Feed Your TBR - Wolf Season

Can't Wait Wednesday, which I have adapted to better suit my blog as "Feed Your TBR" is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

October 20, 2026

FROM GOODREADS: It’s been seven long years since Everett Johnson set foot in the wilds of Killdeer, Montana. But his father, the sheriff, is missing, and Everett is determined to find him…or bury him.

In the weeks before he vanished, Sheriff Dale Johnson was investigating the murder of Orsie Armel, a beautiful young girl found naked in the woods, shot with her own gun. Orsie came from a family of reclusive, powerful women whose prime acreage has long been the target of many people’s speculation – and ire. She also happened to be the cousin of Bernadine Armel, the only woman Everett ever loved. His return thrusts him headfirst into the minefields of estranged family and neglected friendships, and back into the arms of Bernadine, who is still as beautiful and mysterious as ever.

But as he delves deeper in the family’s past, he uncovers a sinister pattern of murders and hints of supernatural phenomena he can’t explain. In the end, Everett’s search for truth forces him to confront the past that has haunted him all these years—and the impossible secret beneath it all.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  Technically I'm just now noticing this came out yesterday, but I still want to share it.  I'm saving this from the winter season and am interested in the supernatural element, whatever that might be.

Feed Your TBR - The Off Season: A Novel

Can't Wait Wednesday, which I have adapted to better suit my blog as "Feed Your TBR" is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

April 20, 2027

FROM GOODREADS: Ben Getty is an LA cop banished to rural Maine, and now finds himself patrolling the streets and forest roads of Little Enoch. It’s an unremarkable town with a small summer tourist trade and a camp across the lake. For Ben, it’s his last chance.

However, there’s something that Ben’s new employers didn’t mention. The summer camp and its surrounding forest are the hunting grounds of a serial killer that has stalked the woods for decades, leaving a trail of bodies that stretches back to the first camp massacre fifty years ago. Only by following an ironclad list of rules that everyone in town already seems to know are the townsfolk kept safe… mostly.

But as the killings increase, Ben must choose between keeping the job he loves and discovering what really happened that night half a century ago. Between obeying orders and learning the dark secret behind the masked killer. Between protecting unsuspecting visitors from an inhuman monster and maybe becoming the latest victim himself. And perhaps most importantly...learning why everybody in town seems okay with it.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I won't lie, the cover initially caught my attention.  But when I read the blurb, I realized I really needed to learn more about the masked killer and the woods near the campground.

Feed Your TBR - Death at the Dog Hotel

Can't Wait Wednesday, which I have adapted to better suit my blog as "Feed Your TBR" is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

November 19, 2026

FROM GOODREADS: Having achieved local fame due to their crime-cracking exploits, Charlie Boardman and his fellow dogwalkers are delighted to receive invitations for a festive stay at a new dog-friendly boutique hotel on the outskirts of seaside town, Framstone.

A chance to enjoy some luxury and pampering, not to mention spending Christmas together, is gratefully accepted. That is, until one of their fellow hotel guests turns up dead in his room.

The dogwalkers soon realise they’ve got their paws on a murder. A rare White Christmas is now stained with red.

But who checked into the Dog Hotel with murder in mind?

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I just reviewed the first book in this series Monday and mentioned I hoped there was a sequel planned.  Well, unbeknownst to me, it was recently announced and it is coming out in less than two months. As this one centers around the Christmas holidays, it will definitely be read sooner rather than later, and I believe I may even have to preorder a copy!

Feed Your TBR - Messy as Hell

January 12, 2027

FROM GOODREADS: CAUTION! All employees must correctly dispose of otherworldly biohazards found on Dark Enterprises property. Failure to comply may result in one hell of a mess...

"If a door is closed, you leave it alone."

That's the one rule janitor, Sam, is given when he starts cleaning the infamous thirteenth floor of the Denver branch of Hell-like multinational corporation Dark Enterprises.

Sam is thrilled to be that much closer to his idol, Constantine Galanos, Denver’s ruthless and charming CEO, but he's even more excited to uncover the tantalizing secrets lurking up on the executive level. Maybe he’ll find something juicier than tawdry workplace affairs and petty office gossip, something he can share with his closest friends, daredevil Mia and secret crush Calvin.

When Sam comes across a closed door his first day on the job, he thinks one little peek can't hurt. But he’s dead wrong. Behind that door is a Type A biohazard—infernal materials from Hell on company property—and a deal that could spell doom for Dark Enterprises and Earth...signed by the CEO himself.

