What's Happening (05-24-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

I hate to say this but I feel like all the weeks are running together.  I'm still working part-time and all is fine but I'll admit I'm ready to dive back in. Also, even though we've always pretty much been homebodies, it's sad to see event after event canceled daily.  That doesn't mean I think it's a bad idea, I don't. It's just sad.  I've also had an allergy attack and have an itchy, scratchy throat and runny eyes.  Gee, you'd think with all this isolation that should have skipped me this year.

A lot of time must have been spent in front of Netflix this week when I think back to what I watched.  I finished up Dead to Me and thank heavens it ended strongly.  On another note though, they better freakin' renew it.  I also watched all 10 episodes of a new show called Sweet Magnolias.  It's a tad cheesy and plays like something that should be on Lifetime or Hallmark but on the whole it was entertaining and I enjoyed it.  It's based on a book series by Sherryl Woods if anyone reads them (not something I'd usually pick up though).  However, it actually had THREE cliffhangers when it ended which should be illegal.  If they don't renew it, I might riot just because I need to know.

I got to participate in a few blog tours this week and now I really want to finish three books before the month is out.  I must stay focused!  I'm about 50% done with The Secret of Bones and would have had it finished if I didn't need to put it down to read other things.  I've barely started Sister Dear or Until Summer Comes Around but I think they will both be strong hits.

I also snagged a few review books which I'm thrilled to read.  Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers!

So I hope you all are doing fine.  Are you watching or reading anything good.

  2. I'm so reluctant to get invested in any new show until it has two full and complete seasons behind it! I've been burned too many times with cancelled things with a cliffhanger so I would have sympathy if you are forced to riot! I so need to get watching all these dvd box sets I bought over various Black Friday sales!

    1. I know. I also feel like Memorial Day fell early this year. I need to check out Into the Night. You also need to check out Betaal - it dropped yesterday and we've already binged all 4 episodes.

  5. I just started Sweet Magnolias! It's a little saccharine for me, but it's not bad!

    1. You are right. It's a tad sappy but at least it's entertaining. I really like the chef - Dana Sue.

  6. Well I'm still happy at home. It is sad to see so many events cancelled but even with things opening, we aren't going out.

Lots of great new books - enjoy! Stay well!

  8. Ugh the weeks are totally running together for me too... AND I have allergies as well! My husband and I were outside taking care of a ton of yard work yesterday and today I'm a mess.

    1. I ran the weedeater at my Gpa's Saturday and I think that sealed the deal. My husband has made me check my symptoms each day for COVID-19 thought which I'm sure he means well but is coming across as more irritating than anything :)

  9. I am really sad for all the weddings, graduations, and other big life events that have had to be cancelled. My daughter just graduated a year ago and a lot of her friends have missed out on prom, senior nights, award ceremonies, and other things. We started Ozark last night and I think I might actually follow through with watching it. I am having allergy issues too which seems really unfair this year. I hope you have a great week, Barb!

    1. I agree. I think while on one hand the kids that were seniors this year will always have a unique situation to think back on, they missed so darn much.

  10. I'm happy to hear everyone is still well! πŸ‘✨

I love the cover of The Secrets of Bones, but I think I may have told you that already? πŸ˜€

I'm reading Lords and Ladies, the fourth Discworld Witches story arc title, and I'm loving it! 😍

All I have been watching are tutorials for the recording program I bought. I've been trying to figure out how to do digital drum tracks. πŸ˜›

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

    1. I need to read some Discworld books one day. My Mom is dating a guy who uses an AI as a bandmate - he named her Lucy. He is working on digital drums right now as well.

  11. I'm a homebody, too, but I'm starting to get really restless. I don't think the poor weather the last two days is helping. I agree with the allergies just feeling super unfair.

    1. I think it's because we know everything is getting canceled that it is depressing. Technically I'm home most of the time as well. Kind of like you want what you can't have.

  12. I love that all three of your new books are red😁 I'm sad too about everything that's being cancelled. It really is affecting everyone. Either you're involved in that cancelled thing, or you have tickets to see it, or whatever, but it's sad all around.

    1. I really hope they renew Dead to Me. Netflix always worries me. Especially after they canceled Santa Clarita Diet when it ended on a cliffhanger.
