This week's topic is books to read during the holidays. I don't really do many rereads but I will share some here I think would be perfect to read during this time of year, as well as a few I hope to make time for.
If you love cozies, make sure to check out this one as well as its sequel 'Twas the Knife Before Christmas. I loved both so much and such a fun Christmas-themed town. I was bummed there wasn't one released this year.
For some reason Christmas makes me think of Harry Potter (maybe because it's on TV all the time). I have only read the series once but I am hoping to crack open this lovely illustrated edition and do a reread during Christmas break.
I don't read a lot of classics but I first read Little Women during a snowy Christmas holiday and for some reason, it seemed perfect. Now it always makes me think of Christmas.
I may be cheating a tad as this is my current read but for those of you who want a mix of holidays and horror, this one will be right up your alley. A group of people trapped on a highway in a snowstorm and weird things start happening.
This is the sequel to A Dog Called Jack and I will DEFINITELY be reading it this holiday. Can't wait to visit the Christmas Street residents again.
I want to make time for this one since it's a Gothic Christmas thriller and if I'm not able to, I will be working it in during January.
If I can get my hands on a copy, I'll be picking this one up this Christmas.
I couldn't resist grabbing this book from the library - I'll be reading it to Cassius this Christmas. So I think it's official, I've become a crazy dog lady!
So there you have it. I'm amazed I came up with 8. Can't wait to see everyone else's lists this week!
I used to re-read Harry Potter every festive season but not for a few years now! I'm usually too busy trying to either finish as many books as I can or getting a good start to next year's reading! I really want to re-read my Game of Thrones books!
ReplyDeleteI hope I get to it but there's a good chance I won't.
DeleteI really want to read Mistletoe, but I wasn't sure if it's available in the U.S. yet. And Snowball sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteI ordered it from Book Depository (insert evil grin).
DeleteAw, A Very Fiona Christmas looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteHere are some holiday reads I would like to read: My Top Ten Tuesday.
The artwork in it is too darn cute!
DeleteI think of HP too during the holiday season. Also those illustrated editions make fantastic gifts.
ReplyDeleteYes they do. I think that's how I've gotten all of mine!
DeleteAww, that last title! I wouldn't have been able to resist it either.
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute.
DeleteYou're making me so curious about Twelve Slays of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
It's an awesome cozy - you need to give it a chance.
Deletesome fun looking holiday reads. the twelve slays title cracks me up and snowball looks 'bloody' good

I finished it Friday evening. Snowball WAS bloody good.
DeleteGreat selection. I'm going to add Twelve Slays of Christmas to my list this year hopefully I can get to it.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too!
DeleteThe Twelve Slays of Christmas...ha! That's a good one. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's an awesome title. And the other one is called "Twas the Knife Before Christmas."
DeleteI remember reading Little Women back in my teens but I've never been tempted to pick it up since. I love the movie though! I'm curious about the new movie adaptation releasing later this month...
ReplyDeleteThe illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is awesome! I'm a big fan of the illustrated versions - hope you enjoy!
I am curious about the new movie too.
DeleteI didn't know how much a hippo decked out in Christmas lights would speak to my soul until just now. I have never wanted a new picture book more.
ReplyDeleteTotally. Fiona is so cute throughout.
DeleteI always get a pull to reread the Harry Potter books during fall and winter!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people do.
DeleteTwelve Slays of Christmas- haha love that!!
ReplyDeleteGreat title huh?
DeleteI've read Twas the Knife Before Christmas, which I really enjoyed, but still need to go back and read the first book. I think cozies are just the perfect reads at Christmas time.
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome for this time of year.
DeleteI did enjoy The Twelve Slays of Christmas and need to read the second one soon. I was hoping to see a new one this year as well.
ReplyDeleteIt was disappointing that there wasn't one.
DeleteI mostly read PNR these days and it's hard to find a good PNR with a Christmas or holiday theme to it.
ReplyDeleteYou are right now that you mention it. There should be more.
DeleteReally want to check out Mistletoe!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
I've heard good things.
DeleteYay for Mistletoe making the list. And now you've made me want to read HP - it would be perfect for this time of year - particularly a binge read.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
I ordered it after reading your review ;)
DeleteI'm a crazy dog lady too. Or at least that's the looks I get from mine. LOL
ReplyDeleteI know that look!
DeleteLittle women is one of my favorite books and movies to read and watch during the holidays, close second to Harry Potter :) !
ReplyDeleteThey're both such classics.
DeleteGreat picks! Honestly, Harry Potter and Little Women fit the theme this week SO well.
ReplyDeleteThey do.
DeleteI love the cover of A Very Fiona Christmas! 😍 I think kooky dog lady has a better ring to it. I hope to be one someday. Ha ha. 😆
ReplyDeleteSorcerer's Stone always reminds me of Christmas, too. 🎄
I read A Christmas Carol every year. 👍✨
Yes, Kooky Dog Lady sounds much better. I will go with that from now on :)
DeleteGreat picks!! A Very Fiona Christmas looks lovely!!
