Stacking the Shelves (103) - Another Trip to the Library

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.

So I ran into the library really quickly during lunch Thursday to grab "Chew: Vol. 2" since I liked it so much and of course, I ended up browsing the new book sections and went home with too much again.  I may get to all of them and I may not, but unless someone else reserves them, I can renew and keep for up to 9 weeks so we'll see.  I really to see where "Descender Vol. 2" heads and I've never heard of "Zatanna" but  the book looks super awesome.  I had no plans on reading "The Chemist" and still don't really but I did hear mention of some really cool dogs in it somehow so I'll admit I'm curious.  It may be OK as long as there are no sparkling vamps in it.  This isn't the cover of the "Dark Days Pact" I have but I don't like that version so I'm showing this one.  Also, I've seen "The Grendel Affair" around the net and the library just got a copy so I grabbed it.  Hey, at least they all were free.

I got the following for review.  "Memortality" is for a blog tour and "The Only Child" and "The Halloween Children" looked too good to pass up.  So I basically have an addiction but at least I don't need to run from the cops.

And finally I have a few books for my Kindle.  "The Skeletons of Scarborough House" is a #Stormimademedoit buy, but in her defense, it has a pug named Lestat who shows up in it so I'd probably have bought it anyway.  "The Queen of Blood" was a daily deal one day and "Fangs vs Claws" was free.

So what did you add to your shelves this week and have you read any of these?  Anyone know anything about the dogs in "The Chemist?"  If so, please clue me in.

  1. A pug called Lestat sounds like something you wouldn't want to miss! Maybe you should do a cool doggy guest post at The Book Cave! That haul is certainly going to keep you busy for a while!

    2. Would love to have you both! You can have full creative control over content and length etc. It's just a matter of sending the text and any graphics you want to include or send the html code and I can paste it onto the blog. I'm happy to put it up anytime so you can just send it whenever suits you.

  2. I look forward to your thoughts on The Chemist. I had a love/hate relationship with Twilight, but I thought she was an excellent storyteller.

    1. I didn't hate Twilight when I read it, but wasn't as enamored as many. Bella really grated my last nerve. I'm curious about this one.

  3. Lot of great looking ones! I do hope you like my recommendation, I can't wait for you to try it cause the way the MC thinks of Lestat as a mafia boss, it cracks me up. :) I want to say read it now! ;)

    Enjoy your reads!

  4. I enjoy the SPI Files - pretty standard UF, but the series has featured some very interesting paranormal creatures. Reminds me that I still have the latest book to read... :)

I also enjoyed The Queen of Blood. Much better than I thought it was going to be.

  6. Great haul this week! I miss my library. I am on vacation this week so I may stop in one of the libraries that are open. I do need to read the Alison Goodman series.

    1. I always try to go several times a month but then one is only 10 minutes away and the other 15 so it's no real strain to make a trip.

  7. Wow. That's a lot of good looking books, Barb. I tried to swing by the library after work on Friday. Forgot it was the Arts&Crafts Festival and couldn't get near the place. I visited Amazon instead. LOL Happy reading!

  11. I do the same thing at the library, it's terrible. :) And I've been curious about Descender. I have a bunch of graphic novels that I'm curious about but have been terrible at reading them lately.

The Queen of Blood looks great and so does Fangs vs. Claws!

So thanks for reminding me WHY I had The chemist on my TBR. Now I noticed the author and I guess I'm curious about how she did with this book :)
