Stacking the Shelves (138)/Sunday Post

Stacking the Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves or TBR piles, may it be physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in a physical store, online, books you borrow from the library or friends, review books, gifts and of course, ebooks! The original meme was started over at Tynga's Reviews. And it now has a new co-host where individuals can link up as well - Marlene from Reading Reality.  Clicking on the book (or title) should take you to the Goodreads page.  I'm also now linking up with the Sunday Post which is hosted by Kimberly@Caffeinated Book Reviewer

So it's been a few weeks since I've shown you my additions but hopefully this won't turn into too long of a post.  First of all, I had some books come in at the library which I had on reserve.  I've been wanting to read "Prey of Gods" since I first saw the expression of that little girl on the cover and after reading the first 5 chapters, I think I'm going to enjoy it.  "Enchantment of Ravens" was an impulse grab as was "The Last Namsara" because I know it contains dragons.  Finally, upon my request, my library ordered a copy of "October Faction Vol. 4" because I had to know what happened next!

.  "Smoke
I grabbed a few books for my trusty Kindle - Paul Anka.  These were either on sale or free - I can't remember which.  "The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper" is not something I normally would pick up, but I think it spoke to me since I'm so close to my grandfather.  I grabbed "Florida Straits" because DOG and "The Witch of Halloween House" because of WITCH.  Finally, I saw Tammy over at Books Bones & Buffy showcase the sequel to "Kings of the Wyld" and it looks like one I want to read but I hadn't yet read the this one so when I saw it for $1.99 I grabbed it!

And finally I received a few review copies - either from Penguin's First to Read program or through Netgalley.  "Smoke City" sounds odd and you know I'm always looking for odd reads.  "By a Charm & a Curse" has gotten quite some hype so I'm interested.  Bother "Two Girls Down" and "Into the Black Nowhere" are thrillers and I loved Gardiner's UNSUB so much that I had to snag this sequel!

So what books did you snag and add to your shelves this week???

    1. I'm afraid it might be too high-fantasy for me but since it has quite a bit of humor I think that will help.

    1. Possibly because of my relationship with my Gpa but I couldn't resist the synopsis when I read it.

  7. Two Girls Down looks tempting.

I saw the movie Lady Bird, a coming-of-age tale set in Sacramento, CA, where I lived during the 60s.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  8. I bought Sunbolt by Intisar Khanani. My blogger friend LaLa in the Library is always raving about this indie author. Looks like you got some great books. I get books from First to Read too. They have some pretty good ones sometimes. Have a great week.

  9. Looks like a great haul of books. I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting the Arthur Pepper book when it was on sale, but the blurb sounded like a copy of A Man Called Ove, so I kind of worried that it just wouldn't live up to that in the first place.

Have a great weekend. - Katie

    1. It did remind me of A Man Called Ove but I've never read that one so I don't have any expectations going in.

  12. I've been champing at the bit to read Prey of Gods too, and I thought I was the only one who became intrigued by the book after seeing that expression on the little girl's face! I'm kicking myself that I didn't pick up this book earlier, because I'v heard such amazing things about it :D

    1. No - there is definitely something intriguing about her expression. Kind of the "cat that ate the canary" look.

  15. The Last Namsara looks and sound so good. I got it as a library book awhile back, but I had to return it before I got more than 30 pages in. I guess I'll just have to buy my own copy sometime... ;)

    Happy reading!

  17. Wait! You named your Kindle Paul Anka? That's fabulous. I remember him as a singer, but I remember him more as the dog on Gilmore Girls. Enjoy all your books!