Sam is in deep trouble now, and the problems keep piling up. The CEO's homicidal assistant wants him fired (read: killed), Calvin is literally losing his mind over a secret project, and there’s something very unusual about Mia’s emotional-support rabbit, Mr. Bun-Bun…

It’s a mess like no other, but Sam is a janitor at Dark Enterprises. If he can’t save humanity and the man of his dreams, no one can.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT: My job is driving me crazy right now, mainly because we have been down 2 workers most of the summer, so I think this one sounds like a fun read to escape with.  Also, I really need to know more about Bun-Bun!

Feed Your TBR - These Twisted Hearts

Can't Wait Wednesday, which I have adapted to better suit my blog as "Feed Your TBR" is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

February 2, 2027

FROM GOODREADS: A romantic YA Midwestern gothic thriller, from the New York Times bestselling author of Dark and Shallow Lies, featuring a storm-chasing teen girl in a town cursed with violent weather.

One year ago, Ezra Winslow vanished from storm-plagued Promise, Oklahoma, and seventeen-year-old Jubilee Callahan is still searching for her first love and tornado-chasing partner. Then a monster twister touches down, and the strange and beautiful Star Holloway walks out of the wreckage claiming that he’s there to stop the deadly storms, and that Jubilee is destined to help him.

When the search for Ezra leads Jubilee to blood-soaked secrets buried just below the prairie dirt, the land itself turns against the people of Promise. Tall grass grows wild, animals flee, and red rain falls across dying farms.

Now, to make things right, Jubilee and Star will have to unleash a storm powerful enough to wipe Promise clean, right down to the bones.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I was hesitant to feature this one as I don't read a lot of YA anymore, but I do love the sounds of this one and think the storm aspect sounds pretty unique.

Feed Your TBR (Summer of Horror 2026 Edition)

Can't Wait Wednesday, which I have adapted to better suit my blog as "Feed Your TBR" is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Also, since it is Summer of Horror, each week I will be trying to do one horror and one horror pick - at least through August.  Except today, yo get two horror choices!

August 18, 2026

FROM GOODREADS:
It needs to feed.

After the recent separation from his wife Trish, Victor hopes his friends' annual weekend retreat to the Californian desert town of Superstition will loosen him up and reforge the group's fraying bonds. But something is waiting underneath Superstition, crawling its way into their group, and feeding into their desires.

Victor knows too well what it means to repress his desires. He's always attempted to be the perfect partner, yet often found himself lacking. With Trish skipping the trip, he begins falling into the wild underbelly of Superstition in new ways. When the leader of the town's Welcoming Committee approaches him with a romantic, sexually charged offer, Victor wonders if it's too good to be true.

But the Welcoming Committee expects a price to be paid for its services. One that cannot be fulfilled by willing bodies alone. By the end of the weekend, group bonding will have developed a whole new meaning.

Because something is hungry for Victor and his friends.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  First of all, it's vampires.  Secondly, I've seen blurbs referencing From Dusk till Dawn.  That's enough for me.

FROM GOODREADS: This humorous, heart-pounding, feminist slasher takes on misogynist social pressures with one former scream queen as she is pursued by a serial killer impersonating the antagonist of her films.

Former scream queen Barbra Jacobs desperately wants to break out of the box Hollywood has neatly packaged her in. Cast as the star of the Mirror horror franchise films twenty years ago, the breakout role that shaped her career has also destroyed her dreams of being taken seriously as an actress. Now forty, and still seeking the approval of everyone around her, she makes ends meet by signing old photos of herself and doing meet and greets at horror conventions.

So when a producer calls asking her host The Monsters We Made, a hot new horror docuseries, she sees it as a step in the right direction. But when fans begin dying around her—and in ways that mimic the kills in her films—Barb is thrust back into a role she can’t seem to walk away The Final Girl. Will she ever break out of the display-box-life she’s been imprisoned in, or will Mirror Man end it all in Barbie’s Scream House?

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I am really enjoying the slasher subgenre lately and this one sounds a bit campy and a lot of fun!

August 25, 2026

FROM GOODREADS: Juliette Macintyre has never met a dog she didn’t love. For one thing, dogs don’t judge, unlike the human residents of Labrador Falls. Most locals look at her with suspicion because her father was once a dirty cop, even though Juliette is upbeat, helpful, and the best pet groomer around. She just needs to prove it…starting with new resident Joel Cunningham, an enigma wrapped in a checked shirt and a scowl.

