So I'm a tad late this week but wanted to get a post up. I told several people I'd share some Halloween decorations and to be honest, I felt weird holding off a week.
Friday Mr. Barb had to go to the ER from work. He was having chest pains and had been all night. Now we didn't believe they were a major concern because they weren't really in his chest area. However, better safe than sorry and when they didn't let up, off we went. Luckily it was just a reaction to a medication he had been prescribed. I thought meds were supposed to make you feel better. On top of that, my truck was in the shop getting a new idle arm and it was barely done before the shop was closed (they had a motor go out on one of their lifts). Glad my truck wasn't the one stuck in the air.
Halloween has come and gone but our decorations will stay up for another week. I refuse to let it end. Here are a few of the promised pics.
Mr. Barb bought me the astronaut Snoopy this year and he does a Snoopy dance and then the dog plaque which says "I'll do tricks for treats" is new this year as well.
Mr. Barb surprised me with this creepy doll a few weeks ago. When you push a button her eyes glw and she says a creepy saying and then her arms move ripping her dolly in half. The day of the dead dog is one of two I bought this year.
This is our second mantle. The boxer on the end is a permanent fixture of any design here. Mr. Barb's coworker gifted it to him before she moved out of state. It's an antique. You can see the Booker T's bar sign in the background I had made for Mr. Mike a few years back.
Gotta love small painted pumpkins and they are everywhere around our hose. The oval doorknocker rings when you push a button and a moving eye appears in the white dome.
I bought Prince the Beanie Baby Bat last year and he usually sits in the Frankenstein candy holder.
This is just some of the things we keep adding to each year.
I did actually manage to finish two books this weekend - yay me! I don't know what I'm going to pick up next but I suspect it's a combination of these three:
And finally, here is Cassius's instagram post this week. We took this on our Halloween evening walk. He loves sporting his pumpkins - even if they are upside down!
Hope everyone had a great week!
Awesome pics! Love the Snoopy one naturally. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad everything was okay and the chest pain wasn't anything serious.
Have a good week!
I found a Snoopy ornament like that just yesterday. If you have CVS's local, they are the best place to find Peanuts stuff during Halloween and Christmas.
DeleteOh no! I'm so glad Mr. Barb is okay! Chest pains are certainly not something to just wait out. <3
ReplyDeleteYes, luckily it wasn't that now if his stomach would only heal up.
DeleteThose are some incredible decorations! LOL, just when I thought you couldn't make dolls any creepier!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I know. That doll is the stuff of nightmares.
DeleteI could not deal with having that doll in my house, toooo creepy for me.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
I wasn't with him when he bought it or I might have tried to influence that purchase.
DeleteI'm so glad that Mr Barb is ok-that must have been really scary. I love that pic of Cass with his pumpkins! Dave very much approves of the design! I like the new Snoopy and the dog with the pumpkin-can't say I'd go for creepy dolls and spiders though!
ReplyDeleteWell, there is one giant spider on the mantel and that doll, there are no words!
DeleteI love your decorations, although the creepy doll ripping her doll in half?! OMG. Spooky. You've reminded me I need to fit in The Remaking at some point but it might not be till December. Glad to hear Mr. Barb is OK!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good book so far but it's my second one on the go so I'm having trouble getting very far.
DeleteGlad Mr. Barb is ok! How scary. I love your Halloween decorations. I found some vintage die cuts that I had growing up and framed them for my mantel. I love them and didn't want to take them down!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. And why take them down? I say leave them up!
DeleteFun decorations! We don't have much but I did get a door knocker thing on clearance a couple years ago. It's a skull which laughs and says something like Why are you here? We have no candy for you Just kidding. Lulu is scared to death of it. lol So are some of the little kids. But we didn't have many with the weather. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
Poor Lulu. Cass doesn't like the doll very much when she's speaking.
Deletei was bad this year, only putting up my decorations the day of halloween. that doll is super creepy. i don't know if i would want it sitting there...looking at me. lol
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
She's sitting in the foyer and I can see her from my spot on the couch. She will definitely be moving next year.
DeleteI love your Halloween decorations. I vote for keeping them up all year :) Also glad Mr. Barb is ok. Sometimes the side effects of meds are worse than the thing they're fixing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and yes, sometimes I wonder why we even take some medicines if they only make us feel worse.
DeleteI'm glad Mr. Barb is okay. Love the Halloween decorations. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne!
DeleteYour decorations are so cool and I always say better late than never! :) Hope we both enjoy The Stand! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too. Also hope we can get through it!
DeleteOur decorations will stay up a while as well! We have a door decoration from Hocus Pocus that is a cauldron, with outlines depicting the faces of Sarah, Mary, and Winifred. Our door mat is my most fave line from the movie, "Oh look, another glorious morning. Makes me sick!" I can't bear to put them away yet!
ReplyDeleteI love Hocus Pocus and that door mat would stay out all the time at my house.
DeleteThanks for sharing your spooky decor! 💀 My son works in the furniture department at Big Lots and I found out he has been lying to me for three years about their Halloween decorations. He said his store doesn't stock Halloween decorations, just fall seasonal things. Well... one of the neighbors had three Day of the Dead animal skeletons, and you guessed it, they came from his store! What a brat. Ha ha. He said he lied because I already had too much stuff. 😛 Anyway, I love the Day of the Dead skeletons, happy to see you were able to find some. And I am super jealous of that Doll! 🎃
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good week, and thank god the hubs pains weren't serious! 👍✨
How dare Baz. Some of our best additions have come from Big Lots!
DeleteLove the pics! Except for the creepy doll. I really hate creepy dolls, lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad your husband's chest pains weren't anything too serious and he's ok.
The creepy doll is not something I would have bought but Mr. Barb added it while I was visiting my Grandpa.
DeleteFantastic decorations - although, no, just no - I absolutely couldn't live or sleep in the house with the creepy doll - it's perfect for Halloween though I must admit. Scares me but then I'm a wuss.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I'm not a huge fan of dolls either but Pearl (that's what we named her) has grown on me.
