Weekly Reads (3/16/18)

It's been an exhausting week at The Farm.  Mr. Barb has been going to training an hour and a half away all week and I'm glad today's the last day because I think he's about ready to give out.  Plus it messes with the boys when he is not there when they get up.  Funny how they get used to routine as well.  He gets home about the same time so at least that has been good.

Some of my favorite TV shows have ended for this season so I'm gonna have to find something new to watch.  "This Is Us" went out with a sob - sometimes I don't know why I continually watch such a depressing show. "Bellevue" finished up and honestly, with how it ended, I'm kind of wondering if it was just a limited run thing.  I really enjoyed it but Anna Paquin was still Sookie, all the way to the end.  Even Mr. Barb, who just caught bits and pieces kept calling her Sookie.  At least "Santa Clarita Diet - Season 2" starts on Netflix towards the end of next week - YEA!

I'm kind of struggling with "The Hunger" right now which is sad because so many of my blogging buddies have loved it.  I'm just over 40% in so I guess there's still time for redemption.  I need to start "Sneaking Out" for a blog tour coming up and I hope to dig into "Revival" this coming week as well.

Hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day and a beautiful week!!  Any fun plans reading or otherwise???

  1. Sorry to hear you are exhausted Barb. Me too. That's why I'm so behind with my comments! Sorry about that! Poor Mr. Barb! Hang in there Mr. Barb! Yup puppies are as attuned to the family routine as their parents :) Hope next week is better for everyone!

  2. Sorry The Horror isn't working so well for you. I'm having a bit of a disappointing read myself this week, and it's a series I love. Hopefully things will pick up. I'm glad the week is over too! The time change killed me this time.

    1. I'm about 75% into The Hunger and it has picked up some. I think I wanted more horror than what I'm getting so I may have set myself up for the disappointment. I am enjoying the writing.

  3. oh dear I was hoping The Hunger was really good. I did have concerns that it might start slow. I hope you and Mr Barb can get some time to relax and recharge the batteries.

    1. Yes, it starts slow. Then there are some exciting pieces thrown in, but then it slows back down. I honestly think you would struggle with it.

  4. I was so disappointed in The Hunger. :( Secretly hoping you might like it more...but doesn't sound like that has happened yet. I have Sneaking Out on my list but might not get to it. Hope you like it!

  5. So sorry The Hunger didn't work for you. I watch This is Us also! This week! Ugh! I love that show, and the characters but they do this to us, make us addicted to watching these powerful stories and then end on a cliff-hanger! Haven't seen Bellevue though but I'm excited about The Santa Clarita diet! I was eating some cake during the first episode. I had to stop so I didn't get sick! It's so funny though!

  6. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one not watching This Is US. But yeah, when the other moms at the bus stop talk about how sad it is, it honestly doesn't sound like my kind of show at all. I can't do depressing.

    1. I thought I would hate it. In fact, I only started streaming it one night last year because Mr. Barb had to stay at work late and I wanted something to watch while waiting up for him. I ended up getting hooked but yes, it is quite sad. But an uplifting sad if that makes sense.

  7. Oh no! I was really hoping that The Hunger would be a good one. It sounds so good! It is amazing how the furry kids get so used to their schedule. I am glad that Mr. Barb can go back to his normal schedule again.

    1. It's getting better but I'm still not sold on it!

  8. Animals seem to love routine, don't they? And if we change it up they can get downright confused! As far as Anna Paquin, I've always kind of liked her as Rogue in X-Men but haven't sen her in anything else.

    Hope The Hunger gets better!

    1. I forgot all about Rogue. Yes, I did like her as Rogue, but then Rogue was always one of my favorite X-men.

  9. I watch This Is Us too. Those flash forward scenes were killing me! What is going to happen to Toby that he is so depressed? UGH. Fall is so far away to wait. Enjoy your reads.

  12. I'm on the opposite TV spectrum this week with all of my favorites starting up. I'm excited about Santa Clarita Diet, too. :)

I'm on the fence about reading The Hunger. I got very excited seeing the awesome reviews, but I'm afraid it's not going to fit my reading style. I think you are helping to confirm that fear right now.

    1. Honestly, I don't know that I would recommend The Hunger. I'm almost done and don't hate it, but it's REALLY slow and there isn't much horror in my opinion.