Joel runs the Brewed Awakening café, where the coffee is as smooth as Joel is surly. He doesn’t serve pumpkin spice, he doesn’t chitchat, and he claims he doesn’t like dogs. Yet when Juliette stumbles upon a dead body in the dog park, strangled with one of her custom leashes, Joel becomes an unexpected ally.

He has no intention of opening up, to either his cute neighbor or the foster pup she foists on him. But he can’t let a biased detective frame Juliette for murder. Whoever killed the widely loathed Maurice Allsop may be desperate enough to strike again. If they can just ignore their chemistry and focus on the clues, Juliette and Joel might be able to solve the case—before somebody else bites the dust…

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  Dogs and a small town called Labrador Falls.  This seems like an auto read for me right?

FROM GOODREADS: In a quiet suburb in the mid-1990s, nothing ever seems to happen. Then a teenage boy dies, and the adults are quick to call it suicide.

His friends aren’t so sure.

Drawn together by grief, boredom, and a creeping sense that something is terribly wrong, a group of teens begins to fixate on an abandoned house at the end of a cul-de-sac—a place everyone avoids, although no one can explain why. Once the gang crosses its threshold, they find that, somehow, the house seems to know them—showing them what they long for most, feeding on their fears, their shame, their secret rage.

As the line between nightmare and waking life erodes, the group is forced to confront not only the house’s sinister power, but the violence, cruelty, and despair festering inside their families and their town. What begins as a dare becomes an obsession—and then a reckoning.

The Ravaged Night is a coming-of-age horror novel from one of France’s most brilliant novelists about friendship, desire, and the terrible cost of growing up. An exhilarating celebration of Stephen King and the cult slasher film, this is a story about the places that shape us—and the ones that devour us.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT: I love a good coming of age horror story, and I've seen this one compared to Stephen King.

November 26, 2026

FROM GOODREADS: Layla Fitzpatrick lives a simple life, for a werewolf. And that's just how she likes it. Her childhood was less than ideal. She'd like to spend her adult years flying under the radar of more powerful preternatural creatures. Because she knows from experience what happens when they notice you. Everything changes one early summer night when she attends a ritual bonding ceremony meant to join two werewolves together for life. Midway through, the spell becomes corrupted and she finds herself unexpectedly mated to the stuffiest shifter she's ever laid eyes on.

Michael Kolbeck is more man than wolf. He spends his days in a skyscraper, building his family's empire. At night, he prowls the streets of Boston, a city where shifters, witches, and vampires walk a delicate tightrope of ceasefire masquerading as peace. Little do they know that Layla's arrival will act as the spark that ignites the fire, and that thin veneer of peace is about to vanish.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I know this author has been pretty popular lately and I am curious by the werewolf aspect of this one.

FROM GOODREADS: At eight years old, Juliet Godfrey was violently possessed by a demon who had already claimed the lives of her parents. When it proved unexpellable, she was sent to the gothic halls of the Godfrey Home for Demonically Afflicted Children, where she grew up under the mentorship and care of exorcist Luther Godfrey—and formed an uneasy truce with the demon inside of her.

Twenty years after her possession, a steely-eyed Juliet travels the country as an exorcist herself, removing powerful (and often violent) demons from their human hosts, and occasionally referring the rare children like her, who are infected with particularly dangerous demons, to the Godfrey Home.

When Luther Godfrey dies following the unexplained disappearance of Seth, one of his troubled young charges, Juliet returns home for the first time in many years to attend his funeral. But upon her arrival, Juliet discovers that Luther left Godfrey House, and the care of all its students, to her. As the house’s new matron, it’s Juliet’s responsibility to protect Luther’s legacy and find his missing charge, Seth, before the dark forces that stalk him claim his life…and his soul.

FROM GOODREADS: Love, laughter, and a little vampire charm…

In the snow-covered town of Willow Creek, Christmas runs like clockwork. Ghouls bake, vampires tend bar, and errant spirits drink cocoa―but this year, the holiday centerpiece has been stolen by rogue elves.

Event planner Holly Frost has no choice but to team up with the one man she truly cannot stand―Nikalus “Nick” Draven, the infuriatingly charming vampire who leads the local coven.

