Weekly Reads (12/01/17)

So I can't believe it's December 1st.  Christmas will be in in a tad over 3 weeks and I'm totally unprepared.  I did finally get the pumpkins and fall decor put away and actually decorated the mantels, but the tree won't go up until at least the 17th or 18th.  AND can I ask what is up with the Christmas music so early.  3 of my 5 preset buttons in my truck started 24 hour Christmas tunes the day of Thanksgiving.

The boys had a great stay-cation and were sad to see us go back to work.  However, they have been getting extra attention and I told them not to fret too much, I have another 16 days off starting December 23rd.  Nothing like having to burn vacation time or lose it.

I have been reading quite a bit lately but unfortunately this week, nothing has been really grabbing me. I hope to fix that over the weekend.  I'm half way through "Murder on the Lake of Fire" and it's okay.  The mystery is keeping my interest but other aspects not so much.  There is a pet bobcat named Bobbie who is pretty cool.  He eats fish out of the bathtub.  Next I want to read the Peanuts book for my challenge, and then I plan on picking up "Pupcakes."  See that adorable Pug?  His name is Teddy Roosevelt and I can't wait to meet him!

We're still watching "Longmire" and should finish it Friday evening.  Then we will probably start Frontier Season 2.

What are your weekend plans???

  1. Yes, it's hard to believe Christmas is right around the corner! Last Christmas still feels like it just happened. This year has gone by so fast. I'm already feeling the pre-holiday stress, lol! My weekend plans are to finish my gift shopping (I'm already 95% done thanks to all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales) and also to clean the house in preparation for visiting family. Yes, I live such an exciting life ;-)

    1. Congrats on almost being done with Christmas prep. Wish I could say the same. I've always said that once Halloweeen passes, time speeds up.

  2. Yes Christmas is here! I finished up Frontier season 2 the other day and it’s pretty good. I also watched Godless and I really liked that. Not sure what I’m going to binge watch next, maybe The Defenders.

    1. Glad you hear you liked Season 2. I've not checked out Godless so maybe I'll do it soon. Did you watch Girlboss? I liked that one when I watched it this summer.

  3. I haven't even thought about buying Christmas presents yet. I don't enjoy Christmas shopping at all! We had a radio station start playing Christmas music the middle of NOvemeber. Ridiculous! Have a great weekend.

    1. I think radio is really pushing it this year!

  4. The only part of Christmas we do now is the food! I have all the food sorted for main meals so I'm happy with that. I hate Christmas music in the shops-every shop seems to play the same cd. One year I spent twenty minutes in three shops and the same song was playing each time. It drove me mad!!!

    1. I used to have a boss who said Christmas music made her homicidal. She wouldn't let anyone play it at work.

  5. We don't put up our tree until mid December either. It's just not cold enough here for a tree to last for a month. Plus I literally don't have any free time until then.

    1. We always use artificial. Our first year of marriage we had a real tree in our apartment. I was still finding pine needles in July!

  6. I will be putting up my Christmas decorations. Every year I say I'm doing it before Thanksgiving...

  7. We’ll be putting up xmas decor and packing! (Going away next week!) That Pupcakes cover is too cute!

What season are you on for Longmire? We really liked the first few seasons, but this last season is kinda getting on my nerves. I must admit, I’m looking forward to it being done. :\

    1. We just finished Season 7. Some episodes were good, some weren't. I liked it better than my husband. I think they tried to wrap up too much before it ended and it felt strained at times.

  8. Ooh. You have Murder On The Lake Of Fire. I really want to read that. Lucky you with all those vacation days. I'll get 9 days off though:)

    1. I just finished it for my blog tour spot on the 14th. It wasn't bad. 9 days is a good amount of time too!

    1. The cover is great but that title ties me up every time. I think The Lake of Fire Murder would flow much more easily.

  13. I wish I still had some vacation time to use up...lol. My dogs love it when we are home. It is kind of like vacation for them too :) I can't get in the Christmas mood at all. No decorations. No gifts. I guess I am just pretending that it won't happen or something.
