Mr. Mutt Rocks!

Hey guys, it's me Booker T Boxer and Mom is letting me do the post today and I am thrilled to bring to you an update.  Cassius and I have been trying to avoid the spring/summer heat and allergens but it hasn't been easy.  We also recently got a new "ride" which I might note we haven't even been inside of yet.  Mom and I recently read a children's book about Mr. Mutt, which I loved.  Since Mom says this book is more on my level, whatever that means, I get to do the entire review!

TITLE: Help Me, Mr. Mutt - Expert Answers for Dogs with People Problems
AUTHOR: Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel
PUBLISHER: HMH Books for Young Readers
PUBLISHING DATE: April 1, 2008

FROM GOODREADS: Responding to disgruntled dogs nationwide, Mr. Mutt, Canine Counselor, has solutions to the most sticky dilemmas. But Mr. Mutt has his own problem to solve: the cat (aka The Queen), who has her own idea of who’s in charge. Now Mr. Mutt is the one who needs help--quick!

Through letters and newspaper clippings--and with plenty of their trademark humor--Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel give voice to despairing dogs everywhere.

BOOKER T's THOUGHTS:

I love Mr. Mutt.  First let me say that the artwork was colorful and caught my attention so I am sure any child would love it.  Also, Mr. Mutt has some very practical advice for dogs and how to deal with their people problems, and let's admit, all dogs have people problems at one time or another.  I don't know where Mr. Mutt got his counseling degree, but his advice is "spot on."  Mr. Mutt also discusses his own problems with a cat, which I found very helpful.  There are a few cats who run my neighborhood and invade my property from time to time and I wish they would stay on their own turf.  One even killed Cassius' baby birds which was up so high we thought they would be safe (Cassius is an expert bird watcher but don't tell him I paid him a compliment - it might go to his head).  Overall, if you are a fan of dogs, love dogs, or are a dog yourself, definitely check out Mr. Mutt.

RATING: 4 PAWS

Waiting on Wednesday (8)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming anticipated releases.  Here is what I am most waiting for this week:

Vamp City #3 - July 2015

In the gripping conclusion to the Vamp City trilogy, sorceress Quinn Lennox and vampire Arturo Mazza battle the dangerously powerful vampire master, Cristoff Gonzaga, in a desperate attempt to save both of their worlds. As Vamp City crumbles around them, their only chance of survival demands an unconditional trust that will test the very foundation of Quinn’s soul, and surrender to a powerful love neither can deny.

I absolutely loved the first 2 books in this trilogy and am so glad to finally see the last one coming out.  If you love urban fantasy, definitely check this series out.  I can't wait to see how it all wraps up.

What are you waiting for this week?  Leave me a link so I can check out your post.

Top 5 Wednesday - Books I'll Never Read!

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Gingereadslainey on booktube and can also be found on goodreads.  The link is located HERE.  This week's topic is books I will never read.  This is really similar to a recent Top 10 Tuesday, so in order to save time, I am just going to link that post. I actually only posted 5 on that topic anyway so maybe it was meant to be. Hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to see what made your list!

Top 10 Tuesday - Summer/Beach Reads

The Top 10 weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and can be found here.   Each week they focus on lists which cover various topics related to books and reading. This week I am focusing on the Top 10 Books I plan to have as "beach reads."  As I don't really travel to the beach, and enjoy more low-key vacations in "Porchville," these books are ones I would like to read during summer break.

Outlander: Diana Gabaldon.  I don't know why I consider this a "summer read" but I do plan on starting it in July with a few readers on Booktube so it is in my virtual summer reading bag.

Wellies & Westies: Cressida MaLaughlin.  Gotta have a book or two with my favorite 4-legged friends.

One Small Act of Kindness: Lucy Dillon.  I love Lucy Dillon's books and this is her newest.  She is a perfect summertime read.

Anatomy of a Misfit: Andrea Portes.  This book is supposed to be a hilarious coming-of-age story and everyone needs some laughter on vacation.

I've Got Your Number: Sophie Kinsella.  Just read my first Kinsella book and I am already wanting more. I have heard lots of people consider it their favorite so in the "porchville" bag it goes!

Catch of the Day: Kristan Higgins.  This one has been on my TBR for sometime and looks perfect for a summer read.  (Must add this is a total impulse read based on cute dog on the cover).

The Rosie Project: Graeme Simsion.  I must be one of the last to read this, but I think it's perfect for summertime.

Elvis 2 Elvis 3 Elvis 4
Elvis and the Grateful Dead, Elvis and the Memphis Mambo Murders and Elvis and the Tropical Double Trouble: Peggy Webb.  I like a cozy mystery from time to time - especially if they involve dogs or supernatural elements - so I hope to read more of this series this summer.

Do you recommend any of these and what made your Top 10 this week?  Leave a comment and I'll check out your Top 10!

A Quick Friday Reads

I don't usually post a Friday Reads, but figured it would be quick and harmless.  Plus, the family has spent all week car shopping and are officially done so I will be celebrating this holiday weekend with a little cleaning, lots of movie/series watching, and lots of reading.  There may even be some liquid celebration and we have promised the pups a trip in the new vehicle.  Anyway, on with Friday Reads.

I am reading this now...

I will read this next...
And if all goes well, I will start this!

Have a great holiday weekend for all who are celebrating!!!!!!

Top 5 Wednesday - Debut Novels

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Gingereadslainey on booktube and can also be found on goodreads.  The link is located HERE.  This week's topic is Debut Novels.  Here are a few I have on my TBR this year.

The Diabolical Miss Hyde: Viola Carr - Release February 10, 2015

An Ember in the Ashes: Sabaa Tahir - Released April 28, 2015.  I have heard such wonderful things about this book and I can't wait to read it!

The Library at Mount Char: Scott Hawkins - Releases June 16, 2015.  Sounds just odd enough to catch my interest.

Love is Red: Sophie Jaff - Released May 12, 2015.  This promises a mix of suspense and fantasy and is the first in a trilogy.

The Creeping: Alexandra Sirowy - Releases August 18, 2015.  Not a huge fan of the cover but the synopsis sounds great.

What made you list this week?  Leave me a comment so I can check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday (7)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming anticipated releases.  Here is what I am most waiting for this week:

RELEASES AUGUST 25, 2015

Asylum meets Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, in this riveting tale of ghosts, secrets, and family, from master of suspense Katie Alender.

Delia's new house isn't just a house. It used to be an insane asylum, a place to lock up "troubled" young women long ago. And a restless, wicked spirit is still at play--and it doesn't want defiant girls like Delia to go anywhere.

So the house kills her.

Now Delia is a ghost, trapped in her creepy home forever. As she meets the other ghost girls who haunt the narrow hallways, as well as the handsome ghost boy on the grounds, she learns shocking truths about the house's history. Delia also realizes that her alive and grieving sister might be the house's next target. Can Delia unlock the mystery of the old asylum, save her sister, and free herself?

Sounds great huh?  I am on a bit of a horror phase lately and this one sounds just up my alley.  What are you waiting for this week?  Leave me a link so I can check it out!