As they race to save the season, Holly starts to see the man behind the fangs, and Nick realizes he might care too much about the determined mortal trying to pull off a last-minute holiday miracle.

With Christmas, the gala, and their budding feelings on the line, Holly and Nick must decide whether they can bridge centuries of distrust and embrace the magic of the season.

Because nothing says Christmas like paranormal romance, small-town charm, and a little vampire mischief.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I love it when I can mix spooky into the Christmas holidays.  This one sounds like a lot of fun.

February 23, 2027

FROM GOODREADS: Ten years ago, the quiet mining town of Coalfield, Pennsylvania was thrust into the national spotlight when a boy at a local foster home was found brutally murdered. After the foster mother was arrested on suspicion of murder, the four remaining children were dragged in front of a court to explain what truly happened. There, Elliot Wolff—just eight years-old—testified.

What emerged were disturbing tales of child abuse, the sacrifice of animals and infants, and strange rituals performed in the woods and mines of the town. And the Dragon, always the Dragon, a specter who lurked in the shadows of the home.

Now on the cusp of adulthood, Elliot is still struggling to move on from the trial. He still finds his thoughts circling Coalfield, thoughts that he pours into writing music or drowns out with various substances.

Then, he is approached by Dean Corvin, a washed-up grindhouse director filming a documentary on the Satanic Ritual Abuse allegations at Coalfield. While sitting in front of a camera and rehashing his trauma is the last thing Elliot wants to do, Dean makes him an offer he can’t refuse, an offer that might finally allow Eliot to escape his aunt’s stifling house and start over somewhere far away.

But Elliot isn’t the only survivor joining the documentary: the other survivors are there, too, and each one has different memories of what happened.

The first few days of filming are strange, with bizarre dreams and memories resurfacing that he had long thought lost to time. As Elliot begins to reenact his final days at Coalfield Children’s Home, he begins to wonder if there may be a grain of truth to the lies he told on the stand. If something sinister and otherworldly really did happen to them.

If the Dragon is still out there, and intends to keep the past buried.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I'm enjoy when media gets involved and investigates incidents in the past.  Plus, I need to know more about The Dragon.

December 8, 2026

FROM GOODREADS: At the height of summer, Blackstream Oil finally starts drilling on Saliquaw Nation. But when an oil worker is found dead, inexplicably missing his heart, the already controversial oil deal is put at risk.

Starr is still chasing cold cases of missing women, with hardly any leads and even fewer resources to follow them. This perplexing death of an outsider—a white man—is the last thing she needs to distract from her mission.

But when a suspect in a fifteen-years-cold disappearance returns home to the rez, employed by the same shady fracking company, Starr wonders if he might be the key to solving both mysteries—past and present.

All the while, there are strange phenomena among the reservation’s wildlife—bison display aggression, fish wash ashore, and Starr begins hearing a Rain Crow's distinctive call everywhere she turns. The more Starr learns, the less it all makes sense… and the cry of the Rain Crow warns that a storm is coming.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  This is the second installment in the Carrie Starr series and even though I still need to read Mask of the Deer Woman, it won't stop me from picking this one up too.

FROM GOODREADS: Something is wrong at the world-famous ZOO USA. Animals keep escaping. Others are found dead in their enclosures. It’s a public relations nightmare for Ashlee Beauchamp, the communications executive responsible for convincing the public that nothing is amiss. Worse, she suspects the incidents are no accident—and fears someone on the inside is responsible.

Bright-eyed, young conservationist Megan Taylor is thrilled to be in town for North America’s largest conference for zoo professionals. The conference has been eye-opening, but at least she has Zoo Day to look forward to: a full day to explore ZOO USA with her sister, Sierra, if only she can convince Sierra (and herself) that zoos aren’t exploitative animal prisons.

Brandon McCabe is counting down the days too. Twisted by hate and hell-bent on revenge, the disgruntled zookeeper and his coworkers are planning something big to get back at the institution that has wronged them. Much like the animals he cares for, Brandon has grown tired of his cage—and when Zoo Day comes, everyone best run.

Told in real time over a single day, We Don’t Call Them Cages is an action-packed, multi-POV thriller that will leave readers breathless and thinking twice before their next day at the zoo.

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  I will have to see some reviews to see if I can handle the animals' deaths in this one which I am sure I will occur given the subject matter, but I'm all for seeing some zoo animals get revenge for their captivity!
