This week's topic is best/favorite opening lines and honestly, I don't really track that kind of thing very well. So I'm giving you a different list. When everything started to shut down, I had a ton of library books out. My libraries have waived overdue fees and are yet to reopen. I thought I'd manage to get so many of them read before I had to return them, but alas, apparently even a pandemic couldn't convince me to pick them up this time around.
DEATHLESS DIVIDE - JUSTINA IRELAND
THE BOATMAN'S DAUGHTER - ANDY DAVIDSON
THE WOMAN IN APARTMENT 2A - ROSS ARMSTRONG
ASHLORDS - SCOTT REINTGEN
ALL THE STARS AND TEETH - ADALYN GRACE
So are they any here you recommend I try to squeeze in before I return them. At this point I'm seriously considering a clean library slate when they reopen.
Ashlords and Deathless Divide are two books that have fallen off my tbr as well :\

There's always some casualties when TBRs get really big right?
DeleteHa i like what you did with this one. :) The Woman in Apt 49 has me kinda curious...
ReplyDeleteMy Mom actually tried to read it and she had a hard time getting into it. Of course, she has kind of fickle reading tastes as I never know what she might like.
DeleteToronto's libraries did the same thing. They just started accepting returned books yesterday, I believe, and they're only open for pick-up/drop-off now.
ReplyDeleteI've heard fabulous things about Deathless Divide, but I haven't actually gotten around to reading that one yet myself. :)
My TTT .
I will probably get to that one eventually. Maybe around Halloween. It's never too early to plan October's TBR!
DeleteYou should definitely read The Boatman's Daughter, I got a NetGalley ARC way back when and never got to it, and I feel terrible. But everyone seems to love it.
ReplyDeleteI know and I want to but I'm scared. You know how I felt about his other book...
DeleteI haven't read any of these so would't know where to start, although I do like the cover for All the Stars and Teeth.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Yea it has tentacles which I am sure is why I grabbed it to begin with. I've heard mixed reviews but would like to read it eventually.
DeleteAll The Scars And Teeth has such a fascinating cover and title. I'd read that one.
ReplyDeleteI hope to read it someday. I've heard mixed things but I won't let that scare me off.
DeleteI vote for a clean slate. If you haven't wanted to read any of these by now, you probably never will. :D
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think!
DeleteI haven't read any of these but Melanie read and reviewed the Justina Ireland one.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
I did enjoy the first one in that series so I am likely to read it eventually.
DeleteI read Deathless Divide so you know my thoughts on that, part of me wants to try another Andy Davidson but scared at same time...lol. The other ones I really don't know much about but the one with the fire horse looks cool...lol
ReplyDeleteI definitely know how you feel about Davidson. I can't handle any more vamps in trailers. I do love the looks if that fire horse and you should see the sequel, it looks like a snow horse.
DeleteI thought I would pick up more books during this time, but I just haven't. I also have four books checked out from my library since February and haven't read them all.
ReplyDeleteI think with me I just keep putting them off knowing I have time and then never making time!
DeleteThese are all new to me! I think this pandemic has made a lot of us into mood readers!
ReplyDeleteYes! That's how I feel exactly!
DeleteYeah, I haven't gotten around to half the books that I thought I would. I am on vacation right now and thought I would be flying through a book a day but that has not been happening either.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late responding but I hope you had a great vacation.
DeleteI hope you like these when you get a chance to read them! I’m on a waitlist for The Boatman’s Daughter. It sounds delightfully weird.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I returned it without reading it but now need to get back on the hold list.
DeleteLOL. I think we all have books that fit in this category!
ReplyDeleteI bet we do. Seems like it.
DeleteI haven't read any of these...but, oh my gosh the covers for some of these!! And seeing as how you have them on your list... I think I need to check these out!!
ReplyDeleteHope you find some new favorites.
DeleteTHE WOMAN IN APARTMENT 2A by Ross Armstrong made me think of Rear Window (1954) by Alfred Hitchcock. Here's my TTT!
ReplyDeleteI hope I find time to get to it one day. My Mom tried to read it and didn't care for it but she has weird reading tastes.
DeleteNone of these books have been on my radar so I'm afraid I can't help you with that! I have taken a few steps on the non Potter reading path this week which is good but I'm not celebrating yet!
ReplyDelete*dies laughing* This is the best, most apt and relatable topic EVER
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it!
DeleteMy library got rid of overdue fines long before the pandemic, so that's been really nice. Right now, they've extended all the due dates as well, so that's helped me get all my library books read. Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Mine has waived all fines as well which I think is great. Seems like they are trying so hard to work with the community.
DeleteI think Ashlords looks cool. Good luck with your decisions!
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I love the cover and the cover for the sequel is even better!
DeleteHow funny! I've been having this problem with reading in general lately---I'm just not motivated to do it. Hopefully that will change soon.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I keep reading a lot but just not what I plan on reading. Sorry for the late response.
DeleteAll I can say is I still love the cover of The Boatman's Daughter. 😀
ReplyDeleteThe cover is great but so was the cover to the first one but then I couldn't stand it!
