What's Happening (05-09-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

Hey guys!  So here I am.  Finally.  I missed last week's post and then have been hit or miss on commenting all week.  I plan on taking at least a half a day next week and catching up.  I think I've fallen into the trap of no motivation since I'm still off work.  I HAVE to remedy that.  In good news though, I have been able to get some hours in and the hope is that by the end of May, my agency will be back full-time.

Everyone at The Farm is still ok.  I worry about Mr. Barb daily because he is a Correctional Counselor and I know if one case gets in that place, then a lot more will follow.  Grandpa is doing great but is getting bored.  I've been visiting him an extra time each week when I can to keep his spirits up.  He lives about 30 minutes away so it takes some planning.  I did manage one Instagram post this week so next week's goal is to update Cass and Apollo pics.  Apollo has hid last set of shots for a year on Friday and he weighed in at 52 pounds.  He's still pure chaos of paws but we love him.  Cass's leg pull is completely mended now.

So we managed to watch some movies.  We watched "The Turning" which I liked until the end and then I was confused.  I definitely need to read the book. We also watched "The Boy 2."  I actually liked it better than "The Turning."  Finally we watched "Bloodshot" which was as action-packed as expected.  I have one more Riverdale episode for the season since it was cut short and then I'm through with that.  I also finished "Little Fires Everywhere" which I really enjoyed.

I hope to get some reading done this weekend but since it's Saturday evening right now and I haven't picked up a book yet, I need to get moving.  I did finish a buddy read with Stormi last night which was a really good read.  Watch out for the review soon.  Here's what I'm hoping to pick up soon.

I also picked up a new physical book and two ebooks I preordered.  I had to wait forever for If It Bleeds to arrive but I finally did.  And I have a question, am I the last person to realize that the cat's nose is actually a mouse?  Also, I had to have Riverdale 4: Death of a Cheerleader and Path of Night: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina 3.

And finally I got Size Zero, My Life in the Purple Kingdom, and Black Sun for review.  My Life in the Purple Kingdom is about the bass player in The Revolution and you know me and my Prince books!  I'm excited for all three of these.

So I hope you all had a great week and look to get bombarded with comments soon!

  8. Nice haul of books. It's been hard to find time to visit and comment on other blogs for me. I do plan to try and catch up with that since I have tomorrow off of work. I also have a bunch of reviews to write. Yikes!

  9. I'm not surprised that you're nervous for Mr Barb in that environment-I would be too. I really hope the virus stays away from there. It's funny but boredom is never an issue for me staying indoors. Your grandpa and my uncle have the boredom thing in common for sure. I'm glad the furry dudes are both doing well and give them a big hug from me!

  10. I'm a little confused by the Riverdale books. I bought one but I don't think it's based on the TV show, I think it's based on the comics. Hmmm. I've been working part time and it's been lovely, but I think I have to start full time next week🙁 Have a great week, Barb!

  11. Prisons could be rather scary right now. I hope that nothing happens where your husband is working. It is nice that you have been able to visit with your grandpa more during all of this. I didn't realize that the nose is a mouse. I do plan to pick up a copy of If It Bleeds whenever I see it in a store. I hope you have a great week, Barb!

  12. ... no, you are definitely not the last person to realise the nose was a mouse! I'm squinting at the screen right now, tyring to see it lol And I hope Mr Barb continues without incident at work.

  13. I'm glad everyone is hanging in there. 💜

I've only managed one post a week for the last three weeks. 😛

I posted a pic on Instagram, too. I tried catching up on IG, but heck... it amazes me how many people post more than once a day. 😯

I hope your week started out well. Stay safe, and give the pups a hug from Auntie La La. 🌞

  14. I came across And Then There Were None on my kindle when I was looking for books for this week's TTT. I've wanted to read that for ages so might try and pick it up soon.

  15. Glad you're all doing okay! It's a crazy time... Your worrying about your husband is totally understandable and relatable. I look forward to the doggie pictures! Pet pics on Instagram are the best kind. :)
