What's Happening...(02-07-20)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

Well we finally got our first real snow of the season.  It hit early Friday morning and by around 8am we had about 3-4 inches.  Luckily I had already planned on taking the day off as my birthday holiday so I got to stay home with the pups and introduce Apollo to his first snow!

By the way, thanks to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday here and on Instagram.  Just to clear it up because I've done a fine job of confusing people.  My birthday is actually in January but my agency allows us to take a paid day off in celebration up to 30 days afterward.  Nice perk and I enjoyed not having to go out in the snow.

So I did some reading and some watching this week.  We ended up watching the first episode of the new season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.  It's weird to say the least. We also watched the Super Bowl last Sunday and while I didn't really have a favorite in the game, I enjoyed seeing a close game with Kansas City winning.

I also got some reading done and am glad to say The Stand is almost finished.  I feel like I've been reading it longer than  the time it took them from the start of their journey until the end.  I will be so glad for that book to end.  I think Stormi agrees so look for our final thoughts on Thurdays.  I'll also be starting a thrilled this weekend for a Book Tour, and read a very interested YA thriller, Are You Watching, which I will be reviewing Sunday.

I only snagged a few books from Netgalley this week but I did get a great package in the mail.  I was contacted by Eric J. Guignard about some books he has written and edited for Dark Moon Books and he was kind enough to send me a few.  Lots of horror filled goodness awaits!

I also added the following via Netgalley.  The Truth Hurts is a domestic thriller, Deal With the Devil is a book I've been seeing EVERYWHERE, and of course I couldn't resist The Last Dog.

So how was your week?  Did you watch anything good or add any exciting books???

  3. Aww! Apollo looks so cute in the snow! Dexter loves it also. He cracks me up when he runs in the snow because he's so short.

That package of books and swag is fantastic. The pictures screams horror! :)

I can't remember if I wished you a happy birthday on FB or not so if not I did it on instagram! Had me all confused, lol. Auggie says Happy Belated Birthday too.

I need to look up Deal with the Devil, love the cover!

Have a wonderful week Barb! Happy Reading!

    1. Yea it is a nice perk. Don't be too excited for me review. I have a feeling I should have read the shorter version of it.

  9. Apollo looks so cute out in the snow-good to hear that he learned to enjoy it! We're in the middle of a two day storm and snow is being predicted for this week. Not ideal when waiting for a furniture delivery!

  10. Apollo's first snow!! How awesome that you get a birthday day off. Yaaaay! Eric is the best. I can't see the primer in your picture... is that the Kaaron Warren one?! I love those stories. So weird and imaginative.

    1. Always more books than time. Hope you are having a wonderful week! I saw the cover of the Cold Nose Warm Heart sequel the other day. The books may be "meh" but they know how to do a cover!

  12. I did think your birthday was earlier in the year. Don't you love those special days off from work! Apollo looks so cute in the snow:) We are having warm weather here and I'm enjoying having the door open and airing out the house.

  14. That's an awesome package. I keep meaning to watch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but I haven't gotten into it yet. I did start watching You this week, and so far I'm liking it.

    Happy reading!

  15. Happy late birthday :) I was very disappointed in that first episode of Sabrina. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. I hope things improve.

  16. Ugh, we got snow, too, and I didn't want it, and thank goodness it's gone already. xD I'm not a snow person, but my own puppers all absolutely loved it. For our newest one, it was our first time seeing her experience snow, so that was fun. I'm sure she's seen it before, but she was still very impressed.

Whoa, you get a day off from your job for your birthday?! I'm jealous. D: I had to work on mine. xD I didn't even get cake LOL.

I've got an ARC of Deal with the Devil, too, and I'm so excited to read it! It looks like it'll be great.

    1. Dead with the Devil does sound great. I didn't get cake but got a giant sugar cookie with icing. With only 2 people in our house, it's hard to justify a whole cake. I'm not a snow fan too unless I can stay inside and watch it. I do think it's pretty until someone walks through it and then it looks messy :)

  17. omg Apolo is just way too adorable for my poor heart! I want to hug him so badly! Happy Belated Birthday! I CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE FINISHING THE STAND! That's like reading the bible! Well.. actually I can if someone can read such a mammoth book that's you :)
