What's Happening...(05-18-19)

So I'm doing things a tad bit differently this year and will be combining all of my regular weekend posts.  This will enable me to add more content on Fridays and it is just starting to make more sense.  I'll still be linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post at Caffeinated Reviewer.  Both blogs are awesome so make sure you check them out.

The weather continues to be up and down here at The Farm but nothing too drastic so all is good. I do wish it would dry out some so I could do some work in the backyard.  Cassius continues to do well. I can tell at times he's lonely and missing his brother, but we're still making all kinds of extra time for him.

I finished up "Dead to Me" on Netflix last week and I would highly recommend it to anyone.  And I can't wait for the next season - what a cliffhanger.  And I kept trying to figure out where I'd seen Christina Applegate's co-star who plays Judy and finally realized she played Daphne on the Scooby-Doo movies.  We wanted the finale of "Big Bang Theory" Thursday and it was rather bittersweet.  I think it ended well but will definitely miss the characters.  I also finally fell down the rabbit hole that is "Big Little Lies."  I have watched all but the final episode of Season 1 and am really excited for Season 2.  It's kind of like a train wreck in that once I started, I couldn't look away.

Like everyone else, I'm thrilled yet anxious for the final "Game of Thrones" episode this weekend.  I'm sure HBO will continue to tick me off.  If they kill that last dragon I'm breaking up with the show entirely (easy to say since it's the last one right?).

I have been reading some but not as much as I would have liked (see above tv references for the reason perhaps).  I need to kick it in this weekend.  I am about 120 pages into "NOS4A2" and am enjoying it.  I've also read about the first 60 pages of "Ghost Mine" and the first 90 pages of "Dreaming Darkly."  I'm enjoying them all and it looks like I have some good reading ahead.

I also grabbed a few books for my Kindle when I saw them on sale.  This has been over the past few weeks so I don't know the current status.  I've been wanting "Just Life" for a while and the author is an attorney/animal activist whose wife is a veterinarian so I think it'll be good.  "The River Man" sounded really creepy and "The Stranger Diaries" is one I've been interested in for a while.

So did you grab anything good this week?  I know I'm forgetting some but there's always next week.

  1. Haha yes, this season of Game of Thrones has been completely aggravating, I just feel more annoyed with each episode. At this point though, I'm just ready for it to be over, and I'll be happy just to see it all the way through. I'm already giving up on every getting an ending for the books, so HBO's ending is all I got now :P

    1. I felt ready for it to be over too. I can feel a rant post coming on soon. I didn't hate everything about it but had some issues.

  2. If the spoilers I saw on Twitter this week are correct then I'm not going to like parts of the last episode. I hope it is wrong about two things in particular! I can't believe it is all going to be over in a few days! It makes me wish they had been doing ten seasons! Still, there are the prequels to come!

    1. I read a spoiler summary of the whole show (what can I say - at least I wouldn't spoil it for anyone else) and I thought, there is no way this is going to happen. But nope, I was wrong. I was glad to see Ghost again and wonder if they added that in at the last minute after the uproar the earlier episode.

  4. Seems like everyone I know is watching Dead to Me. I will have to watch it when school is out in 2 weeks. I will have all summer to watch Netflix! I liked the BIg Bang Theory ending. I thought it was nice. Did you see the ending of Young Sheldon? If not, watch the last 5 minutes. It ties in to the BBT finale. Made me cry! Have a great week with your books.

  5. You're not the first person to mention Dead to Me, so I'm going to check it out. And sounds like all three books you're reading are really good! Maybe you'll have some nice outdoor weather to read in this weekend?

    1. I think you'd like it. The weekend was nice but it got hot fast. I was able to weed out the flower garden and tidy up so now it's ready for mulch next weekend!

  6. I love Linda Cardellini! She was also on the cancelled way too soon Freaks and Geeks and was Chutney in Legally Blonde. I really enjoyed the first season of Big Little Lies. I'm curious about the second season but am wary of where they are going to take it past the source material. (Also I don't think the third dragon has any chance of surviving...) Happy reading!

I liked Big Little Lies too- a train wreck you can't look away from is a pretty good description, I think!- and yeah- Game of thrones tomorrow night. Yikes!

I think GoT has pissed off a lot of people. I hate what they've done with the show.

  13. I love, love, love the cover of Just Life. It also sounds interesting. 👍✨

Enjoy your GoT finale tonight. I was a little confused why the season was only six episodes. Is that normal for the show? 🐉

Give Cass some big hugs from me. 😘

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

    1. No it's a shorter season but the last 3 episodes have been 80 minutes versus the normal 50-55. I heard the last few episodes cost 15 million each to make so I can see why they may have shortened it.

  14. I will have to check out Dead to Me. I am afraid I haven't heard too much about it. Have you seen less wet and more dry this week? It's been back and forth where I live too. I hope you enjoy your new books! I am trying to be good and not add any new books to my TBR pile, but we'll see how long it lasts. Have a good week, Barb!

    1. It's really good and I wasn't expecting to like it so much. We've had some drier weather and it's definitely getting hotter. I can never stop adding books so I've given up trying.
