Weekly Reads (05/04/18)

I can't believe May is here already.  Where has the time gone?  Although I will admit that May has brought hot summer temps to my town and has left me wondering what happened to Spring.  Mr. Mike is feeling much better and is getting back into the flow of things which is good.  Thanks for all the good thoughts you guys sent his way.

So we have a busy weekend planned but I've worked in some reading time.  A elderly man who lives a block away passed away this week so Saturday afternoon we are attending his memorial service.  Also, Booker T has to go the vet tomorrow morning for his yearly shots.  Daddy is taking him and he will be seeing his girlfriend (one vet tech is obsessed with him) so it will be a fun outing for  him and I'll stay home and play with Cass.  Here are the two books I'd like to finish this weekend.  I'm about 100 pages into "Closer Than You Know" and about 300 pages into "Outpost."  I'm enjoying them both so who knows what I'll be able to accomplish.

There are a couple of movies out which we also want to watch this weekend.  Tuesday night we watched "12 Strong."  I'm not a huge fan of "war" movies but I have to admit I enjoyed it and it was done really well.

I've also discovered a new song I'm in love with.  It's really strange because I'm not a huge country fan and I actually thought this was a Daughtry song when I first heard it.  Imagine my surprise to find out it was Keith Urban.

So I hope everyone out there has a wonderful weekend and upcoming week.  What are some of your plans???

  1. It definitely feels like we skipped spring here, too, but it's supposed to be cooling down the next few days, so that should be nice. Have a great weekend!

  4. Haha, a lot of people I know are saying what happened to spring? It seems like temps went from winter straight to summer, but I'm not complaining, it's nice to finally have good weather. And I hope Outpost continues to impress, I really want to read that and I still need to find time to fit it in.

    1. I've been trying to read more science fiction and this one was a complete success. I have 30 more pages to read tonight. I don't know when book #2 comes out but it can't be soon enough!

  5. Yeah same here w/ the weather- we seem to have skipped spring and gone right to summer? So frustrating. :)

Good luck Booker w/ shots tomorrow! Hopefully there are dog treats involved at the vet after the pokes. :) I'm hoping to get some reading in and watching The Rain on Netflix.

    1. Booker is ALWAYS spoiled but the vet tech that loves him have him lots of hugs and kisses - and he loves attention ALMOST as much as he does food!

  6. Prepare yourself... this is going to be cheesy! When I saw the cover for Outpost, I immediately thought, "Game of Bones!" Just ignore me and I'll go away, lol.

    1. Not cheesy at all. We kid the pups about "Game of Bones" all the time and joke that the Iron Throne should be a bone throne.

  7. None of the dogs that I have now like going to the vet but my Hershey used to love going. They gave her treats and lots of attention so it was a good time. We didn't get a spring this year did we? No fair. Glad to hear that Mr. Barb is feeling better. Have a great week!

  8. I am very curious as to what you think of Closer than you know. That one didn't quite grab me as much as I thought it would.

    1. I actually liked it but it had flaws. I mean seriously, how much hot water could that woman land in? She made stupid mistake after stupid mistake. I also thought the author put too much in it at times. My review should be fun to write.

    1. Booker T loves the vet. Cass not so much but he isn't a problem. Doesn't hurt that T has a girlfriend who is a vet tech that is obsessed with him.
