I'm In Love With This Book!

TITLE: Fangs
AUTHOR: Sarah Andersen
PUBLISHER: Andrews McMeel Publishing
PUBLISHING DATE: September 1, 2020

FROM GOODREADS: A love story between a vampire and a werewolf by the creator of the enormously popular Sarah's Scribbles comics.
Elsie the vampire is three hundred years old, but in all that time, she has never met her match. This all changes one night in a bar when she meets Jimmy, a charming werewolf with a wry sense of humor and a fondness for running wild during the full moon. Together they enjoy horror films and scary novels, shady strolls, fine dining (though never with garlic), and a genuine fondness for each other’s unusual habits, macabre lifestyles, and monstrous appetites.
First featured as a webcomic series on Tapas, Fangs chronicles the humor, sweetness, and awkwardness of meeting someone perfectly suited to you but also vastly different. Filled with Sarah Andersen’s beautiful gothic illustrations and relatable relationship humor, Fangs has all the makings of a cult classic.

MY THOUGHTS: I was so happy when I saw this adorable little book on the "new" shelf at the library a few weeks ago and I knew it would be perfect for a Halloween read.

Elsie is a three hundred year old vampire.  We learn a bit of her backstory with dating but pretty quickly the reader sees her meeting Jimmy, a introspective werewolf, in a local bar.  The author then takes the reader on their love affair complete with all of their compatibilities and sometimes lifestyle challenges.

If you're family with Andersen's other books, then you know her art style which can best be described as cute and quirky.  In Fangs, she definitely has a way with words and I even marked a few quotes to add to my quote book (this is a new thing I'll be sharing at a later date).

I also need to mention the physical book.  It's a wonderful small cloth-bound book and you can see above how awesome the cover art is.  If you like Andersen's work or just want a smile then this is the book for you.  I didn't know that my cold black heart was craving a vampire/werewolf love story but apparently it was.

RATING: 5 PAWS (furry werewolf paws)

  1. I loved this too, although I never wrote a review. It was so charming, which isn't usually a word I use to describe vampire and werewolf stories๐Ÿ˜

    1. Yea it was a hard one to write a review for because one, it was a graphic novel and two it was so short. But I did want to give it some publicity :)

    1. It's fun but I don't know that I'd had bought a copy. It was so short and small for the cost. Glad my library had it.
