What's Happening (12-12-20)...

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

Man what an exhausting 2 weeks since my last update.  A few days after Thanksgiving week, Mr. Barb called me on the way home and said that he probably shouldn't come home.  Apparently a guy at work had been sick all day and they came an hour before my husband got off and told the guy he had to leave because he was positive for COVID.  Now why he was there is beyond me and you can bet the following day I made quite a few phone calls.  Mr. Barb did come home and was tested the next day at work.  He wanted me to get tested so I scheduled one and couldn't get in until last Sunday.  I couldn't be around Gpa until I found out so luckily Stupid Uncle stepped up.  Mr. Barb's came back in 2 days (negative) but mine took 5 days.  Thank Heavens it was negative as well and thank goodness Mr. Barb wears his mask all the time at work and social distances the best he can.  I'm sure I'll be having another one soon the way things are going at his workplace.  Gee I think the last what's happening post has him testing as well.  What can I say, the facility he works at is full of idiots!

On to better news.  Other than that things are going fine.  Seems like the time is flying and Christmas will be here before we know it.  We spent a few evenings watching "To The Lake" on Netflix which wasn't bad but which I dubbed "Stupid Russians in the Snow."  We've also been watching football, including the Steelers game which was supposed to be played on Thanksgiving Day but kept getting pushed back.

I'm waiting for one final wall art to arrive before I show off my library/office.  Yes, as you can imagine, it's a Prince picture and I honestly think they are trying to get his permission beyond the grave before they ship it to me.

First I want to share what I'm currently reading the next week of so. I'm almost done with Hark! the Herald Angels Scream which is for my on-line horror book club.  Then I'll be reading Mistletoe and Mr. Right and The Twelve Dogs of Christmas.

So I really hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the holiday season no matter how you celebrate.  Cassius and Apollo are doing great and are anxiously awaiting Santa Paws.  They want to thank you for taking the time to visit Booker T's Farm!

  1. I'm glad you guys tested negative! My wife's workplace is the same way- they've had people who've had it in there and it took them months before they requird masks at work. So stupid. In fact we're pretty sure that's where we got it from when we had it.

Can't wait to see your pics!

    1. It's been a huge mess. He had to random test again today but that's to be expected. You would think since he works for the state they would be smarter about things. Glad you guys are doing okay.

    1. Yep, trying to squeeze some holiday reads in. About the only time I "tolerate" them is between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

  3. It's aggravating about how much they push stay home if sick and wear your mask then state run facilities like that just let someone come in and contaminate people, especially ones that can't go anywhere! Rant over. :)

Can't wait for you to start Mistletoe and Mr. Right, I think I like it about the same as the other one.

  4. Wow, that is scary. I'm glad both you and Mr. Barb were negative. Wearing masks and washing your hands and distancing really does work. We had someone at work turn up positive a few months ago but no one else got it. Hope you have a great week, your books look fun and festive!

    1. Yea, it does seem to help but even know I know he is smart at work, I still worry about him non-stop.

  5. I will never understand people that don't feel well still going about their business every day! Why was that guy even at work?? There have been outbreaks at some of the locations of my husband's company, and I'm just like, people are not following instructions!

    1. That's what my husband wants to ask him when he finally returns. I know, I wonder how some of them survived Kindergarten if they can't follow directions as an adult!

  6. Why was that co-worker at work if he was sick?!? I'm glad you and your husband both tested negative. Stay safe and have a good week!

  7. Thank goodness the tests came back negative! Hopefully the vaccine will be available to everyone soon. 👏👏👏

Oh, I cannot wait to see the Prince artwork! I hope you receive it soon. 😍

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas is a great title for a Christmas book. 🎄

Have a wonderful new week. I will be DMing you on book Twitter tomorrow about the Dog Days donation. 🌞

    1. I'll look for your message. I'll be glad when my husband goes on vacation next week. At least we'll be home where things feel normal.

  8. I thought of you this week often because it was a "dog" week. You can read about how I started making my own dog food and how we found multiple walking routes which Lulu loves. Also, take note - the dogfather holiday novella is free this month. I love that series and it is set in NC. I hope next week is smoother for you!

  9. I am glad that your tests were negative but the waiting must have been really hard. It sucks that his work is taking risks. I hope you are doing well and have a great week, Barb!

    1. I hope you are finally getting settled in the new home. And yes, I'm hoping for a much quieter week.

  10. I'm so glad that you are both ok. There are some real idiots out there who don't care if they infect people or are too dumb to follow a simple few rules. I dread to think how stressful the wait for the results was. I'm just glad you're ok.

    1. Too many idiots. It was pretty stressful and of course I imagined I had all kinds of symptoms which were all in my head and I knew it. Man, the world is a MESS!

  11. So happy that your tests were negative - it amazes me how careless some people are!
