Waiting on Wednesday (28)

"Waiting on" Wednesday is weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights upcoming anticipated releases.  I am doing double duty today as Booker T was looking at my Goodreads wishlist with me and kept hinting "Mom, pick one with a dog!"  So here we go....

Black Five: J. Lynn Bailey - November 17, 2015
FROM GOODREADS:  No one ever accused Penelope Jackson of being normal, nor did they suspect the dark secret she kept. A dangerous web of deceit and secrecy unravels when news of a stranger’s death puts Penn on a collision course with the very person she’s been hiding from her whole life. Her fragile world is shaken to its core with the sudden arrival of Vacavious and she soon discovers the bizarre and magical world surrounding her seemingly ordinary life.

No one is who they claim to be, including those closest to Penn. A mysterious security detail emerges from the shadows scrambling to protect her as powerful forces await the fall of her protective veil on her eighteenth birthday.

Penn prepares to fight against unseen evils before it’s too late. The world of Nighmerianotte and its population depends on her survival, for she is the Sanguine, the Black Five.

WHY I'M WAITING: This just sounds really interesting and I really like the cover.  I want to find out more about it.

Miss Ruffles Inherits Everything: Nancy Martin - Nov. 3, 2015
FROM GOODREADS: Rich and flamboyant Honeybelle Hensley, the most colorful character in Mule Stop, Texas, dies a suspicious death and enrages the whole town by leaving her worldly fortune to the most undeserving recipient-her dog. The incorrigible Miss Ruffles is a Texas Cattle Cur, not a cuddly lapdog, and when Honeybelle was alive, Miss Ruffles liked nothing better than digging up Honeybelle's famous rose garden after breakfast, chasing off the UPS man before lunch and terrorizing the many gentleman callers who came knocking at cocktail hour.

But now Miss Ruffles is in danger, and it's up to Sunny McKillip, the unwilling dogsitter, to keep her safe. Sunny is new to Texas, and sometimes she feels as if she's fallen into an alien world. If it isn't the pistol-packing football fans and the sweet-talking, yet ruthless ladies of the garden club who confound her, it's the rowdy rodeo hounds and the tobacco-spitting curmudgeon at Critter Control who have her buffaloed. With a killer on the loose and a cowboy lawyer keeping a suspicious eye on her every move, Sunny needs all the help she can get understanding how Texans think. There's more to Honeybelle's death than meets this Yankee's eye, and Sunny has Miss Ruffles to protect, too. It's a bucking bull ride of an adventure for Sunny, and if she's not careful she might just get killed . . . or her heart lassoed.

WHY BOOKER T IS WAITING:  It has a dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And it looks like the dog is rich and I want to see how she did it.  (I didn't have the heart to tell him it actually came out yesterday - I think I will just hop over to Amazon and order him a copy).

What are you waiting for this week?  Leave me a comment so Booker T and I can make sure to stop by and check out your post.

  13. These are both GREAT picks!

The cover of "Black Five" is creepy-looking, but I really like it! It's so imaginative! And the plot sounds very, very interesting, too -- I want to find out just what abilities Penn has.

As for the other book, that cover is so adorable! A dog with a tiara! Lol. The plot sounds hilarious, as well, with its mix of mystery, comedy, and romance.

Thanks for featuring these books, and for commenting on my own WOW!! : )
