Can't Wait Wednesday (129) Booker T to the Rescue!

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight highly anticipated books.  It is based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme which used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Hello fellow bloggers - it's me Booker T!  I don't know about you but I needed a break from Mom's horror-fest and thought some of you might too.  So this week I'm bringing you a few new picks I've secretly added to Mom's TBR.

Oh, and Cass can't come to the blog right now.  I've left him to guard that crazy wolf that took up residence on our wall.  I told him if he did a good job, I'd make sure he has a post of his own soon.  So on to my picks!

FROM GOODREADS: Tomorrow tells the story of a 217-year-old dog and his search for his lost master. His adventures take him through the London Frost Fair, the strange court of King Charles I, the wars of the Spanish succession, Versailles, the golden age of Amsterdam and to nineteenth-century Venice. As he journeys through Europe, he befriends both animals and humans, falls in love (only once), marvels at the human ability to make music, despairs at their capacity for war and gains insight into both the strength and frailties of the human spirit.

With the rich historical vision of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrelland the captivating canine perspective of A Dog’s Purpose, Tomorrow draws us into a unique century-spanning tale of the unbreakable connection between dog and human.

SYNOPSIS: As a techinician for a local vet and the owner of the Barkery & Biscuits dog baker, Carrie Kennersly is proud to give back to the community by helping out with a rescue animal adoption event.  She's also happy to be in a relationship with veterinarian Dr. Reed Storme, despite his repeated pleas for her to butt out of the murder cases she keeps finding herself involved with.  But when Reed is accused of killing nasty Dr. Raela Fellner, a former veterinary colleague who is now trying to compete with him, he seems a lot more amenable to having amateur detective Carrie butt in.  Can Carrie clear Reed - or does she care too much for a killer?

WHY I CAN'T WAIT:  First of all, look at those covers.  I know Mom will fall for the eyes on that lab and isn't that bulldog on the second just the cutest thing ever?  Plus, I know Mom already likes the Johnston series and I can't imagine her not wanting to read the newest installment.  I've already told Mom she needs to buy a new bookshelf strictly for her dog book collection - and she better listen to me!

So I want to know what books you can't wait for this week????

    1. I do read to the boys from time to time. I tend to read them Winnie-the-Pooh stories.

  8. Hey, Booker T.!! ARF, ARF!! (Don't forget to translate that for Mom. It means, of course, "How ya doin'?")

These are certainly two great picks!! Those soulful eyes on that first cover....SO SWEET! And I'm curious to find out WHY this dog is 217 years old! Is he a vampire dog? Lol.

As for the second book, it looks like a barrel of laughs! And I agree -- that bulldog DOES look cute!

Thanks for featuring such TERRIFIC books, Booker T.!! Tell Cass that Maria says "ARF, ARF" to him, too!! :) :)

HUGS TO YOU BOTH, AND MOM, TOO!! And WOOF, WOOF to you boys!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)

P.S. Please let Mom know that, in spite of the creepy-looking cover of the book I recently finished -- "Her Dear and Loving Husband" -- it's definitely not a horror novel. The cover is VERY misleading. Thanks, Book!! (Hee, hee, I couldn't resist calling you that! Lol.) :) :) :)

    2. We call him Book all the time. As for the wolf, I mentioned it on last week's Weekly Reads. I recently hung a wolf head shelf on a newly painted wall and Booker started growling at it one night. I put it on the floor so he could see it but he still doesn't trust it all the time.

    3. What a GREAT coincidence that you guys call him "Book", too! And I suddenly decided to call him that. Don't know why it didn't hit me before -- "Book" and "Booker". lol.

That wolf story is SO cute! I'm going to read the post you're referring to. I guess Book is just jealous. Lol. He doesn't want you to stop loving him! He doesn't know that won't happen, so tell him he just needs to chill. Lol.

      Thanks for letting me know! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)

  15. I have all my dog-books on a special shelf too! (But I don’t buy as many of them as you do! I’m a slooooow reader, and I don’t like any books where the dog dies!) The lab on that cover is so gorgeous!

    1. Yea, books and movies where the dog dies tend to suck. I mean, even if they are good, they depress me beyond words.

  16. That's so funny about the wolf. LOL The cover for Tomorrow is spectacular and love the title Pick and Chews. Both of these are going on my list!

  20. Both of those look like very good books. I'm sure your mom will enjoy them very much when she gets a chance to read them. Tell your mom thanks for stopping by my CWW on Lisa Loves Literature earlier as well!
