I haven't done one of these for two weeks and to be honest, I'm not sure what I've hauled so I'm going to have to put on my thinking cap. I may leave something out but I can always catch up. I had a hold come in at my local library and of course, I couldn't walk out with just one. Seems like I've been waiting on "The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein" for some time. And even though I really didn't like "The Couple Next Door," I have been wanting to give the author another try so when I saw "An Unwanted Guest" available, I grabbed it. It has one of my faves - a wintry setting.
While I was shopping at Wal-Mart, "My Forever Home" jumped into my cart (that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I've read the first in the series a year or so ago and while I still need to read the second, I wanted to get it while it was available (and cheap). I love how you can see all the dog but the people have no heads - yep, I'm twisted that way.
And finally I received a few review books. One I read the synopsis of "Out of Salem" I knew it was one I wanted. I'm adding "Christmas Secrets by the Sea" to my December Contenders list - see the puppies??? So anyone who visits regular and also is active on Netgalley, if you saw "The Puppy Who Knew Too Much" you knew it would end up here right? And finally "The Last" sounded like a great thriller so when I received an invitation, I snatched it up.
So what did you add to your shelves this week???
I didn't realise An Unwanted Guest was out...typical when my book ban is in full flow! The dog is much more important on the cover than the people and it is a lovely dog!
ReplyDeleteI agree, he's so cute. I'm hoping to love An Unwanted Guest. I seriously disliked The Couple Next Door so this is her last chance!
DeleteTo my bookshelf, I added Never Change by Shari Sakurai . . . wintery and bloody.:-) Dear Husband and I are headed off on a bookstore date today, so I plan to pick up something else, too, just not sure what.
ReplyDeleteWintry and bloody - awesome combo. What book did you grab on your outing?
DeleteIt is so weird how some books can jump isn't it? :) All your books are new to me and I look forward to your thoughts. An Unwanted Guest sounds creeptastic!
ReplyDeleteYep, they just sprout feet.
DeleteThe Last does sound good, I'm trying to request less though, so I'll probably wait to read your review. 😁
ReplyDeleteGood luck with requesting less!
DeleteThat's quite the haul. Some of these are on my radar. And I've had books just jump in my cart too! LOL
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll do a book discussion about that next..... Why Books Jump in Carts.
DeleteOoh I hope you like An Unwanted Guest- I enjoyed that one. And The LAst looks good!
ReplyDeleteGood, I'm glad you liked it. Did you like The Couple Next Door? Can you tell I can't get past that one?
DeleteAn Unwanted Guest is a great read for the winter - best enjoyed in front of the fire with a cup of warm cocoa in hand and a pup curled up by your side, while the blizzard rages outside. Hope it works better for you than the author's other book!

Glad to hear it, that's just what I'm looking for.
DeleteI'm so bad at keeping up with the books I've hauled. Haha. I love that cover that jumped in your cart. Who needs people heads, it's the dog we want to see. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does become a chore sometime.
DeleteI do want to get back to Debbie Burns series so I totally understand how that books jumped into your cart. I am also not all that surprised to find The Puppy Who Knew Too Much on your list. I hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteI know. I need to read book 2 before this one. I might save them both for my Puppy Challenge in February.
DeleteAwesome! I also picked up a copy of "An Unwanted Guest"! I can't wait to see what you think!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds! Hope we book love it!
DeleteI love the Out of Salem cover. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteI want to read The Dark Decent..., but I don't know when I'll get to it. I will be looking out for your review. 📚
I bought about 12 physical books between B&N and Book Outlet with Cyber Monday discounts. 😱
It has such a cool cover. I'm awaiting a Book Outlet box right now.
DeleteBurns has had some really cute covers. :)
ReplyDeleteMost definitely.
DeleteOmggg, The cuteness of The Puppy who knew too much cover!!! Checked out Out of Salem and wow, there's a lot going on there -- I hope it's a good read!~
ReplyDeleteIt does sound pretty complicated. Puppies are always cool!
DeleteI've seen "The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein" everywhere lately. So much hype! I hope it's good. Can't wait for your review!
ReplyDeleteHope it lives up to it!
DeleteI loved An Unwanted Guest. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Farm as well.
DeleteI skip now and then. Sometimes I don't find the time.

It does take some time to throw this post together.
DeleteI'm always intrigued by any books about Frankenstein so the Elizabeth Frankenstein book appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
And the cover helps too.
DeleteI have that same problem with books, they seem to just jump into my cart, lol. Wonderful books you added this Barb. I hope you enjoy them all.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the don't sprout feet, perhaps they grow wings.
