Stacking the Shelves (163)/Sunday Post - I Have the Greatest Library.

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews. And it now has a new co-host where individuals can link up as well - Marlene from Reading Reality.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.  I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted by Kimberly@Caffeinated Book Reviewer

So I really do have one of the best libraries!  A few weeks ago, I requested a few books for them to purchase because I knew I wanted to read them and I didn't really want to purchase them.  Not only is it a money thing, it's a space thing.  Also, can I add that I can request books not currently owned by the library on their website from the comfort of my own home.  So I requested "Lizzie," "A Guide for Murdered Children," and " City of Lost Fortunes" and three weeks later, they are in my greedy little hands.  And last month they purchased "The Wild Inside," "Forever: Samantha Fox," and "Outpost" when I requested them.

Now "Bourne" is another story.  I saw Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy talking about it last week and I had no idea it had a giant bear which totally intrigued me so I added it to the library haul as well.

So the next three books I can also blame on Tammy.  A few weeks ago the topic of Friday Face Off was Dinosaurs.  She featured the first book in a series which honestly, sounded too quirky to pass up.  It was unavailable on Kindle so I check Thrift Books and was able to get all three in the series for about $10.00 including shipping.  Had I just got the first one, it still would have been about the same price so why the heck not?  "Anonymous Rex" is a dinosaur detective and one cover boasts "Sam Spade meets the X-Files."

And finally, of course I grabbed a copy of this baby -  "The Outsider."

So all in all it was a great book week at Booker T's Farm...thanks mostly to Tammy!

What did you add to your shelves this week???

  1. Hmm, not sure about those Eric Garcia books-the titles suggest sex and that makes me run for the hills! Borne sounds a bit on the strange side for my tastes though Mord does sound interesting. I'll be waiting to see more reviews of the Stephen King one before I decide if I want to read it. He's been more miss than hit for me in recent years.

    1. I actually don't think they have much sex in them are are most noir detective books...with a dinosaur. Only time will tell. Borne does sound strange but Tammy really liked it and I trust her judgement.

  2. Aren't libraries the best? My town has a really good one too. They also do inter loan check outs where they will borrow books from other libraries for us to check out. I know a couple of the librarians so I can usually get them to buy any books I really want to read but that doesn't happen very much because they have already ordered them.

Enjoy all your books. I am hoping to go to some thrift stores soon. I will be on summer break starting June 5th. I haven't read a Stephen King book in FOREVER! I hope yours is good.

    1. Ours does the inter library loan as well. It's great when you have an in with the libraries. We don't have many good thrift stores around my town so I have to go on-line thrifting.

  3. Libraries are so great! Mine generally has everything I want, although there are a few books they don't have. Sometimes if I just wait it out, they will eventually get it. But I'll have to see if they take order requests!

  4. My library is the best too! I don't request often but when I do they usually get them and fairly quickly. I can see why you wanted these!

  7. I too am blessed to have a phenomenal library system. I have requested they purchase several books that have improved their already stellar Medieval and Renaissance history collection. Hooray for libraries!

  8. I'm enjoying getting books for my Kindle from the library's Overdrive system, relatively new to me, so I'm like a kid at Christmas.

Enjoy your books...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  11. I haven't read a Stephen King book in years, and honestly none of his more recent books really called to me, but there's just something different about The Outsider. This one actually has my attention, and I'll need to grab a copy too!

    1. I liked Revival but still have Sleeping Beauties on my shelf next to the Bill Hodges trilogy which are all unread. Gwendy's Button Box was really good but when I read his novellas, I always think they need to be longer.

  12. Indeed I am quite jealous about that library :) and I remember Borne from Tammy's blog as well! I'd be curious to read it for sure. I hope you like it :) OMG I wonder what you'll think of the Rex books lol xD

  13. I've decided to try The Outsider, Barb. I will get through one SK book and this might totally be it! Also Hot and Sweaty Rex? Love it! Ihad to read that title twice to be sure I was seeing what I was seeing and not something else entirely lol

  14. I ended up getting a kobo so I could borrow ebooks from my local library (can't do it on kindle's here, which is dumb). It's definitely a space thing for me too, there's just so many physical books one can own!

I hope you enjoy your new reads :) have a great week!

    1. That's odd that they don't support Kindle. I used to have a Kobo but then Kindle became so popular. Now I couldn't live without it.

  19. I love the library! I have been able to get my library to purchase items that I wanted to read for me but I haven't done that for a long time. I have so many ARCs and other books I use the library more for audiobooks and movies these days. I hope you enjoy all of these!

  20. I’m glad you have a good library. Mine is pretty “meh.” I’m so envious that you got The Outsider. I need to pick up a copy of that one. Enjoy your new books!

  21. I love the library. I try not to request many since it feels like I already get so much stuff. But they are good about getting things. I have 3 libraries but the one where I live is not great. The one where I used to live in MN I still have because I have a bit of property still there. And I have my brother's library which is also great. He told me he didn't have a library card so I sent him over his lunch hour to get one! He's paid taxes 20 years there and can certainly have a library card (for me) Since I do all digital it's not like I am every getting fines or anything. Some big libraries sell memberships and I have been looking at that also. But I do get so many ARCs I can't complain at all. Anne - Books of My Heart
