank you for the recommendations.
ReplyDeleteI had too many authors to choose from, so I ended up doing a top fifteen list!
Twelve Slays of christmas and Death by Chocolate Lab both look fun. :)
ReplyDeleteDang, I haven't read any of these except Little Heaven. I do think you'll love his other books though. The Troop is my favorite by him for sure.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those yet, but Little Heaven is on my Wishlist and so is Unsub.
ReplyDeleteI definitely enjoyed the other Nick Cutter books more. He became an autoread for me after reading The Troop. He is still an autobuy despite Little Heaven being a bit of a mess. Hopefully the next one you read will work better for you!
ReplyDeleteI see several books that I read and enjoyed this year. Lost Boy, Unsub, and A New Leash on Love were all great and my first experience with those authors as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually starting Unsub tonight so I'm excited to see it on your list.
ReplyDeleteThese are all new names and book covers to me! However, the 'Christmas' book looks really cute! Glad you discovered some great new authors this year, Barb.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the recent Finding Wonderland visit. :)
A New Leash on Love and the Twelve Slays of Christmas are definitely going on my to-read list!
ReplyDeleteI must get to Akata Witch this year. I hear all kinds of wonderful things about Nnedi Okorafor's writing. Yay once again for Silvia Moreno-Garcia! Great list.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the Nick Cutter book I tried so I hope you have more luck with it! I did notice you had done a different topic but didn't want to sound rude in saying it in case you did it by choice! You know how I go my own way at times...I thought you were rebelling!
ReplyDeleteI didn't do one of these lists this year for some reason, but I'm already planning ahead for next year. I still haven't read Nick Cutter (you've scared me away!) But I do love Nnedi Okorafor and really need to read more of her books.
ReplyDeleteI still need to read Lost Boy!
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous choices! I can see a few on here that intrigue me!
ReplyDeleteYes, Cutter's Little Heaven is definitely not an example of his best work. I highly recommend The Troop - that one was disgustingly gory and fun, and I expected something similar from Little Heaven, which was why I was so disappointed.

wow all of these are new to me! I love learning and reading about new authors!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!! I've added many of these to my TBR, hopefully I'll get around to them soon!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Meg Kassel being on your list! And while I was searching on Amazon for Christmassy books to pickup I didn't even see Jacqueline Frost's Christmas story. Adding it to my list for this December, thank you!
